Top Notch
Always a good value for a quick 9 holes. The staff is always wonderful and accommodating. Course is very well maintained, I look forward to playing here again soon.
S*%t
Wow longest round of my life and still playing… Only nine holes also. Letting fivesomes play that Probably never ever played the game in their life and the entire course is backed up like an hour and a half and it’s only nine holes did I mention that? Worst ran golf shop I have ever been to and just a bunch of jokers all around the course… If you actually play golf and respect the game don’t ever come play here… It is the most ridiculous experience I’ve ever had in Charlotte or ANYWHERE for that matter. You could not pay me to come play this course again
Nice course
Played on a Monday morning, course was in very good shape. Had to wait at first tee, but play moved right along and had a good day. Staff was friendly as was all we encountered on the course.
Short, easy, well maintained
This is a short 9-hole track at under 3k yards from the blues. With minimal trouble on most holes this is a good place for beginners and those looking to tune up their game. The course is generally well maintained and run. Very good value, would definitely recommend.
Great nine hole course
Excellent public course. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Skyline views and a great value.
Dr. Charles Sifford Golf Course
Sifford is the prototypical public golf course. It's 9 holes. It's not very expensive. The range and practice areas are some of the best around. The cart fleet is in good shape. The proshop is small and understated. The course is eminently playable for all skill levels. You can miss your ball on at least one side of each hole and still be able to play it. The course is in good shape. Fairways and tee boxes have plenty of grass on them. The greens are very slow. Even downhill putts have to be struck firmly. Beyond that, the course allows you to hit different clubs off tees, features a decent amount of elevation change, and has both left and right doglegs.
History and golf
This is a nine hole course in Charlotte NC that I would recommend to anyone who wants to play a quality course but does not have time for a full 18 holes .there is also an eye opening history lesson on every hole.
Great Experience! Tons of fun
This course is awesome! The pro shop staff were very pleasant. The course itself was in great shape. We teed at 9:10 and were done by 11:00 on a Saturday morning. The facilities are nice. Tons of areas to practice chipping and putting and a well-marked driving range. I lost my apple watch and a team member found it in the rough and returned it to the pro shop, which really meant a lot to me. Just a great group of people that work here. We will definitely be back!
Dr. Charles Sifford Golf Course
DCSGC is a public 9 hole course located close to uptown Charlotte. It is home to the First Tee of Charlotte in addition to the 9 holes of golf. Extensive work in upgrading the course was done in 2010, and the improvements and course conditions still reflect that today. The course may have one of the best practice areas of any public facility in the country. A large, all-grass range is paired with two short game target greens and one large putting green.
As for the course itself, it is a par 35 layout with two par 3's and one par 5. 4 of the holes have bunkers, while 5 do not. Four of the holes are doglegs, while the other five are fairly straight. There is water on the 1st and 9th hole, but it doesn't really come into play on either. The course is in great shape. It is bermuda grass from tee to green. The greens are very grainy. Putts against the grain are very slow, while any breaking putt will get eaten up by the break as it loses speed.
Rates range from $23 to $29 to ride 9 holes. I think this is a little high based on what you get for your money, but you can often find better deals online.
This is a great course to hit a bucket of balls or play 9 holes after work if you are centrally located to Uptown Charlotte.
Good golfing
This small (9-hole) course was a pleasure to play, so good we added another 9. The layout is moderately challenging, greens are in good shape and the staff are friendly. It's definitely a course for regular play.
Go-to course
Perfect 9 holes on a compact tract. In great condition most of the time.
Fun and Easy
This is a fun course to play with your friends. The course conditions aren't the best. The greens don't role well at all because they just aerated them. There is not a big difference between the fairway and the rough. If you miss the fairway significantly then you can kiss par goodbye. They have an amazing practice are where you can practice all parts of your short game. The staff is very friendly. They have improved the course conditions a lot with in the past year or so. This is an easy course to walk as well and a good way to have fun with your friends.
Great course for a quick round near downtown
The views were wonderful. The greens had been topdressed but still nice. The fairways were nice as well. But the main thing, was the ease of playing 9 holes in way less than 2 hours on a workday during my lunch. That is more than enough to enjoy looking at the Charlotte Skyline on such a beautiful day.....
Skip. It may be cheap but even so it's not worth it.
Due to the attractive low-cost fees and the fact that it is a 9-hole course, I have played here 6 times at different times of the year. It has always been in mediocre shape.
Drainage is poor and you will find standing water and mud throughout the course. The fairways were in decent shape once but weeds have been everywhere the other times. The greens have always been in poor shape with sand and dead grass covering most of the surface.
Trash is common and the red-neck, beer-drinking crowd looking for a cheap round of golf can be an issue some days. So can be overcrowding. The course is cheap and it attracts a ton of players many of which are slow beginners. What should be a quick 9 holes can turn into a 3 1/2 hour round.
The quality of the staff varies and I have dealt with both knowledgeable and friendly folks and others who are rude and absolutely clueless about golf.
Even as a cheap alternative, this course is not worth the trouble. I will not play it again.
Great and convenient...God value for the money
I use this course to work on all aspects of my game. Great practice area to work on putting and short game.
Fair challenge at a fair fare
I've been playing this track regularly for 3 years and it is in the best overall condition right now. After the reasonably long par 4 1st hole, the scorecard yardages make the rest look easy. Don't be fooled. Each hole presents unique challenges for accurate distance and placement. Greens are 85% back, still some apron areas in need of work; but overall rolling very true. Fairways are consistently some of the best around. This course is a great challenge in a convenient location at a reasonable price. What else do you need? I wish it were 18 holes.
You definitely get what you pay for
Can"t say I've ever played a course before that doesn't label each hole. Luckily there. was someone in front. of me I could follow. Thanks but no thanks.
GREAT DEAL!!!!
This course has gone through a total overhaul from what it was. The fairway and tee box's are in perfect shape! The greens are hard and slick. For what it costs this may be the best deal in Charlotte. Fun track to play a quick 9. Plus....$1 beer on Saturdays...I'll see ya on the first tee! Happy to support a local city run club!
