Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

This course is usually in exceptional condition however seems to be in not as good condition currently . The greens in particular were bumpy and with bare spots..Otherwise fairways and tees were in fair condition.
Would Play Again
Positives: staff greeting & friendliness, on the course as well, course was in good shape. Suggestion: keep water coolers full.
What a change
I have played Blue Heron for at least 10 years and it has always been one of my favorite courses. It is on a list of four courses my golf group plays at 2x a week. Last time the fairways and especially the putting greens reminded me of one of the cheap public courses for beginners in this area. So everyone I asked blamed in on the recent heat wave yet I blame in on the ground crew not dealing with the situation since two courses I play at regularly (one only 5 minutes away) have managed a lot better. I have never three putted so many times and even a 4 putt since I started playing golf a long time ago. I will not play here again until things have improved. Golf can be frustrating enough without having to putt through totally bare patches (not just a spot ) on the putting green. I have played behind Ron Jaworski and his golf buddies many times and I seriously doubt he would bring them here right now.
Owner cares more about his condos
The real owner Ken cares more about his condos than this course. People pay top dollars for dead grass to putt on. Course is horrible looks like a desert.
Course in awful condition
Paid over $100 for burnt out greens and overall course that was in terrible condition. Just collecting money here, no care for the course at all.
Conditions are awful
The course conditions are some of the worst in recent memory. The greens are not playable. The ball bounces and never rolls true. Frustrating to see the management neglect the course and lose the greens every summer. Members are constantly complaining but the conditions never improve.
It’s awful to see the course fall apart in front of your eyes but we hope the cooler conditions in the fall help it grow back. Wouldn’t recommend playing right now, unfortunately not worth the money.
Blue Heron West - Great track, crappy greens.
Enjoy playing Blue Heron very much. Unfortunately the greens are not in very good condition.
Management/Course is terrible.
Overpriced, Neglected, and Declining — A Member’s Honest Review
I’ve been a member of this course for over 10 years and live on the property. What used to be a place of pride has become a major disappointment.
The fairways are burnt and neglected. The greens are even worse—bumpy, dead in areas, and absolutely miserable to putt on. And to make matters worse, they don’t even bother to properly cut the edges of the greens anymore, leaving them ragged and overgrown. The lack of basic course maintenance is stunning.
It’s not just the playing conditions that are bad. The cart girls are unengaged and unprofessional. Ownership is nowhere to be seen. The superintendent is notoriously rude and unapproachable—even to long-standing members trying to express valid concerns.
Despite all this, they’re still charging premium prices, as if the course is in top-tier shape. It’s not even close. There’s no communication, no accountability, and clearly no plan to bring the course back to the standards it once held.
As someone who has supported this course for over a decade, it’s truly disheartening to watch it fall apart. At this point, I would not recommend it to anyone. Save your money—and your frustration.
Nice course, but
Had a fun time, good pace and a really fun layout.
Only complaint were the greens are not in great condition.
Which always seems to mean people don’t worry about their pitch marks, which adds to the frustration.
Hopefully they can get the greens back to they apparently were, when our playing partners played their previously.
Jaworski sacked again
Jersey golf at Ron Jaworski’s course…Blue Heron Pines
Possibly the worst golf course we have ever played.
Right at the start the proshop girl was misery personified .
Greens are a complete disaster with several different grasses and infestation of weeds. All putts bounce, they do not roll.
Cart paths and sandtraps apparently haven’t been maintained in years.
Complete waste of money and effort.
The course should be closed
Avoid at all costs.
Horrible greens
First time at this course, along with my three guests. Fee for our group was 500.00 for the round with cart. Great layout and from the fairways you can score from Blues and Whites. Your problems start when you are on the greens as they are in poor condition. Three putts from any distance is possible lo handicap or not. Initially we thought maybe it was isolated to a couple holes, but afterwards we were wrong, all are bad. One of my guest had played this course in the past and he was flabbergasted and sad to see what is now happening. Not sure if they offer memberships, but I can’t imagine any member would be on board with a greens issue. We play all SJ courses in both Atlantic and Cape May county and Blue Heron with this great layout should be ashamed to charge a fee that normally is appropriate for conditions. I can see this course continue to drop in the ratings if conditions of the greens continue. I for one hope they can recover the former reputation of being a SJ golf destination.
Worst greens of all time
You absolutely can’t charge more than $40/$50 if you can’t even maintain greens to the bare minimum standard. What a joke. Staff was friendly. Food at the turn and after the round was great. The golf itself sucked.
Bring lots of water, cart girl was no where to be found and no ranger after 4:30 when we played
Course layout was great but there was no cart girl or ranger after the 2nd hole. The foursome in front of us cause us to have to wait! Took 2:20 to play 9 holes! They FINALLT let us play through after hole 10!!!! Green are not that good, bumpy!
Great Layout Great Staff Poor Conditions
Greens were really beat up. Made putting almost impossible. Otherwise great layout friendly staff reasonably priced. Hopefully they get the greens in shape.
Course is in rough shape
Course is in rough shape. Fairways are burnt and the greens are slow/bumpy. The driving range is always mats only yet they have so much grass to hit off of. I haven’t played here in a few years but the maintenance seems to have declined seeing the conditions as bad as they are. Not worth the money I paid.
Friendliest
My man Garry is the best, I’ve never had such a positive cool guy and he genuinely is the best. Always has a positive attitude and makes sure you feel at home whenever you come here.
