Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Great track.
This is a very fun course, and quite challenging. Good condition great value.
Same Old Chardon Lakes
I used to play this course for a golf league. We left and now play St. Denis. The staff at Chardon Lakes was rude, and the course was okay, but overpriced and overrated. I played a quick nine tonight for nostalgia - nothing has changed in five years. There are plenty of great courses in the area to choose from, but I won't try this one for another five years.
Excellent course layout
Many interesting hole layouts. Length from white tees very manageable for 12 hdc golfer. Greens very fast, true
Challenging greens but in excellent condition
Pace of play was worst I ever experienced. We started a little before noon and caught the 11:00 group by the seventh hole. They failed to let us play through and no rangers on the course. The result was hit and wait 5 minutes between shots. They need rangers on the course who monitor pace of play. It seems that many courses in northeast Ohio are unaware of the PGA attempts to improve pace of play. Other than that, this course was excellent.
FAST GREENS
this course was very nice and i got a great price.
its only downfall if any were the extremely fast greens
Very Nice Course
2nd time playing there this year. Course both times was in great shape. Pace of play was fantastic and it was one of the nicer Saturdays weather wise we have had in awhile. Staff is great, clubhouse is decent. You can always get a good rate on golfnow for this course even when it's not a "hotdeal".
Chagrin Falls player
The course was in fantastic condition. Pace of play was spot on. This is a course you have to know, to take advantage of the layout. A lot of blind shots and holes forcing you to lay up. The greens were in perfect condition and were VERY fast and most had a lot of slope to them forcing you to always play below the hole to promote an up hill putt. This is especially where you HAVE to know the course to score well. It was a great day.
nice country golf
got here due to hotdeal out in the country, like a country club ,course well maintained and plays long from the black tees, will definitely be back well worth the drive.
Chardon Lakes
Good experience. Only downfall is that the starter is very aggressive, trying to get you to tee off before your designated time.
nice course
Lots of wet weather made the course a little more difficult than it should have played (cart path only), although the greens weren't as fast as they probably would normally have been.
Nice course, won't hesitate to play it again. Well cared for and maintained.
This course is challenging for all golfers
Greens were extremely quick and the pin placements were really difficult..
It was overall a great round .... weather and course were really great.
NICE GEM
nice course even after all the rain was pretty dry they take really good care of it
Too tough
Tough tee's, pins were in Sunday placement on slick green. Every putt would roll right off the green if missed. Not an enjoyable round even when playing well
Terrible staff experience
Course is fine and wasn't overly slow. However, possibly the worst people running the desk. The first problem they yelled at us for being out on the course too long even though we played in under four hours and were ridiculously rude. The second time I booked an 18 hole tee time that they then said we couldn't have because it was too late in the day. They then let the group in front of us make the turn. Good course but you have to deal with terrible people.
great day
Course in very good condition, greens extremely fast and challenging, some even seem unfair due to severe slopes and pin placements. Overall well worth the visit.
Tough Course
The course was in perfect shape. As always, you get above the hole. you pay! I like that they are going to a graduated cut in the rough. If you are at least a bogey golfer you should give this course a try otherwise you might want to select an easier course.
Not for beginners.
Very difficult. Tight fairways and VERY fast greens with incredible slope. Bring your 'A' game.
Be prepared to wait on most holes.Slow play.
I also found myself fixing a lot of ball marks.
Need sand in the bunkers, playing off the dirt cost me strokes. I'll be back, once more to give the greens another look.
This course is very narrow and has lots of challenges
The greens are very fast and sloped but in fantastic shape. The fairways are tight and the rough is very high.
nice layout
play was slow, but greens were nice.traps needed more sand in them, but overall good value
Consistently Good
This course is consistently in good condition every year. Other courses seem to be fading but this one continues to be in great shape everytime we play it. For the value of golfnow price, $24, it is a great deal.
