Great for the money
We got stuck behind a very slow foursome but had an enjoyable day overall. The new management company has put in some effort and it is beginning to pay off. Only the tee box on 9 needed some help but the lack of sunlight hitting it is the likely culprit.
The conditions are getting worse
I understand stand it’s a municipal course, but it’s consistently going down hill through the season. Fairways are none existent. Greens need a lot of work, tee boxes were over grown, and pace of play was just insane. 5.5 hours to play 18. Waited 20 minutes at each tee box.

Good for the price.
The course was in OK shape. Some areas of bare dirt.
The layout puts many reels boxes at risk from stray approach shots. Also several blind tee shots that require a forward spotter to avoid hitting into the group ahead.

Big improvements
I have played this course for 30 years but not in the last 2. What used to be a run down Muni is now a nice course with good fairways and tee boxes. The greens are generally small and fairly slow but were also in good shape. The staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere is laid back and enjoy a fun outing.

Great course, but poor pace of play
The course was pretty, staff was excellent and friendly, but the groups ahead of mine were extremely slow. That was the only issue besides some tee boxes being worked on.

Val of Sunset Hills
The layout of this course is good with several challenging holes. It has good, but small, greens that add to the challenge. Troon is the company managing all courses for Mecklenburg county and one immediately notices all the improvements being made both on the course and in the practice areas. I will definitely play it again!

Greens are better than I’ve seen them in years
I used to play this course when I was a beginner and had a buddy with a birthday who is a beginner so I took him out here and it’s such a good beginners course… The fairway and the rough are kind of not great… But the greens were very decent. Better than I’ve seen them in years.

Good course for the price
This course has been good to my group. We have played it a few times this year and as the season has gone on the course has got better and better. Greens and fairways are defined. They are doing some maintenance to the course but it doesn't effect your play. Staff is always friendly and for the price it is way better than other courses in the north charlotte area offering the same type course. This is one of are groups go to when wanting to get a round in.

play speed
we had a group of 4 in front of us we had 3 people they wouldn’t let us play through took way longer than should had kelp hitting several balls off tee box they took average of 11 minutes per hole smh

Not right now
The staff was great. The layout is interesting. Apparently they have not had any rain (I’m a visitor) so the course is very dry, which made the fairways and greens very hard. Overall, I don’t know if I can recommend the course until they have had some rain.
