The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.

Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Great course

Here’s a polished 5-star golf review you could post:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Outstanding golf experience from start to finish. The course was in pristine condition with well-kept fairways, smooth greens, and challenging yet fair layouts. Staff was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to make the day enjoyable. Pace of play was perfect, and the clubhouse had great food and atmosphere afterward. Easily one of the best rounds I’ve played in a long time

Fantastic round

Beautiful course, perfect conditions, and a great mix of challenging and fun holes. Staff was welcoming, pace of play was smooth, and the greens rolled true. One of the best golf experiences I’ve had—I’ll definitely be back!

Poor course conditions

The conditions at this course were just disappointing. Greens were extremely patchy even some with dirt patches in the middle, which made putting extremely frustrating when what should be a flat straight putt changes direction 3 times before stopping. Most tee boxes were just dirt with tiny patches of grass here and there.

Nice Layout but greens not so much

Overall course has nice layout. Pace if play ok. Greens were not in good condition. Lot of bare spots. Extremely bumpy so did not roll very well. Many puts went off line from bumps and condition of greens.

💯💯💯

I had an awesome experience here! The course was in great shape and had a perfect pace of play. The holes were set up really well and made it a lot of fun to shoot at each one. The golf cart service came around at the right times, which was a nice touch. I originally started out here with lessons from Bruce, who’s a fantastic trainer, and decided to finally give the course a shot—so glad I did. Overall, a top-notch experience and I’ll definitely be back!

Nice Layout/Beat Up from the Weather

Blue Heron has a nice layout. It is a bit beat up from this summer's extreme weather. Greens were good. Pace was about 4 hours 45 minutes.

Hot weather
Used cart

ok course but greens in rough shape

I have played here in the past. I do not remember the pace of play being so slow (4 hrs 35 mins) which is a killer on a hot summer day. The greens are in rough shape. No water on course, however the cart girl did come by 3 times and the ranger came by once handing out water.

Blue Heron

Found what we thought was a good deal for a tee time in the summer, $69 @1218. I’ve played Blue Heron numerous times but this may have been my last. Ty r course was in terrible condition. Tee boxes tore up the greens loaded with fungus and bad spots bumps and holes. But pace of play was terrible! Not a Ranger in site to enforce it. The 2 groups in front of us were together. The first group was brutally slow. We had to be at another course by 530 for league play. We had to skip the last 3 holes. When we passed them on 17 tee, nobody was on the 17 ahead of them and didn’t find another group until 18 green. We had to wait at least 5-7 on each tee box some longer than that, especially 10. Had we known of the gap ahead we would have passed and gone to 11 and finished 10 after 18. It will take something special for me to go back anytime soon

Holy moly this course fell off. Paid $80 for backyard golf. The greens are something out of a horror movie, most of the putting surfaces are dead. Looks like they forgot to water and they died. I complained to the bag drop kid and he said everyone has been complaining about the greens. Stay away and don’t book a time here.

Honest Member Review

Blue Herron is a bar and wedding venue first and foremost. Which is no problem but when all time resources and money go towards that you cant market yourself as a “premier golf experience.” Many members feel the same way, management has been less than transparent about the conditions and upkeep that was coming for the summer. It has gotten to the point where I have had to take all of my things off property because I simply cannot bring guests here to play without being totally embarrassed. I am brought to similarly priced local courses by member's and they have made Blue Herron look like my backyard. It’s truly sad the layout is great and most of the staff is overwhelmingly friendly. If you are looking for a cheap home course for 2026 and don't mind playing on dirt and chopped up greens, as well as being embarrassed in-front of guests after having them pay $125 this place is for you!

Dogtrack

Place has gone so downhill this summer its sad to see. Membership here was a waste of money for the summer months. The bag drop and restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming but that is about the only positive about this property. The golf course itself is dead, they will never get it back to condition that would justify $125 a round on a weekday. The greens are muddy and just as dead as the fairways, while every other course in the immediate area is perfectly manicured. Go for the food and the good vibes, but save yourself the aggravation and play your golf somewhere else.

Horrible

Whoever the super is needs to be retrained. The course is horrible and in bad condition. I played this course earlier in the year and I was great but now everything is dead. Greens are patchy dirt. Paid $120 for a weekend round and it felt like a robbery.

Locals calling it Brown Heron now !!!

Tee boxes beat up. Green are brown and brunt. Fairways are now turning brown. The locals and members are calling it. Brown Heron now!!! Food and beverage staff are friendly and very welcoming. Backdrop gentlemen are very welcoming and friendly. The only two things that are good about the course.

Losing Their Greens

Played on Friday and was disappointed with the greens. Almost all of them are suffering from some type of disease, resulting in uneven surfaces and speeds. Fairways were pretty good. Tee boxes were a bit beat up but that’s to be expected at this time of the season.

Not a $120 weekday course.

I was warned not to play this course, but I gave it a try anyway. I paid $120 for a Tuesday morning tee time. In its current condition, this is a $50 weekday course. Tee boxes were fair, the fairways were spotty with crabgrass, and the greens were slow, bumpy and inconsistent. And overall disappointment. The layout of the course is good, but it is clear that this course is not properly maintained. Some of the greens may need to be rebuilt in order to have better conditions.
