The Windermere Club
About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Great views
The course layout takes you over hills. valleys and around lakes. verry pretty. It was spring conditions when we played, so the fairways were not very lush. The green were good and the views were terrific.
Aged Beauty
What looks like once was an excellent club has fallen on hard times. Maintenance is an issue, one of many. I wish them better days.
Greenskeepers revenge?
My third time in the past couple months. The people working the desk were rude which is not normal. The greens are in great shape but the number of pins in inappropriate positions made it a frustrating day . Pins 5/6 feet from the edge of greens and cut in the middle of hills some cups were cracked and not put in properly the edges were visible on many holes. This is not normally the case here, I don’t know who set up the pins today but they were clearly not trying to let players enjoy themselves. Unless you like putting to pins in the middle of a slope maybe take a few days somewhere else
Seen better days
Windermere used to be a good course . Never a great course but a good course . Now it is in terrible shape . It is listed here as a private course but anyone can play there just go there and play .
It is a Pete Dye course and that is the only thing that keeps it somewhat relevant . I will not play there again until the course is sold to someone who can put some money in it and make it good again . I saw where Golf Digest had it listed in there top 70 courses in SC . No way ! Golf Digest was either paid for that rating as they surely never played the course . I would rate this course in the bottom courses in the Midlands area . Sadly even Pete Dye could not save this course
Great staff and beautiful views
The staff was super friendly and helpful when it came to problem solving on the course!
Value for Money!
Course was in good condition this time of year. Lots of wet area’s is my only complaint. Overall good quality course for the price and the greens were in great shape with almost no divot marks I would 100% recommend this course to a mid to high handicapper looking for a quick play on a course with good conditions.
Awesome historic course
If you want to play a course that has the makings of great course come support these guys.
Nice course - but aged
This is an older course with very good (and large) greens, fair to good fairways & bunkers.
Its age is shown by its very deteriorated cart paths. Tees are very worn as well. Course appears to suffer from lack of play.
Good layout - poor conditions
This Dye (P& PB) course was perhaps a great place to place with a terrific layout but now it is just another course that has been neglected -with little maintenance - very little.
Truly sad that a great course has been allowed to deteriorate so much.
Fast green
Love layout and fast green, Love to have a chance to play it again
