Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Honest Member Review
Blue Herron is a bar and wedding venue first and foremost. Which is no problem but when all time resources and money go towards that you cant market yourself as a “premier golf experience.” Many members feel the same way, management has been less than transparent about the conditions and upkeep that was coming for the summer. It has gotten to the point where I have had to take all of my things off property because I simply cannot bring guests here to play without being totally embarrassed. I am brought to similarly priced local courses by member's and they have made Blue Herron look like my backyard. It’s truly sad the layout is great and most of the staff is overwhelmingly friendly. If you are looking for a cheap home course for 2026 and don't mind playing on dirt and chopped up greens, as well as being embarrassed in-front of guests after having them pay $125 this place is for you!
Dogtrack
Place has gone so downhill this summer its sad to see. Membership here was a waste of money for the summer months. The bag drop and restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming but that is about the only positive about this property. The golf course itself is dead, they will never get it back to condition that would justify $125 a round on a weekday. The greens are muddy and just as dead as the fairways, while every other course in the immediate area is perfectly manicured. Go for the food and the good vibes, but save yourself the aggravation and play your golf somewhere else.
Horrible
Whoever the super is needs to be retrained. The course is horrible and in bad condition. I played this course earlier in the year and I was great but now everything is dead. Greens are patchy dirt. Paid $120 for a weekend round and it felt like a robbery.
Locals calling it Brown Heron now !!!
Tee boxes beat up. Green are brown and brunt. Fairways are now turning brown. The locals and members are calling it. Brown Heron now!!! Food and beverage staff are friendly and very welcoming. Backdrop gentlemen are very welcoming and friendly. The only two things that are good about the course.
Losing Their Greens
Played on Friday and was disappointed with the greens. Almost all of them are suffering from some type of disease, resulting in uneven surfaces and speeds. Fairways were pretty good. Tee boxes were a bit beat up but that’s to be expected at this time of the season.
Not a $120 weekday course.
I was warned not to play this course, but I gave it a try anyway. I paid $120 for a Tuesday morning tee time. In its current condition, this is a $50 weekday course. Tee boxes were fair, the fairways were spotty with crabgrass, and the greens were slow, bumpy and inconsistent. And overall disappointment. The layout of the course is good, but it is clear that this course is not properly maintained. Some of the greens may need to be rebuilt in order to have better conditions.
This course is usually in exceptional condition however seems to be in not as good condition currently . The greens in particular were bumpy and with bare spots..Otherwise fairways and tees were in fair condition.
Would Play Again
Positives: staff greeting & friendliness, on the course as well, course was in good shape. Suggestion: keep water coolers full.
What a change
I have played Blue Heron for at least 10 years and it has always been one of my favorite courses. It is on a list of four courses my golf group plays at 2x a week. Last time the fairways and especially the putting greens reminded me of one of the cheap public courses for beginners in this area. So everyone I asked blamed in on the recent heat wave yet I blame in on the ground crew not dealing with the situation since two courses I play at regularly (one only 5 minutes away) have managed a lot better. I have never three putted so many times and even a 4 putt since I started playing golf a long time ago. I will not play here again until things have improved. Golf can be frustrating enough without having to putt through totally bare patches (not just a spot ) on the putting green. I have played behind Ron Jaworski and his golf buddies many times and I seriously doubt he would bring them here right now.
Owner cares more about his condos
The real owner Ken cares more about his condos than this course. People pay top dollars for dead grass to putt on. Course is horrible looks like a desert.
Course in awful condition
Paid over $100 for burnt out greens and overall course that was in terrible condition. Just collecting money here, no care for the course at all.
Conditions are awful
The course conditions are some of the worst in recent memory. The greens are not playable. The ball bounces and never rolls true. Frustrating to see the management neglect the course and lose the greens every summer. Members are constantly complaining but the conditions never improve.
It’s awful to see the course fall apart in front of your eyes but we hope the cooler conditions in the fall help it grow back. Wouldn’t recommend playing right now, unfortunately not worth the money.
Blue Heron West - Great track, crappy greens.
Enjoy playing Blue Heron very much. Unfortunately the greens are not in very good condition.
Management/Course is terrible.
Overpriced, Neglected, and Declining — A Member’s Honest Review
I’ve been a member of this course for over 10 years and live on the property. What used to be a place of pride has become a major disappointment.
The fairways are burnt and neglected. The greens are even worse—bumpy, dead in areas, and absolutely miserable to putt on. And to make matters worse, they don’t even bother to properly cut the edges of the greens anymore, leaving them ragged and overgrown. The lack of basic course maintenance is stunning.
It’s not just the playing conditions that are bad. The cart girls are unengaged and unprofessional. Ownership is nowhere to be seen. The superintendent is notoriously rude and unapproachable—even to long-standing members trying to express valid concerns.
Despite all this, they’re still charging premium prices, as if the course is in top-tier shape. It’s not even close. There’s no communication, no accountability, and clearly no plan to bring the course back to the standards it once held.
As someone who has supported this course for over a decade, it’s truly disheartening to watch it fall apart. At this point, I would not recommend it to anyone. Save your money—and your frustration.
