The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.

Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Fast and Friendly

Winter greens were pretty fast. Played front 9 in an hour, then back 9 hooked up with two-some and played in 2 hours. Fairways pretty decent considering it's wintertime. Rough was thin, thank goodness. Some temp T boxes, but overall very good condition.

great bonus weather day and great conditions

How bout a 72 degree sunny day with little wind in February! That's what we had yesterday at Blue Heron. The course was crowded with players and the conditions for February were remarkably good. The tees and fairways were excellent, the ground was firm and allowed for big time roll and the greens were fast and rolled true. You'd be hard pressed to find any course in this area with such good conditions at this time of year. The pub has great food at Blue Heron and the locker room facilities are also top notch. With the type soil in South Jersey the courses are better in the winter months than courses more inland. I'll certainly be back soon if the weather stays nice.

Blue Heron Pines ... a Ron Jaworski gem!

Have played all of Jaws' courses and this Stephen Kay gem of a design is my favorite. It's always in great condition and the facilities (restaurant, locker room & restrooms) are in pristine condition. The staff are all friendly and helpful and it's got great practice facilities (driving ranging, chipping green and putting green).. It's location is easy to get to plus, if you're staying in Atlantic City it's only 20 minutes away.

Good place to play at the right price......

I started golfing in March, have booked over 40 rounds, and have yet to play a Jersey course worthy of 5 stars. I live in South Jersey, and spend most of my time on Delaware and PA courses. They're in better condition, have friendlier staff, are more scenic (interesting), and are less expensive. To be honest, Blue Heron, Mays Landing CC, Harbor Pines, Buena Vista Country Club, and White Oaks are basically all the same. Mc Cullough's is more interesting than the previously mentioned, and it's on a landfill. This being said, I had a decent time here....decent. The staff was nice, course was OK (good deal of stone in traps, greens OK, tee boxes OK), everything OK...nothing stood out expect the pace of place....HORRIBLE. 2 hours 45 min to play front 9. I can't blame overbooking on this, but I will say the group of 4 in front needed situational awareness, and a ranger needed to make an appearance. The groups behind us were stacking up like the planes waiting to land in Die Hard 2. 2 of our 4 some called it quits after 9. I finally decided to overtake and pass the slowbies on 11. Had i not, I wouldn't have finished the last few holes. As with nearly all of the Jersey courses I've played, nothing memorable, and nothing I would pay more than a Hot Deal rate to play again.

Great course overall

Great course layout a lot of dog legs and tricky shots. This course makes you place your tee ball and or lay up in specific spots. The course was in great condition and the greens rolled true and were some of the best I've played on. From the layout to the friendliness of the staff you can't beat the amenities and prices. I've played at all the Jaworski courses and this is one of my favorites next to Running Deer.

Blue Heron Pines

Beautiful golf course in excellent condition, greens were very well maintained and very undulation, need to place your approach shot as close as possible to the pin. Quite a few ball marks on the greens from players not repairing their ball marks.

Very disappointed

Blue Heron is one of my favorite courses. We've played there many times before. Unfortunately, the course was packed with players yesterday and after 3 and a half hours we had only played 12 holes and quit. The course was over-booked because of last minute bookings from Hurricane Matthew refugees, I believe. When that's the case, shut it down and don't offer additional tee times. I would not have booked there if I'd known the circumstances. Next point: Why on earth were course workers aerating and blowing the fairways in the middle of the afternoon on such a day? The whole thing was a mess from the 3rd hole forward.

Awful Round of Golf

I don;t know where to start. We get to the course early and it is packed. This is a problem that I have encountered before on Jaworski courses. They overbook and cram you in. Seems they had an outing from the casinos today. The course was packed and backed up. We finally got out around 15 minutes past out tee time. We had to wait on every hole. Why they would not send a couple groups out to the back nine I will never know. This all led to 5 hour 20 plus minute round. Not once did I see a ranger on the course. This let to the groups behind us to get impatient and to hit up on us. I tell this to the guy when we drop off our cart and he could not seem to care less. He said the ranger left early today. Just a miserable day of golf. I will not recommend.

Very nice course

The fairways were cut nice and tight and for the most part in good shape. Burned out in spots but understandable considering weather this summer. Rough grass is patchy. Excellent sand in bunkers and bunker edges/lips well maintained. Greens were a bit beat up (most likely due to weekend hackers dragging feet and not fixing ball marks). Greens were fast, undulating and rolled true.

Very pleasant views.

Very happy we played here and would come back.

in good shape right now

Got a great deal to play Blue Heron mid week. The course is in good shape right now. The greens are firm, fast, not marked up and putt true. The tee boxes are in generally good shape and the fairways have a few bare spots but generally in good shape as well. The grass in the fairways is mowed quite low and the roll on tee shots is huge, making the course play shorter. Compared to what you'll find in public golf in this area, you'll find this one of the best in the area right now at Blue Heron. The last 5 holes on this course are top notch and I always love the 14th , which is a replica of the famous H___ Half Acre 7th hole from Pine Valley. The 19th hole is always a treat here, with excellent food, many TVs and a great beer selection. Thanks for a great day Blue Heron!

Good enough if you can catch a deal

I have heard of blue heron pines for a while and wanted to play it . Finally got a chance on Labor Day. I'd like to say that if I had to pay the full rate ($99), I would of been very upset. The course was just in decent shape. I understand New Jersey golf. Most courses in jersey are flat so they have to use a lot of bunkers to try protect the course. That being said, fairways were just average. There were quite a few bad spots in fairways and some of the greens were a little ruff., greens rolled ok. To me, a little slow. Most of the bunkers seemed ok, even the couple I had to play out of. I am use to playing all around my area and paying between$45 - $65.I played wyncote the day before and payed $72. That was worth every penny. I can go to frog hollow in delaware, pay more then half the cost and play a course that is always in good to great shape. I will probably never play blue heron pines again, even if I get the same great deal. Been their, done that. No need for me to play it again, for any cost.

Members are inconsiderate

First we played behind a 5 sum which seemed to move along very well. We were told that the group included the club champion and the rest of the group played well until the back nine. This is when the group became 6 with a lousy player. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!

Yearly Summer Outing

I organize a summer outing for friends and family while vacationing in Ocean City. We have played a number of courses in the Atlanti/Cape May County area, and Blue Heron is one of our favorites. The course is well laid out, always in good condition, and the staff is professional and friendly.

well worth the great deal on golfnow

Greens a little sandy, and bunkers needed raking( unfortunately in quite a few of them). Also no cart person on a hot and humid day. Overall the course was in good condition though
