Course conditions

Course layout is absolutely beautiful.. I’ve heard so many on and off things about this course and had to try it out

Fairways mostly perfect

Greens.. all but a few are junk mostly dead patchy greens seems like that course has really let go of about half the features that most people look at while going to a golf course..very hard to believe this course is a top 10 course in Ohio especially over boulder creek/ sleepy hollow….. tell your greenskeeper he’s gotta get it together

Usually one of my favorite courses to play in area. Greens and bunkers were in awful condition. Bunkers hadn’t been touched this year, and the greens were bumpy and dead/diseased on the majority of holes.

Great layout

Great layout, condition very disappointing. Rough over grown with clover and weeds. Tee boxes cut but areas around them overgrown and full of weeds. For such a beautiful course, very sad to see it in such poor condition. Greens and fairways pretty good and enjoyed playing it for first time in a few years

Only if the money is right

What once used to be a phenomenal course is now all but gone. Maintenance is a huge issue here with a lot of overgrown weeds, uneven tee boxes, weeds over growing in bunkers, no other tee markers except the black tees, and green disease. I’m fortunate to play 18 here with a cart for only 20 dollars, which I think is a good deal if you get the same. I wouldn’t pay over $30 to play this course for being “a top 10 public course in Ohio”. Someone is being payed off to have this course in that caliber of lists. It’s a travesty that they are charging 85 dollars on weekends and 60 dollars on weekdays to play here. If you get a 20 dollar rate like I did, try it out. Other than that I would stay away.

Fantastic golf course, lousy ownership, cheapskates living on past history. If you cant afford to maintain the course, then sell & do us all a favor. Shame because in the past it was top 10 public in Ohio. Pete Dye course going down the tubes. Way over priced for conditions. CHEAP MILLIONARE OWNER.SAD

Fallen Off

Fowlers Mill has traditionally been the number 1 or 2 public course

in the area. Excellent Don Ross design, fantastic conditioning, good pace of play, solid range and practice greens.

No way around it, the course has really fallen off. The conditioning of the course was really disappointing to see. The greens were in sad shape, with a few touching on unplayable. The course was full of fallen, dead trees and brush. Missing signage and markers. Rotted out retaining walls and steps. Bunkers more dirt than sand. Carts were used from some other course and clunked and clanged through the round. Really disappointing for such a traditionally great course.

Not what I expected from "A top rated course in Ohio"

We've recently been trying different courses in the area and had read multiple places that this was a top course in NE Ohio but it's apparent they don't keep up with it. The greens were patchy and probably one of the worst set of greens I've played on.

We got a good deal from Golfnow for 18 but I wouldn't drive 50 minutes again to play here and would recommend other courses in the area.

I don’t know..

So as most know, this was rated and on some websites, still rated the #1 Public course in Ohio.. Well as of 11/4, I have played on 7 different courses in the past two weeks and this was by FAR the worst one. I understand is almost off season BUT, the greens are HORRIBLE.. There are painted patches all over, and the tee boxes are moosh! (It hasn’t rained in over a week).

We weren’t allowed to go off the cart path, (if you walk off the cart path though, it’s a mooshy swamp in the rough) but if you hit the opposite side of the fairway it, you had to drop your partner off and then have them go sift through the millions of leaves all over this course.. So the pace was so slow! And there was 2 sum riding our butts the whole time (we were a 4 sum)

I just played valley of the eagles and it was MAGNIFICENT! There were workers making sure there wasn’t one darn leaf anywhere! Even the bunkers! At Fowler’s, I didn’t see one worker doing ANYTHING! Literally nothing.. if you’re playing in this nice weather we are having, I do NOT recommend.

BUT! I don’t know what this course it like in the summer! I hope ALOT better!

Basic

With all due respect to fowlers mill, it’s not what I imagined being the #1 public GC in Ohio. The quality of turf was impeccable besides the thread moss but it’s generally hard to get rid of. Layout didn’t blow me away. Good time no doubt, and love the par 5’s but everything in between was average. I came from playing Boulder creek thinking what could be better and I still believe Boulder had a better layout. (In my opinion)***
