About
Carolina National Golf Club boasts a 27-hole layout designed by Fred Couples. Situated along the banks of the Lockwood Folly River, the course encapsulated the beauty of the low country. The holes are divided into three nines that are named after the birds that can be seen throughout the course: Egret, Heron, and Ibis. Couples placed an emphasis on preserving the rich natural landscape and wildlife, earning the golf course designation as an Audubon Sanctuary. They each have unique designs but they all have challenging greens that are some of the best in the area. The Egret nine will reward long, strong drives. This and the Heron nine are home to the six holes that play along the river. These are some of the most visually stunning holes. Carolina National Golf Club's three nines provide three different 18-hole combinations.

Beautiful course
Playing on a course nestled among oaks, bordering the Shallotte river and on a course pretty well maintained was very enjoyable.

After playing a really slow front nine, Ivan, the ranger, moved us to the third nine where we had ton one in front of us..Great time

Need cart path repairs
Course is in good shape but Cart paths are in need of repair.

course needs some tlc
Greens were top dressed...which has to be done, just wish I knew in advance...They need to run the mowers...tall inconsistent poanna patches all over the place...

Great Experience
Really nice layout. Decent early season conditions. Greens rolling beautifully despite being over seeded. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

Fantastic layout
Played terrible-loved the course. Great shape-One of the best I’ve played for the everyday golfer. I’m a 12 handicap and found the blues to be perfect. Will definitely play again.

Good Course Bad Course
The layout was good and the greens were fast and true. The cart paths need repair and the golf carts are in bad shape. If you have any back issues maybe look elsewhere.

Needs work
The greens rolled fast and true. The bunkers were terrible and need another six or 8 inches of sand. The cart paths were atrocious. I may need a chiropractic adjustment after that round. I enjoyed the layout but there were a lot of weeds in the fairways. I know it’s early in the season but I’ve played other courses that are in better shape. The worst part where the cart paths

excellent from bag drop to clubhouse after round
great value. the course is in excellent shape. the greens are fast and true. get it on line and you will just need to worry about speed. every hole is different.

Would not play again. Fairways bad and greens worse.

Perfect Day
Everything was great. Attendants and pro shop very friendly and made sure to look after us. Conditions were still a little rough. Played the round in 3 1/2 hrs. PERFECT DAY
Winter conditioning
Great shape overall for winter conditions but would love if overseeded fairways for just some winter contrast.. but good condition overall and the greens were immaculate. If they maintain the greens like that all season would make it a regular stop.
