We LOVED it!!
This course is awesome!! We had a great time. The fairways are the nicest around, and their practice area is easily the best in a 30 minute drive. The greens were punched last week but already look really good. The layout is engaging and different. The beverage cart girl was great. We'll be back, 10/10!
Tee Boxes need work
I've played this course many times and the thing that stick out the most is the poor condition of the tee boxes. Many are uneven and most are lacking sod. Course maintenance needs to pay some attention to the tee boxes. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to move the teeing area daily or lay down some sod.
The greens were in pretty good shape and had a fairly smooth roll.
Still think Number 12 (par 5) is unfair as most shots roll to the left and if you play to the right you set up a blind shot. Also there is no lay up are for your second shot.
Greens are horrible
Fairways needed cut, and horrible ball marks and weed growth on the greens.
Ball marks are really only an issue on a couple greens, and those two greens were aerated yesterday so the marks have already been repaired and it'll be good as new in a couple week's time. We've also been working hard to keep golfers educated about fixing ball marks and I'm sure you saw signage on every hole asking people to fix ball marks. That is new and seems to have helped a lot. We hope you'll come back and see us again soon in a couple months post greens aerification!
Nice homes, okay course.
First time playing this course, have seen it when driving by on the interstate and have been wanting to try it out. The driving range is large with real grass teeing areas, but no yardage markers on the range, and it’s set fairly close to adjacent holes, which results in numerous range balls being spread over the fairways. The greens are fast and in mediocre shape; the green on the first hole is definitely the worst of the 18, old ball marks all over and very rough. The course is very hilly with some definitely unfriendly contours, several shots landing in the middle of the fairway rolled completely off into the OB areas. Pro shop is very sparse in offerings. GPS on carts seems fairly accurate, but the carts obviously have some kind of speed governor on them which severely limits their power; at least ours did because it barely made it up some of the more severe inclines. Doubtful if played again.
Played this course on a rainy day and it was great! Stopped raining and dried up but nobody was out there. Course is nice but the management is working to make improvements on areas of bad/no grass. Lack of people out made this really worth it.
Course is a disaster - Don’t believe the fake reviews.
The course is genuinely awful, it looks like they are just winging it. There is no way a real golf course superintendent is in charge here, the ground is hard as a rock, turf growing through nothing but red clay. This golf course needs about 30 dump trucks of sand brought in for a proper top dressing. It’s a bottom 5 course in the Upstate, not worth the time or money.
Lots of fake reviews. same is happening at the other course they recently purchased!
btw.. The owner always has to have the last word anytime someone post their honest opinion on here!
Hey Jason,
I tried to follow up on this review, but nobody by the name of Jason played on 5/13/23.
Regardless, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the course. However, a poor pace of play and unfriendly staff? That just doesn’t make too much sense considering we didn’t have much play at all on 5/16/23 and nobody has ever accused our staff as being “poor” as you rate them.
Everyone on staff is professional, kind and friendly. If you genuinely had this experience, please email us more details to clubatbrookstone@gmail.com. I’ll be more than happy to issue a full refund, no reason you should pay if you didn’t enjoy your time. If in fact you played the course and this is a real review, we look forward to hearing from you soon to resolve it!!

Awesome course!
Nice course! Never played here, but glad we found this gem!
Great value!
Traveling through and wasn’t sure if we’d get to play due to previous days rain turned out to be nice day. Enjoyable round beautiful course. Scooter as an option to cart looked like fun!
Just below average conditions, very slow play.
Local business mini tournament was cause of slow play. Front 9 was the issue because the local Ryobi employees had mini 9 hole tournament. Often found 4 to 5 twosomes on same hole waiting. Course was in fair conditions. Most fairways have severe slope due to the being very hilly, they are also very fast. You will need to play the the terrain to keep it in play. Not much rough to slow the ball down anywhere on the course. Greens are also very fast and any minor stroke imperfections will find your ball far from hole or off the green. Chances are slim I would play here again, being from out of town or if I was in area.
I arrived just before the pro-shop opened. The starter was late as a result of an accident on the 85. The maintenance fellow let me go ahead. The course is in great shape. It will only get better as he season goes on. I started playing at Brookstone 4 years ago. The course has gotten better each year and has become my preferred place to play during the week.
Beautiful day for a round
Staff in the pro shop was friendly and encouraging when we made the turn. The pro shop is not expansive, but quaint. Plenty of refreshments available. The cart was in fair shape. Most of the tee boxes were very firm, but in decent shape. Some sparseness in the grass if you weren't straight up the middle in the fairway, but not unreasonable. A few of the bunkers we found on our round could use some sand as they played more like an inch of sand on concrete so be aware. The greens have some ball mark damage, but were mostly decent and were laid out well. Clearly work is being done to improve the course so I only see this place getting better as the season progresses. There is plenty of practice space with a good priced range and practice greens to use to prepare for your round. With the price of golf these days I'd say this place definitely has the bang for the buck. I would recommend this facility and will likely return.
No red stakes
Course was in decent shape. There were a couple of holes that were not in good shape at all though. Number 12 is a par 5 and the fairway was terrible and the tee box was terrible. You get a lot of crazy bounces on this golf course and I don't remember seeing any area staked off except out of bounds stakes. If you are playing in a tournamand you hit a ball off line you would have to go back to the tee box and hit again because once again there is no areas that are staked off on this golf course. I believe number 16 is a par 3 and if you hit it just a little bit right off the green you go into a marshy area which is fine but once again there is nothing staked off so you would have to go back and hit from the tee box again. I mean for a golf course that has such crazy bounces on a lot of holes how hard would it be to put out some stakes.
Pictures shown were another time
Utter garbage! The conditions are some of the worst I’ve seen. It’s as if they do t even have a grounds crew. Also, the pace of play was very, very poor. It took 2 1/2 hrs and we only played 6 holes. After completing the 12th hole our group left, which was at the 3 1/2 hr mark. I would recommend anywhere else in Anderson. THIS COURSE is not the round of golf anyone wants.
Sir, we’re very sorry about the pace of play on the day you were there. There was a women’s tournament that unfortunately ended up playing a 6 hour round and we did our absolute best to speed them along. Please send an email to clubatbrookstone@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to provide you with a free round for 4 in the future. Additionally, the course was just coming out of dormancy and had just had a cold bit of weather when you were there. Things have really greened up now, which have drastically improved playing conditions. We have a fully staffed and full time maintenance crew whose hard work is showing now that everything has greened up. We hope to see you again soon!
Hello!
We're sorry you weren't thrilled with course conditions today. We did let everyone know at the time of booking that we aerated the greens the day before you played. When greens are aerated, holes are punched in the turf which allow the greens to remain healthy for years to come. The unfortunate result is that they will be bumpy until they heal, which in our case takes about a week. You're welcomed to email us at clubatbrookstone@gmail.com and mention this review, and we'll be happy to give you a free round of golf to experience the course when we didn't aerate the day before. This year, it's in great shape!!
