The Challenge Golf Club
About
Challenge Golf Club sprawls across a scenic stretch of rolling farmland that sits alongside the Haw River. The lush hills are accented with mature hardwood forests, providing a scenic setting for a round of golf. The hilly terrain on this golf course will test not only your shot-making abilities but also your accuracy. Lakes provide even more natural hazards. Golfers can expect a few perilous carries over water. To add to the layout's difficulty, there are numerous bunkers strategically placed along the greens. The golf course is arguably one of the area's most formidable tests. Although thoughtful strategy and creative shot making will be generously rewarded, it’s not an overly punishing layout. Challenge Golf Club's final hole is a memorable par 5 that's definitely tough, but if you play it smart it could also be a great birdie opportunity.

Weekday golf as it was meant to be
Played on a random Tuesday afternoon. Basically empty out there for some reason which was good for me as I played 18 in 2 hrs and 10 minutes. Conditions are great. For being so hot and dry in late summer greens were amazing. Definitely on the speedy side but not unfair (although the third 180 degree lip-out had me questioning the validity of the hole size). Fairways and tee boxes were really good. Bunkers were ok. Lack of a range there is a drawback but the warm up net setup is a good option. Putting green is more than adequate and pro shop folks are always pleasant.
Best Greens
Played as a 4sum. Temps 90's, Tee's, Fairways, very good condition, Bunkers no issues, Greens, smooth, fast, very payable, best greens so far for the last 2 weeks in the Greensboro, Winston Salem market.
Very nice time!
The greens were fast, fairway and surrounding very nice. Had the fringes aerated a little while back, not total healed yet. Course is big and wide open. Week worth what it cost!’
2nd time charm
First played here in April 2021 , the holes along the Haw River where "cart-path" only back then when drainage of the fairway was real bad. Fast forward to JULY 2026. I expected yellow burned bear fairways on account of the State-wide drought, instead everything was green, and the fairways were firm to provide extra distance on the roll. The traps were perfect, as were the tee-box. The greens apprear to be airerated and sanded a few weeks ago and helped in making the greens slower than normal. The greens appear to not have been cut in the last 4 to 5 days which is very understandable then you have a drought and need to protect the greens. The lay-out is very interesting and fun. Shot an 84, but felt I missed a few opportunites on this hot ( 94 degree) sunny humid day as I have not played here in 5 years. I recommend and will be back sooner.
Great Condition
Course is in really good condition despite the current drought. Greens were excellent as always. Thank you.
10/10 recommend
Would recommend this to anyone. They don’t have a driving range just a hitting net and putting green. Start was very nice, front desk was very direct almost rude. But I wouldn’t let that stop you from playing this beautiful course.
Exemplary
Course conditioning excellent. Putting surfaces were exemplary. Pace of play was quite good.
The course presents excellent strategic challenges.
Good but very slow on the weekend
It could have been much better if the starter had managed the pace of the course.
Enjoyable experience
Great course. Not far from historic downtown Graham
Value!
This is the best course in the triad for your buck$$$$! Staff is friendly, they do not make you feel uncomfortable as soon as you walk in.
Did I mention the greens are pure!!!!! Even if you run into the maintenance crew which was rare they stop and let you continue. This is a 10/10 will play again!!!
Haven’t played in years
These greens are the purest in town, the value you get with your money here is insane compared to all the other courses in the area. If you are questioning where to play frequently in the triad, look no more this is it!!!!
The staff is the most friendly staff I’ve ever encountered.
9/10 will play again and again!!!!
Another great round
The course was in very good condition considering the lack of rain. Greens rolled nicely ( 29 total.putts) and tee boxes were well maintained. The fairways were recently plugged, with fresh dirt and seeded. Should be beautiful if mother nature cooperates. Had to.play though a foursome or the round would have taken 5 hours. The ranger was attentive and friendly. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. Will return in two weeks to see those fairways.
