Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Awesome club
Great club awesome staff. Slow okay but not the clubs fault. Older people ruin golf with pace of play.
Great Muni Course.
Tee boxes were in rough shape but my game isn’t good enough to complain about anything. Played mid week for the hot deal price. For less than $2 a hole I’d say this was a great course.
Greens were fast on some holes and slower on others.
Would recommend and will be playing again soon.
Rude Pro Shop

Book the tee time on golf now ride 18... Special Weekday rate morning. My son and I come to play we tee off and we are rained out just after we tee off on the third hole. Before coming in. I called pro shop And ask if we bail out on the ground. Will they give us a raincheck? Pro shop says yes. Never did they say he was only gonna write it for 9 holes, So I did not even check. I just called today asking to ask to rebook the round for sunday afternoon at 3 pm, respectfully very late in the day. Immediately with an attitude, Pro shop flunky ask me what the rain check says. I read rain check for 1st time and see that he only gave us a 9 hole rain. Checks good only during week days. Rain check signed by C.C. Pro shop
Will not honor eighteen holes. Tells me laughingly to check with golf now. Who I know will not give rain check. Do not know why C.C.only gave us 9 holes. Golf shop Proceeds to begin acting like a jerk and laughing at me. Guy was on the defensive with every question. I asked and he absolutely wouldn't even consider honoring the situation. Complete jerk acting toward me. Could have easily honored this, but decided against it. Because he would rather be an ahole. Will never give this place my business ever again. Completely unprofessional. Rather than help grow the wonderful game of golf, He would rather be a smug jerk and run people off. Surely their course is overrun with people trying to get on at three o'clock in the afternoon. Worst experience i've ever had on the phone with a pro shop. I believe his name was Greg.
Great Gem In Columbia
First off, not sure why everyone is bagging on the pro shop/Head Pro. Gentleman was very cordial and easy to talk to. Paying for range balls is expected, not out of the ordinary. Range was more than adequate as well as the chipping and putting greens. Spoke to a few members who were also very cordial. This place has some bad reviews for whatever reason. My experience was great. Worked our way around the course and left happy. Def be back.
All good but...
Driving Range was closed. I know, it has to be closed at sometime to mow, but its the third time I've tried a new course and found the driving range closed. Very frustrating.
Men's room could use some updating. One stall door was hanging off the hinges and the toilets were so low they must have been made for kindergarteners.
Great Course in Columbia!
Didn't know this place existed. Never heard of it until my buddy said we were booked to play it. Wasn't expecting much. Surprised would be an understatement. This is an amazing course. Never mind the dollar value (as it is relatively inexpensive), it's just a great course. First off, greens/fairways/tee boxes were in great shape. No issues there. Staff was friendly and helpful when needed. Facilities are nice. Now back to the course. Wow. I'm a 16 handicap and your views may differ, but I found this to be an amazingly enjoyable course. This is not a grip it and rip wide open bombing range of a course. It requires you to sometimes forgive the driver/wood and hit a decent iron to set up an approach. There is no such thing as an unguarded green and there are many holes where finding flat ground may be an issue. However, I found it immensely challenging and fun. Tough, but not kick in the mouth, tough. It is my 2nd favorite public course in the Columbia area, behind Cobblestone. Really looking forward to playing it again.
Good value
Northwoods is in good shape, much better than it was years ago. Challenging course that offers little relief on par 3's. Good course to challenge yourself.
Great
The course is in great shape, greens and fairways. The traps were pack from the rains we have had, but should have rake in the morning. Staff was very friendly particularly the course Ranger.
P.B. Dye design that has potential
Unexpected P.B. Dye design that had a few interesting features — a stone retaining wall on the left of the 13th green and a blind shot to the green on 14 that has to be played over an artificial ridge. Overall course layout was good. Tee boxes were poor (I’d grade them a D) fairways were mostly dried out (grade of D) and looks like they don’t water them much in the summer but the course was still playable. Condition of the greens averaged a C+/B-. They were decent and appear to get watered a little. Sadly, the driving range is an F. Pretty beat up balls and just the slightest hint of grass. Greens fee was appropriate, we payed $40 a person. Staff was friendly. Not the best course in the Columbia area but not a total disaster either.
