The Windermere Club

About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Value for Money!
Course was in good condition this time of year. Lots of wet area’s is my only complaint. Overall good quality course for the price and the greens were in great shape with almost no divot marks I would 100% recommend this course to a mid to high handicapper looking for a quick play on a course with good conditions.
Awesome historic course
If you want to play a course that has the makings of great course come support these guys.
Nice course - but aged
This is an older course with very good (and large) greens, fair to good fairways & bunkers.
Its age is shown by its very deteriorated cart paths. Tees are very worn as well. Course appears to suffer from lack of play.
Good layout - poor conditions
This Dye (P& PB) course was perhaps a great place to place with a terrific layout but now it is just another course that has been neglected -with little maintenance - very little.
Truly sad that a great course has been allowed to deteriorate so much.
Fast green
Love layout and fast green, Love to have a chance to play it again
Course needs some love
I’ve played here before and struggled with my game, this was a shot at redemption. I feel like this could be an elite course if the powers that be out some love into it. There are places where you can score, but also where the course could bite you back. I don’t understand how there could be so much standing water on the course where we haven’t had any rain in last few weeks.
I love the layout. I wish the grounds were cared for more, and the convenience is nice.
Don’t waste your money
Horrible course, conditions, cart path, carts, nearly impossible to find the tee boxes or way around the course. My partner only played 4 holes, I played 9 then called it off. I wouldn’t even play here for free. I’ve already tried to rate this course 3 times and I keep getting told there’s still time to rate it. I feel for the young man that worked the pro-shop desk. He was very nice and friendly however if I’d have paid for golf there I would have demanded my money back. Since I paid for it on GolfNow I’m stuck with having to settle
For giving the course a bad rating.
Fun layout, but better hit it straight
Really a fun course layout only one carry over water, plenty of challenging & make-able shots. But if you aren't hitting them straight, the day can be long,as it was for use on the back 9 when we got tired. Still fun! And the 17/18 around the lake makes for a great finish!
I want my money back!!
Where to start. It was so bad my sister quit after 4 holes and I gave up at the turn. The young man working in the proshop that checked us in was very nice and friendly and the greens were in good condition. Everything else was a disaster! There was hardly any signage and we spent quite some time going down paths that lead to know where. Initially, we could hardly find our way to the first tee. We drove right past it because it looked more like a pasture than a golf hole. It went downhill from there. The course conditions, the tee boxes, the fairways, the cart paths (or should I say lack of), the cart itself could barely make it up the hills , the traps, the lack of difference from fairway to rough. I’ve been playing over 25 years and have never seen anything like it. I would not recommend this course.
Cow pasture comes to mind
If I’d have paid at the course I would have demanded my money back. As it was we gave up after 9. The only reason the pace of play was excellent was because there was only one other twosome on the course, that we saw, and they were nowhere near us. The course was more of a pasture than a golf course. The tee boxes were difficult to find and marked only with little black discs. The fairways were more like the rough, there was little to no signage so we wasted lots of time lost, when there was a cart path it was rutted and torn up at best, most holes only had a piece of one here and there but mostly just a driven bare ground path. When going up a hill the cart moved at a snails pace. My cart mate had to get out of the cart and walk the hill just to keep it from stalling out. I was afraid it was gonna start rolling down backwards at any moment. I’ve been playing golf for over 25 years and have never seen or experienced anything like this ever. Horrible conditions. The only way I would recommend this course is if they let you play for free and then only if you wanted to practice playing from the ruff and guessing which way to go! I’m truly flabbergasted that they take people’s money to play there. Never again!!
This course needs work
The photos online made this course look fantastic, but in reality it needs millions in work done. Fairways infested with weeds of every type, a few holes worse than others, maybe because they are so close to water. Tee boxes and greens had not been cut, and roughs were really high. Lots of really wet and muddy places all over. For 25 bucks worth a first time, but not the hour drive there and an hour back in heavy traffic. Course has potential, but will need millions in restoration or will eventually close in my opinion.
Last second round
Perfect course for traveling thru and scratching the itch.
At least 7-8 holes on the water.
Front nine has drainage issues, back 9 was ok.
Layout is cool lots of undulation and blind shots.
Played as a single for 6 holes then paired up with a 3 some. Great guys.
Absolutely great value!
I've been playing this course after work on the weekdays and, for what you pay, I couldn't imagine anything better.
