Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Course ranger did great job- great course
This is a really beautiful course with appropriate level of challenge with water and bunkers. Course was in excellent shape - only expected the greens to be a bit faster. We played the first 9 holes and at the turn the ranger proactively said things were a little backed up. He suggested we skip to the 12th hole and finish 10 and 11 at the end. It was drizzling so we took him up on his offer so we could keep moving and he proceeded to escort us out to 12. Worked out great. Saw Ranger few more times monitoring pace of play. Would def play this course again - really great!
Wonderful Course
Had a really great time. My only objection was that they let too many twosomes out. It really held up the pace of play. two members they paired us up with left after the 13th hole. After 5 hours I had enough. I definitely would go back again, but I would make sure with the starter that wouldn't happen again.
Very nice course
Good variety of hole layouts. Course in good shape, particularly the green. Traps were a little rough, but it was after a heavy rain. Very helpful attendants.
Nice Course!!! Great People
Every so often you come across a very nice course at a fair price. This is one of those courses.
The greens were "lightly sanded" due to some early morning maintenance but it really didn't affect the speed of the putts that much at all. Besides that, everything else was perfect!
Everyone there was friendly and most helpful.
I'll be back next year when I'm in town on vacation!
Good job JAWS and the gang!!!
Mt Favorite Course
I have been playing this course since it opened in 1993. It's my favorite course. Ron Jaworski really knows how to treat his golfers. He keeps the rough just long enough to make it challenging but you can find your ball without frustration. He has cut down the ridiculous long grasses surrounding the water hazards thus speeding play.
I always enjoy my golf at Blue Heron Pines and come home feeling refreshed. I have never had a complaint about this course which I have been playing for 24 years. Congratulations Ron Jaworski. You have improved a course which was great to begin with.
Nice course
I played here about 10 years ago and I am glad I played again. I will be back what a nice layout!
Friendly Course
Challenging holes and greens but friendly layout. Easy to find balls in the woods. As they have removed most under brush. Some really challenging par fours but generally fair and fun to play.
A We'll Run Golf Course
We arrived for our Golf Now round a half hour before a 9:45 tee time. The Pro shop seamlessly hooked us up with balls at the range.
With 10 minutes to go, the Starter visited the range and courteously encouraged us to finish and head to the tee.
At the first tee, we were paired with another twosome. Three of our group had never played the course before. The starter courteously explained the cart rules and pin positions for the day. We teed off and finished in 4 hours, 15 minutes. The parking lot was full, the course was full. We never got pressed, we rarely waited. No small feat on a crowded day.
The course has a pleasant layout with varied hazards. The course shows the wear a bit. Ball marks are not consistently fixed by players there. Traps are generally raked.
The course is a very high end public course. The facilities are first class. There is a locker room with towels and showers available. The tap room and food provide a nice finish. The staff, from start to finish, is pleasant and competent.
Good job Jaws!
Excellent in all respects
Excellent in all respects....Exceptional course condition!
Golf
Always a great time with blue heron pines. And food was terrific
terrific course
I really love this course, and it's in excellent shape. The greens roll true and fast and the staff is very friendly. I look forward to going back!
Very Nice and Open course BUT !!!
A number of holes require target golf especially for Senior players !! One of the holes has solid sand belt across the whole fairway which even a big hitter can't clear off the tee and a senior hitter can't clear with the second shot (most of us) !! If you go into the sand it is so wide it's hard to get OUT !! Makes for an aggravating hole !!!
Great course, conditions and staff
Love this place! Beautiful course kept in great shape by friendly staff. will play again as frequently as possible!
Solid Track to be enjoyed
The conditions at Blue Heron are much better than the resorts like Seaview. They really do a nice job maintaining the course and keep the conditions in nice shape from tee box through green. I play a bunch of Jersey Shore courses and most seem to pump out rounds and conditions deteriorate throughout the summer. At Blue Heron, they actually maintain the conditions of a Private Club during the summer.. It is well worth the green fee, especially compared to some of the other AC courses that seem happy letting the courses get chewed up like a cow pasture. Save a few bucks over Seaview and enjoy your round.
Fun Layout
Good challenge but fair layout. Long and short par 3 holes and variety of par 4's. Pace of play can slow down in the afternoon but generally get around in 4:30 at longest. Back is a little tougher over all but 5 is a beast.
Decent course
Played on July 1st in the afternoon. IT was HOT! Played as a single and rangers were nice enough to move me ahead of a couple (slow) foursomes. Course was in good shape for July. As others have said, not a lot of memorable holes, but overall it's a good layout with holes of different lengths and challenges. Most fairways are tree-lined, so if you have trouble hitting it straight it will be a long round. BHP can be a good option if the price is right, but it doesn't compare to others in the area - Twisted Dune, Seaview, Baltimore, etc.
