Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Nice beach area course
This is a decent track to play. Runs through a development, but homes are fairly far out of play. A little inland from beach locations but worth the drive to play. Staff is great, as the the bar after your round ;). Well maintained and playable for all. Fun day on the course
Better than average. dont go out of your way to play here
The sequence of next hole direction was not clear on atlesst 2 holes. No clear identification as to direction of next hole.
A few holes you play right along of backyard of residences. People were bbq-ing and had the music blasting so concentration was compromised.
Poor communication and professional etiquette
This is the second time that I've played this course and first the course itself was in poor condition and the staff did not properly set expectation; this go around the communication and professional etiquette it its entirety was severely sub par. We were sent out without alert that an 18 hole shotgun tournament would be going off before our estimated completion time and after waiting 45 minutes in rain delay the course staff came out to abrasively as if we should have known that the course was closed due to the rain. Mind you we had played 3 holes at a high rate of play after the rain stopped and we ran across 3 small puddles. I spoke to the club pro upon arriving back at the club house and my response to these unprofessional actions were to contact golf now and work it out with them for a refund. I believe the staff needs to learn professional etiquette and courteous communication; two traits which in line of the situation are required to attract and retain business.
Nice Course
I love playing new courses and had heard good things about this one. Not the easiest place to play as well placed shots around hazards are rewarded. I do not recommend beginners playing here as a few holes can be treacherous. Front 9 isn't bad, but on the back you definitely have to know what you're doing.
Staff was great and even had bag boys grabbing bags before you parked. A full range and putting green are available to warm up if you get there early.
My only complaint was pace of play. I despise waiting on tees and it got to the point where we were waiting for the group ahead of us to tee off. Too packed for my liking. I'd like to see them spread groups out a little more.
Overall, at $25 on GolfNow, it was worth the 55 minute drive from Philadelphia to check it out. I will play here again, but beware of the pace of play. This time, the pace was as bad as, probably worse than Rock Manor In Wilmington.
Still one of AC's finest!!
This Course is one of AC's best Traditional style Courses.. Its in phenomenal shape from tee to greens.. a lot of trees that I found, unfortunately... but I really enjoyed it... I would play this Course more often if the Greens Fees weren't so high.. Golf Now made it more palatable... Great job maintaining this Course, Ron & Management!
Fun course to play
I really enjoyed playing the course. It was a hot day and if was good they had water on every couple holes.
The greens were in great shape although a bit slow for my taste. Fairways were excellent. The Pro shop staff, starter and personnel were excellent. Very respectful and accommodating.
South Jersey Gem
My Dad, Brother, Wife, and I had a great day at Blue Heron Pines. Very courteous and helpful staff, and a challenging, but fair course in very good condition
Blue Heron Holiday
Great Course Challenging need to have good tee ball fairways are soft apongy so no roll. Back nine plays tough. Most hole require a draw for proper placemnent in fairway.
Nice course
Really like this course. Have played it numerous times. However, had we known it was cart path only, would never have paid $65 to play it.
Very nice conditions.
Had not played it in several years but was very pleased with the conditions. My only complaint is pace of play on the back was terrible. Played the front in a bit over 2 hours. The back took over 2 1/2 hrs.
Busy course struggles and succeeds
Our tee time was delayed by 40 minutes due to a morning outing. They put us on the back 9 and asked if we would mind playing it twice due to a 3 PM outing.
Say what you will, the starter and staff handled the delays as professionals and we ended up with less than 4 hour round. In my book, in a seasonal resort, that's pretty great management.
Worth the money and the ride
Had a great day playing here. Excellent facility and staff.
Beautiful day
Course was in great shape and it was a gorgeous day. The only complaint was the starter got the 4 groups in front of us off late because he let someone hit 4 tee balls because he couldn't get off the tee.
Great course with good condition
This course has been through rough time before but Ron did great job to keeping it alive with great condition. You can expect all kinds of situation as a golfer on each hole because of mixed difficulties .You will experience higher ball flight than normal here due to soft fairway condition.
Enjoyed the round
Nice course. Not for beginners, fairway bunkers all over the place. Good shape for early in the year. Staff was friendly. Would recommend the course and would play again.
Terrific Challenge
Course was in good shape for this time of year. Every hole makes you think on every shot. Where to place your T-ball and how to approach the green. Favorite holes #7 short par 4, but place your t-shot to avoid the cross bunker. #11 short par 3, over a pond and fronted by bunkers. And #14, a par 5 with it's own version of Pine Valley's Hells half acre.
Nice layout and a good variety of holes.
The was a lot to like at this course. It was well kept, varying degrees of difficulty on many holes and a nice layout. I will play there again.
