Wedgewood is fun, but rife with inexperienced golfers.
Course conditions were pretty good. Fairways were plush. Greens were a little grainy but not bad at all. I’ll warn you to be prepared to encounter individuals playing this course that have little understanding of pace of play or knowledge of golf etiquette in general.
11:28 tee time on a Sunday. Sunday golf pace was to be expected as the course was busy. We were waiting a minute or two for each shot but still on pace for a 4hr round through 9 holes.
There was a single playing behind our foursome. I'm sure he was frustrated at the slow play but he was playing as a single. Letting him in front of us would have gotten him nowhere and would have pushed my foursome back. The single jumped in front of us at the turn (on #12) without asking to play through and then waited on #12 tee while the foursome that was in front of us cleared the green. Of course, this was with us waiting at the #12 tee box as well.
We waited for him to clear the green. While we were teeing off on #12, another single just skipped past us without asking if he could play through. We get to #12 green and can see the next tee and there are both singles waiting on the tee box. Think they would pair up? Nope. We watched the two separate single players for the rest of the round waiting on every shot behind each other and the same group that we followed on the front 9.
On #15 tee, a ranger pulled up and asked how it was going, after a brief explanation, he just drove off. Nice guy, but he didn't ask the singles to pair up. Really, they should have been paired up on #1 tee to help fit in with the pace of play.
All in all, I still recommend the course, but just be warned of what you might encounter.
Doesn’t Disappoint
Been playing this course a couple of times a year for about 10 years and you always get good value for your dollar. Well maintained course, well rolling greens, interesting holes, etc. if you are looking for a course with gaping traps, long forced Carries over water, elegant clubhouse facilities - then this isn’t for you. But if you want an enjoyable Sunday afternoon round that’s playable for all / this is a great course.
Mice course
Mice course. The course was in great shape greens were really nice play some pay was perfect.
Excellent Course for the Price
We had a mid-morning round on Monday. The pace of play was great. The fairways were really plush. Some of the tee boxes were a little uneven. The greens were a little grainy which would affect your putt if you weren’t aggressive with the pace of your putting stroke. For the ~$30 price, Wedgewood would be hard to beat in the area!
Mascot
You have to make friends with Bogey. He a pretty big dog, then he turns into a big teddy bear, when u stop to pet him.lol
Course is in great shape….
Course is in great shape and the layout is great as well, however. Most of the staff was a pleasure but did have a run in with one staff member who was a bit difficult to deal with. They had run out of golf carts so we had to wait for one of those. While waiting, the starter sent a foursome in front of us (a group of three) that had just finished 18 and didn’t even have a tee time. The pace of play was TERRIBLE. I’ll say it again, TERRIBLE. Well over 5 hours to play 18 holes. I’ve played here many times and the pace of play is usually pretty slow but not this bad. And with everything else piled on top of that, it was just a less than pleasurable experience.
Great Course!
Awesome course with awesome staff led by head Pro, Brady!
