Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Pack a lunch
The course was in excellent condition , but honestly it was too hard for many of the groups playing . Add to that all the alcohol one particular group was drinking and the pace of play was grueling.
We told a ranger about the problem and nothing was done and more beer was sold at the turn. If you are going to play just be prepared for an all day affair .
Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round, anthonynatale! We appreciate your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again soon at Chardon Lakes Golf Course.
Pack a lunch or two
The course was in great shape, and the greens were awesome. My recommendation is to pack a lunch, or two because the pace of play was horrid. This course honestly is too difficult for a number of golfers and the two groups in front of us were an example. Add to that an abundance of alcohol and our day was a long , slug fest. I reported the group to one of the rangers who did absolutely nothing to help. There are signs everywhere that promote the pace of play, but management does not help promote that.
What a shame because if we could have played in a reasonable amount of time it would have been a tremendous experience.

Fun Course
We had a 8:08 tee time but there was frost but they were able to get us out at 8:30. We ended up playing the round in 4 hours. Fun course. They were working on the bunkers but it is still early in the season. The greens were lightning fast and some of the pin placements were extremely challenging but our group had a great time.
Hi, barrynoble. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Chardon Lakes Golf Course!
Nice course, good challenge
Course was very nice and up kept. The greens were very tough as they all have big slopes but good time overall

Challenging greens
This is definitely a course where you want to be below the hole. Greens are smooth and slanted often. Distances are not too great so one's short game is key.
We are so happy you enjoyed your round, Lois2746982! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Chardon Lakes Golf Course.
Great shape for April

Why NO barriers in the carts???
Last year this course had barriers in some carts. Now all barriers have been removed. Why? They have signs everywhere about Social Distancing but then they make you sit a foot away from another golfer that could be a total stranger. Why? The 4th Wave of Covid 19 is upon us. Why are golf courses being Socially and Morally irresponsible???
Stay home if your that scared. Go play any other course and they dont have barriers.
Hello, LORIDAWN56. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the safety concerns during your round. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and thank you for playing Chardon Lakes Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
Starter is an absolute JERK!!! Course conditions were good
I am amazed the Starter is still employed. He was a JERK last year and again this year. Greens and fairways were is very good condition. The grounds people and clubhouse staff were very, very nice.
Played hundreds of rounds there and starters have never been an issue. Must just be your personality.
Thank you for taking the time to review Chardon Lakes Golf Course. We are sorry to hear you may have had a negative experience with any individual on our staff. Thank you for choosing to golf with us and we hope to see you again soon.
Great shape
Course is in great shape this early in the season, everything green and alive...beautiful view...
Played in 30mph gusts of wind today which added even more of a challenge to the course. Only a few bunkers were in bad condition but I'm sure will be ready by season start.
Warning: greens are like putting in the bathtub, a little tap goes a long way.....lol
Keep up the great job
Ulike28, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Chardon Lakes Golf Course.

Chardon is a fun course to play. streams of water to watch for. The greens are tricky for sure. Nice wide fairways. They seem to constantly be working on improving the condition. It is it great shape, can’t wait when it is all green. Clean pro shop and friendly staff.

There was no notification that greens were punched. Greens were a mess and impossible to putt.

GREAT CONDITION
Course is in great condition, and greens are lightening fast on difficult slopes, so choose your tee box carefully...you will need all your extra strokes for all your 3 putts...lol
Great course, highly recommended to play before seasons end. Extremely friendly staff too...
We are so happy you enjoyed your round, Ulike28! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Chardon Lakes Golf Course.
Nice Course but slippery, tough greens
The greens will keep me from coming back. I know people like a challenge but these greens are extremely challenging and fast. Three putts (and worse) for a decent putter make for an unpleasant round even on a beautiful day.
