About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Counter Staff and Snack Bar Staff was not nice
I arrived early and the course was not crowded. Even as a single they refused to let me on the course or to group me with a twosome or threesome of which there were many. The snack bar server was terse and acted as if I was putting her out.
The grounds crew was very kind and courteous.
Excellent Experience
Enjoyed the course and the staff. As a single player, I appreciate being put me out ahead of a Large group. Thanks for the earlier tee time. Chris B.
Great course
Great course for mid-level and experienced golfers to play together. Awesome layout. Friendly staff. Good prices.
Good course condition and fun course to play
The golf course is in really good shape. Some wet spots on the course but the fairways, tees, and greens roll nice. The one area that really needs improvement is the cart paths. They are horrible. I know this isn't a priority as the golf course conditions are the most important to maintain but if you fix the cart paths you'd really improve the golfing experience and save the carts and your back riding on them. I'd love to play here more but the course won't let you make tee times as a twosome or a single. That part sucks. It's a fun course to play
Fairway Sprinklers Running and Sopping Wet Conditions
Fairway sprinklers were running during my round, with no grounds crew on site to manage play. Conditions were already sopping wet on most holes so sprinklers were unnecessary.
Greens were in pretty good shape. Grass in fairways was hit or miss.
Staff couldn’t be bothered.
Poor course conditions
Course was soaked. Water was everywhere. I think the grounds crew left the watering system on all night. There hasn't been rain in days.
Awful conditions
First time playing here in 1.5 years or so and the place seems to have gone really downhill. There are patches of sand and mud just littered all over the fairways. Many holes are much better to hit out of the rough than the fairway. Greens were fine but overall not worth the money even for a hot deal.
Spur review
Was surprised with how good it looked recently, the dogwood trees are a nice addition and make the course look pretty good. The greens and green-side bunkers were pretty nice also, played solo and finished in 3 hours. Only problem I had was with drainage. On some holes it was bad, but on other holes it was no problem.
I played like $^*& but had a fun time.
The day after a major rain was probably not the day to play this course. In all fairness to the Spur, the bad conditions were out of their control. Very wet and muddy due heavy rain the day prior. We still had fun despite course conditions and heavy winds. I will play this course again when the weather and course inproves.
Not worth the $50
Played on a saturday afternoon in December. That's about the only positive thing I can say.
Pace of play was terrible. Knew it was going to be slow when there were 2 groups on 3 tee while we were standing on 2 tee. We played 14 holes in 4 hours before we bailed. Front 9 took 2:25 and it was 2:35 by the time we hit our tee shots on 10. Standing on 13 tee, we saw 6 groups on 2 holes.
No ranger or marshal in sight.
First saw cart girl on 14 tee. She said we should ask for a raincheck bc it was so slow. Unfortunately no one was in the clubhouse to talk to.
Can't say anything about the dormant grass, but their bunkers haven't seen a rake in weeks. Leaves look like they haven't been blown in a couple days.
Not worth it. I won't be back even if they offered the raincheck.
