waldon ponds 7/6/14
Course is in great shape. The greens would be better if people would fix their divot marks
Good layout. Terrible food at the turn
Course layout is very good. Condition of fairways and greens was also very good. Quite a few divots not fixed on greens but not a major issue. Food at the turn was horrible. Purchased hamburgers and they were cold (not luke warm - cold). Hard to understand how anyone would serve that. We all ordered one and they were all cold. So pack you own lunch if you play the course, which was in very good shape as mentioned previously.
Good Choice Excluding Sand
This is a favorite course of mine however the sand is terrible-I am not sure you can even call it sand. For most of the bunker shots I take the ball out because of risking damage to my club. They should either put real sand in or simply grow a grass depression. This is a black-eye on an otherwise good course.
Great bargain
The course is in good shape but the greens are a little slow for my taste. Pace of play on a Monday was Great until we ran into a two-some that was all over the course.
Good time
Played course over 100 rounds and the course is back to the way it first was when it open. Playing to play once a week now.
The course was in great shape.
The course was in excellent shape. I know no one goes to the course for the restroom facilities but they are among the worst at this course.
Good course
Course was in excellent condition, greens were a little slow but overall a good time and value for the money. Has a great mix of shorter par 4's and long challenging par 4's I'd recommend it as well as play it again.
Worth The Trip
Great course and a great value! Will make the long trek again. I like to play and have green grass under my ball and this course has plenty of that. The course is just beautiful.
pace of play
the pace of play much better than several times prior to today so it seems that they have solved that difficulty
Nice variety of long and short holes
Teed off at 6:27am. Got slowed up on the back nine as they were teeing off both sides in the morning. Overall really enjoyed the course.
Rough start but good overall
After 45 minutes for the mgr to figure out that his staff put the wrong gift certificate code on my gift certificate we were able to pay and start the round. Yikes! The course is in good shape with challenging holes. Fairways are in good shape and greens good too. Good experience if you throw out the rough start. Kinda over priced so check golf now for specials.
Poor Planning by the Pro
We had a tee time at 1pm and upon arriving, we saw a large number of carts going off? We inquired at the pro shop if there was an outing? We were told yes, but that we would be going off the front with no concern for slow play. We normally play 18 holes in 3.5-4 hours. They had a ladies tournament going with over 100 participants! No delays? Well we were held up within 3 holes and it took us 3 hrs to play 10 holes! Then coming up on # 11--4 foursomes were backed up! We left and asked for a rain check for the day. They gave us a $14 credit? Just make it right and next time I will call before playing.
My favorite course
This course is fun! Generous fairways, challenging second shots, fast, pure greens! They have picked up a greens roller this year and these greens have never been better! Get out to Waldon and play one of the best conditioned courses in this area!
Walden Ponds
One of my favorite places to play in Cincinnati. Always in great condition.
Good value
The greens were fast. The bunkers needed work/sand was full of stones. The course overall was overall good shape. Staff very organized and helpful.
Pace of play
I would have appreciated being notified that a golf tournament was under way. It's a good course but it should not take 5 1/2 hours to play. I have played this course a handful of times and pace of play has always been an issue here.
nice course for the money
for the price we paid on Golf Now this was about as good a course as you will find in the area.
Nice challenge
Walden Ponds is fun to play, not tricked up like some, you can see everything, no hidden shots, etc. In addition to the ponds, could be called Walden "Bunkers" as well. Lots of fairway and greenside bunkers with large (and fast) greens. Best to keep your approach shot below the hole if you can. Pay attention to the color of the flags: Red = front; White = middle; Blue = back. No trees to worry about here. If you are playing well, you can shoot a score here. Only downside was the right fairway bunker on 17....too many rocks. I was in several other bunkers, all the rest were perfect. The rough was not too penalizing so if you miss the fairway, shouldn't give you too much trouble advancing the ball. The greens roll true, you get your putt on line, they are going in, but be careful of the speed and watch the suttle breaks. One more note: the practice green, I don't like it. I do think that it is representative of the speed you will see out on the greens but has too much slope for a practice green imo. (Maybe it is meant to grab your attention as you see your missed puts go 10 feet past the hole?).
Great round of golf
Total enjoyed round of golf on this course. Played on an overcast day so it was not as busy as usual. Got a great price of $20 on Golfnow which is a bargain for this course. Course was in great shape. Greens, fairways, traps & roughs were all in excellent shape. One of my favorite courses in the Cincinnati area.
