The Challenge Golf Club

First time at The Challenge. Great layout for intermediate and advanced players. Greens were fast and perfect.

I've played here a few times this summer with my wife and we enjoy the course and conditions. Greens are fast and firm. Playing today with a friend and rather than one person per cart they charge $10 extra for a second cart. In this age of Covid I feel their policy is unfair, dangerous, and wrong. Really not looking out for the safety of their customers so I'll chose to take my money elsewhere...

Very wet had bad storms night before cart path only slow play lot of walking.

First time I have played this course since the Pandemic. the Course is in very good shape. Greens are great, fast and weed free. Bunkers are not being raked as is common now - just give yourself a lie if you need one. I was in two bunkers during my round and didn''t need to take a lie in either case. We've had a fair amount of rain so the fairways and rough are all nice and green. This layout has a nice series of challenges for any golfer with multiple tees to suit your game. I usually try to play courses about 6000 yds. The White tees were fine for that ;purpose. Tne club house staff and on course staff have always been nice and friendlly whenever I play here. I got an Internet special of $20 for 18 holes with cart (plus $3.00 administrative fee) for an 11:40 AM tee time. That's a great price for this course and a real value.

Played here about 8 years ago when in area for work. Loved it then. Still do. Played firm and fast. Greens were in excellent condition and course is well maintained. The carts could use some upgrading but other than that it was an excellent experience.

Played as a single and got 18 played in 2 and a half hours.

Golf is fun when you can play at that pace.

The course is in good shape. Greens were relatively fast and rolled true. Fairways and tee boxes were equally good. Due to all the summer rain and no rakes, the traps were packed sand, but all courses are that way, due to Covid. The people in the clubhouse were great. Overall, a great experience.

The Challenge consistently offers great beauty, excellent conditions, terrific value, and a friendly staff.

Mildly tight with pretty big trees. Lots of humps if you miss fairway also. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Greens were firm but sticky and quick. Rough is not very thick.

The Challenge is in great shape, except for the sand traps which are not being taken care of, like many other courses in the area. But the fairways are fine while the greens are smooth and fast. Though it was crowded the pace was good and there wasn't much waiting. Food is good in the clubhouse. And the price is as good as you can get for a course this nice.

Could be very good, if not for pace of play and cart conditions. With multiple rangers on the course, not sure why the round was 5 hours vs 4 hours. And the carts sorely need replacement (torn seats, cracked windshields, worn shocks).

Beautiful course which is truck but well laid out First time but got to know the course now and looking forward to play again. All our group meme era lives playing The Challenge. Greens are super fast.

Course in great condition and a fun play although somewhat challenging. We were second group and were told to tee off second. After warming up and watching the first group tee off another twosome jumped in front of us on the first box and did not play particularly fast throughout the day. Pace of play on front was fairly slow because of this. We were finally able to make a decent enough gap between group in front and behind us by hole 9 and upon arriving on the box at the tenth hole, a single jumped in front of us. Again, we were backed up for the back 9 and were even hit into by the group behind us multiple times. Will not be returning.

I stopped playing here a couple of years ago because the greens had all died. I recently took a chance and what a surprise. New greens are perfect! I’ve been back a couple of times since and although the greens had been aerated recently, I know where they’ll be soon enough. Happy to have this course back in my rotation and an easy drive from Chapel Hill.
