Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Nice Conditions, Boring Layout
PROS: friendly staff, nice practice area, pace of play was great (less than four hours on a Saturday afternoon), conditions were very good except for the bunkers.
CONS: maybe two of the holes were memorable, it just seemed like you play up and back and up and back with no elevation changes, a few challenging holes but nothing unreasonable, bunkers had more stones and wet sand than legitimate sand, normal value ($47 twilight rate) leaves something to be desired, I wouldn't pay more than $50 to play here.
Great time
Golf course was in great conduction and being a single I was able to tee off early with another twosome.
Pace of play was good, and the course was busy.
Staff was friendly and helpful. I have played here before and enjoyed this round as well.
Beautiful day, nice layout, good mix of holes, greens were very nice, but it took almost 5 hours to play on a late morning in mid May.
Blue Heron Pines . Just OK
Not the course it used to be. Paid $21 on GolfNow and it was worth more than that, but it is a muni at best and not as good as any of the Monmouth County courses.
Could be better...
Greens so-so but not spyked. Can find much better around (Ballamor, Sand Barrens and GreateBay).
Hole #1 so ordinary and teeoff very close to bagdrop. Strange first shot with all the noise
Didn't play well but know enough that course could be in better shape for April
With golfnow hot deal, was good price/quality but not worth the rack price
Overall layout interesting but few holes to remember
Fast and Friendly
Winter greens were pretty fast. Played front 9 in an hour, then back 9 hooked up with two-some and played in 2 hours. Fairways pretty decent considering it's wintertime. Rough was thin, thank goodness. Some temp T boxes, but overall very good condition.
great bonus weather day and great conditions
How bout a 72 degree sunny day with little wind in February! That's what we had yesterday at Blue Heron. The course was crowded with players and the conditions for February were remarkably good. The tees and fairways were excellent, the ground was firm and allowed for big time roll and the greens were fast and rolled true. You'd be hard pressed to find any course in this area with such good conditions at this time of year. The pub has great food at Blue Heron and the locker room facilities are also top notch. With the type soil in South Jersey the courses are better in the winter months than courses more inland. I'll certainly be back soon if the weather stays nice.
Blue Heron Pines ... a Ron Jaworski gem!
Have played all of Jaws' courses and this Stephen Kay gem of a design is my favorite. It's always in great condition and the facilities (restaurant, locker room & restrooms) are in pristine condition. The staff are all friendly and helpful and it's got great practice facilities (driving ranging, chipping green and putting green).. It's location is easy to get to plus, if you're staying in Atlantic City it's only 20 minutes away.
Good place to play at the right price......
I started golfing in March, have booked over 40 rounds, and have yet to play a Jersey course worthy of 5 stars. I live in South Jersey, and spend most of my time on Delaware and PA courses. They're in better condition, have friendlier staff, are more scenic (interesting), and are less expensive. To be honest, Blue Heron, Mays Landing CC, Harbor Pines, Buena Vista Country Club, and White Oaks are basically all the same. Mc Cullough's is more interesting than the previously mentioned, and it's on a landfill. This being said, I had a decent time here....decent. The staff was nice, course was OK (good deal of stone in traps, greens OK, tee boxes OK), everything OK...nothing stood out expect the pace of place....HORRIBLE. 2 hours 45 min to play front 9. I can't blame overbooking on this, but I will say the group of 4 in front needed situational awareness, and a ranger needed to make an appearance. The groups behind us were stacking up like the planes waiting to land in Die Hard 2. 2 of our 4 some called it quits after 9. I finally decided to overtake and pass the slowbies on 11. Had i not, I wouldn't have finished the last few holes. As with nearly all of the Jersey courses I've played, nothing memorable, and nothing I would pay more than a Hot Deal rate to play again.
Quality course
First time playing this course since Jaws took control. Always liked the layout the conditions
We're excellent for November even with leaves.
Price around $40 made it a very good value.
Great Day, Great Course
We had an excellent day at Blue Heron Pines. The course was in great shape and the weather was beautiful.
Great course overall
Great course layout a lot of dog legs and tricky shots. This course makes you place your tee ball and or lay up in specific spots. The course was in great condition and the greens rolled true and were some of the best I've played on. From the layout to the friendliness of the staff you can't beat the amenities and prices. I've played at all the Jaworski courses and this is one of my favorites next to Running Deer.
Blue Heron Pines
Beautiful golf course in excellent condition, greens were very well maintained and very undulation, need to place your approach shot as close as possible to the pin. Quite a few ball marks on the greens from players not repairing their ball marks.
Very disappointed
Blue Heron is one of my favorite courses. We've played there many times before. Unfortunately, the course was packed with players yesterday and after 3 and a half hours we had only played 12 holes and quit. The course was over-booked because of last minute bookings from Hurricane Matthew refugees, I believe. When that's the case, shut it down and don't offer additional tee times. I would not have booked there if I'd known the circumstances. Next point: Why on earth were course workers aerating and blowing the fairways in the middle of the afternoon on such a day? The whole thing was a mess from the 3rd hole forward.
Awful Round of Golf
I don;t know where to start. We get to the course early and it is packed. This is a problem that I have encountered before on Jaworski courses. They overbook and cram you in. Seems they had an outing from the casinos today. The course was packed and backed up. We finally got out around 15 minutes past out tee time. We had to wait on every hole. Why they would not send a couple groups out to the back nine I will never know. This all led to 5 hour 20 plus minute round. Not once did I see a ranger on the course. This let to the groups behind us to get impatient and to hit up on us. I tell this to the guy when we drop off our cart and he could not seem to care less. He said the ranger left early today. Just a miserable day of golf. I will not recommend.
