Classic sandhills course
Had a great round out here! The staff is so kind and helpful, they were busy but managed the pace of play well. The setting is lovely, more hilly than I expected and very fun. Greens were nice, well kept, and great approaches with some fun opportunities to chip up onto the green. Drains well, mud was nearly non-existent.
Only downside is the cart path situation, it was confusing/pretty rough and there isn’t always a path but we figured it out. Walking would be fine here.
Great value for the round, we’ll definitely be back!
Honest review
First time playing at Twin Valley and here is my honest review.
-appears that the course had been abandoned or simply left unmanaged for a long time until someone took it over
-there’s absolutely no cart path just some chunks of asphalt of what used to be there and dirt paths from traffic. It can make things confusing when traveling from hole to hole. Some areas can be quite dangerous if you are not an experienced driver on rough terrain
-fairways and roughs might as well just be like your everyday home lawn with bare spots, over growth and weeds for the rough
-putting greens are definitely making a comeback with treatment/care but they do play fast and can have some rough spots
-Make sure you hit your ball past the sink hole on #13… or it is long gone!
-staff is very inviting and friendly overall. They will answer questions about the course and pace of play, etc. no issues there at all with staff.
Overall I was disappointed playing the course and it wasn’t very enjoyable for my wife and I who golf frequently. I will say it like this.. play at your own risk and I imagine this course will start to really change for the better over time with the ownership now. The price is fair just be aware!
Great price
A challenging short course that is still playable for the average golfer that is affordable to all especially when booked through golfnow.
Twin Valley
Course is on a beautiful property with great scenery and the design is very good. Some holes on the back 9 are too challenging for most golfers. However, the tee boxes were average at best and same for the fairways. The rough was so high and thick that it was difficult to locate your ball. The greens were much too slow and not always mowed correctly. Also the cart paths were non existent in places. Green fees were a bargain, but overall, it was not an enjoyable round. Some of this could be due to too much recent rain.
a work in progress
obviously this place had gotten into terrible shape. new owners are working…the greens had just been airiated … but were watered and looking healthy. The fairway not so much, grass is sparse thin and the ground hard as a rock, needs rain. Cart path … worst I’ve ever seen.
But the layout is great, challanging par 3s, elevation changes… I like it.
Staff very friendly.
I will go back after some rain and play again, overall a fun day
Great course. Great price
Very fun course ro play. The front and back play so differently. With the front being easier due to it being more open and pretty standard. The back nine is more challenging due to tighter fairways and elevation changes. The greens roll pretty good and true. They are currently doing a lot of work improve the aesthetics of the course.
Not great but not bad.
Good course layout with some challenging holes. Fairly short track. The greens were firm and quick with 80% fairness in playability, patchy in places but overall good for the price. Very friendly staff, laid back place. A better player wouldn’t enjoy it as much as a few guys just wanting to play a round. Great place to take a kid.
Pay for what you get
Didn't have any carts when we got there. Meanwhile everyone on the course had their own cart with wife riding shotgun. The greens are mostly sand. The fairways are mostly weeds. You pay for what you get!
Nice.... But
If they would spend some money and fix cart paths and seed and plant some grass this would be a great course. Difficult layout and challenging holes. Conditions were NOT good, tiring course to play with all the elevation changes and uneven lies. Seemed like a mountain course. SPEND SOME MONEY ON THE COURSE!
Very Unique Course
First, the clubhouse staff were very friendly and helpful. Being February, nearly everything is dormant so it would be interesting to play as grass is growing. The layout is challenging, but fun. I’ve never played a course in this area with such elevation changes. Great value with the hot deal. I would recommend and will play again.
Worth the price.
We paid 17 dollars a piece to play this course which was exactly the right price for the conditions. The staff is super friendly and helpful but the course is rough, fairways are dirt and bumpy, greens are painted and cart paths will briise your kidneys. The layout is great and if they can grow the grass in it can be a great course.
Another good day at 'the valley'.
As usual, we had a great day. A 4.5 star rating would be more appropriate since everything was good and the only issue that really popped up are the paths. They have done some repairs on the worst of the worst and I'm sure others will get attention soon. Paths are expensive whether asphalt or concrete so a gradual repair schedule is likely. Ideally they can 'fix' the sections that exist...many areas do not have paths but the grass/turf is good enough. I'd rather have the price remain reasonable than have paths throughout. The new management has achieved quite a turn around in the last couple years.
