About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

The Greens!
I am a huge fan or this course, but make sure you KEEP IT BELOW THE HOLE! The greens are lightning quick. The ball will easily roll off the green if your not careful

Perfect day for golf, some wicked, borderline unplayable, pin locations
First time playing Chardon Lakes and it won't be the last. Course was in GREAT shape. Tight fairways on some shots, and some holes, especially #7, nearly unplayable pin locations. Greens were rolling fast and pure though so the issue was merely where the pin was placed, nothing more. Speaking of putting, this course will test your putting skills give breaks and contours.
Pace of play was 4 hours for 18.

Good test of one's skills!
The course was in excellent shape even after the rain. Damp/soggy in places, but overall drained very well. Enjoyed my round, some holes were very challenging, while others had "blind " tee shots. Greens were in excellent condition; I would definitely play again!!
