About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Excellent course in very good condition.
We always enjoy playing Chardon Lakes as it is scenic and challenging, but at the same time very playable. This summer the weather has affected some of the fairways, as it has been wet and hot, a combination that that leads to some brown patches resulting from standing water. Fortunately the greens haven't suffered. The course is well maintained and the staff are very friendly.

Beautiful Day on wet course
Golfing was fun on such a beautiful day! Play was cart path only so alot of walking on wet roughs and fairways. It was crowded but pace wasn’t too bad. We had to wait to tee off on several holes but not for long. Always enjoy this course!

Yikes
Course was in ok condition considering we had a massive rainfall the night before. That’s about the only good thing I can say about this course! The starter was a jerk and acted like they didn’t want us there. People on the course were getting frustrated at us for the slow pace of play in the groups in front of us. Not to mention the amount of bugs that were surrounding my group was insane. Would NOT recommend this course to anybody soon!!

Great course.....GN?
Not sure why I was charged $21.00 for each tee time I booked with Golf Now. I'm an avid user of the app and they don't explain some of the fees. I will mot use Golf Now to book a tee time agian.

Pack a lunch
The course was in excellent condition , but honestly it was too hard for many of the groups playing . Add to that all the alcohol one particular group was drinking and the pace of play was grueling.
We told a ranger about the problem and nothing was done and more beer was sold at the turn. If you are going to play just be prepared for an all day affair .

Pack a lunch or two
The course was in great shape, and the greens were awesome. My recommendation is to pack a lunch, or two because the pace of play was horrid. This course honestly is too difficult for a number of golfers and the two groups in front of us were an example. Add to that an abundance of alcohol and our day was a long , slug fest. I reported the group to one of the rangers who did absolutely nothing to help. There are signs everywhere that promote the pace of play, but management does not help promote that.
What a shame because if we could have played in a reasonable amount of time it would have been a tremendous experience.

Fun Course
We had a 8:08 tee time but there was frost but they were able to get us out at 8:30. We ended up playing the round in 4 hours. Fun course. They were working on the bunkers but it is still early in the season. The greens were lightning fast and some of the pin placements were extremely challenging but our group had a great time.

Nice course, good challenge
Course was very nice and up kept. The greens were very tough as they all have big slopes but good time overall

Challenging greens
This is definitely a course where you want to be below the hole. Greens are smooth and slanted often. Distances are not too great so one's short game is key.
