About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Why NO barriers in the carts???
Last year this course had barriers in some carts. Now all barriers have been removed. Why? They have signs everywhere about Social Distancing but then they make you sit a foot away from another golfer that could be a total stranger. Why? The 4th Wave of Covid 19 is upon us. Why are golf courses being Socially and Morally irresponsible???
Starter is an absolute JERK!!! Course conditions were good
I am amazed the Starter is still employed. He was a JERK last year and again this year. Greens and fairways were is very good condition. The grounds people and clubhouse staff were very, very nice.
Played hundreds of rounds there and starters have never been an issue. Must just be your personality.

Great shape
Course is in great shape this early in the season, everything green and alive...beautiful view...
Played in 30mph gusts of wind today which added even more of a challenge to the course. Only a few bunkers were in bad condition but I'm sure will be ready by season start.
Warning: greens are like putting in the bathtub, a little tap goes a long way.....lol

Fun
Chardon is a fun course to play. streams of water to watch for. The greens are tricky for sure. Nice wide fairways. They seem to constantly be working on improving the condition. It is it great shape, can’t wait when it is all green. Clean pro shop and friendly staff.

Greens
There was no notification that greens were punched. Greens were a mess and impossible to putt.

GREAT CONDITION
Course is in great condition, and greens are lightening fast on difficult slopes, so choose your tee box carefully...you will need all your extra strokes for all your 3 putts...lol
Great course, highly recommended to play before seasons end. Extremely friendly staff too...

Nice Course but slippery, tough greens
The greens will keep me from coming back. I know people like a challenge but these greens are extremely challenging and fast. Three putts (and worse) for a decent putter make for an unpleasant round even on a beautiful day.

If you like slow play, you will love this course.
We were a two-some behind a two-some that was, we learned later, behind 8 four-somes
The two-some quit after 9 because when we got to #10 there were 5 four-somes on the hole. I assume they all stopped at the turn to slowly feed their faces. Never did the four-some offer to let us play through. In addition to being slow, the four-somes we observed were also horrible golfers.
And, as one might expect, not a single ranger was present on the course. $39.50 for a hot deal and a round of golf that took more than 5 hours. The next time I drive 70 minutes to play golf, it will be at one of the other "GOOD" course in the Chardon Area.
Whomever owns this course should be ashamed.

This is one of the premier courses in Northeast Ohio.
Always in great shape and just a picture perfect layout. Friendly staff and I finished 18 in just over 3 hours. Wowza.

I am responding to question from the course: I have played this course many times over a few years, however my last trip was disappointing because the tee boxes were placed in really strange angles and the greens were unusually VERY fast with pin placements on crests in at least 5 holes. I have played this course many times, but it was not like this previosuly

We drive an hour and 10 minutes to play this course. Worth a trip from wherever you’re at great greens great layout very challenging. It’s a great day of golf

Worth checking out!
I decided to make the 30 minute drive after buying the hot deal, and it was worth it! First time playing the course and it has a great layout. The rough and fairways were just cut and in great condition for this time of the year. Put it in the fairway and it just rolls out perfectly. The greens have a ton of undulations and are really quick, so staying below the hole is a must!!
Only thing negative to say is that right when a buddy and I were about to tee off the starter was interrogating us asking if we paid extra for the cart, do we have a tee time, did we pay already, and so on like we were criminals. As if he didn't just check our receipts 5 minutes prior. It's always the retired old timers that are the most grumpy and need to loosen up a bit.
Aside from that, it's a really great course and I plan on making a few more trips out this fall!

Great course
First time at the course and I really enjoyed. My wife and I hadn’t been golfing in awhile so we figured we’d give it a shot. GREAT course for all levels. I’ll definitely golf there again

Stay home if your that scared. Go play any other course and they dont have barriers.
