Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Gold Course

About
Cobblestone Park Golf Club has 27 championship holes that stretch across more than 240 acres of rolling hills. The course has some of the highest points in Richland County, providing panoramic views on nearly every hole. Formerly known as the University Club, Cobblestone Park is home to the University of South Carolina's golf teams. The holes are divided into three nines, each with a unique character, though they are all defined by the rolling hills. The Gold nine is the shortest of the three but thanks to the elevation changes, you don't miss the length. There are strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greens and tall oaks and pines line the fairways. In addition to the 27-hole course, Cobblestone Park G.C. also boasts one of the largest private practice facilities in the South, which includes a large driving range, pitching and putting greens, and a practice bunker.

Cobblestone Golf Club review- Yardage Book Golf
Cobblestone Golf Club – Southern Charm and Strong Design Just Outside Columbia
By Yardage Book Golf (https://linktr.ee/yardagebookgolf)
Located just northeast of Columbia in Blythewood, South Carolina, Cobblestone Golf Club stands out as one of the state’s most underrated public-access layouts. With a well-maintained course, friendly staff, and a reputation that continues to grow among South Carolina players, Cobblestone delivers a complete experience for all golfers.
We played the course on May 26, 2025, teeing off at 12:20 PM on a warm afternoon. At $89, the green fee is more than fair for the conditions and quality of play—and considering how well the course was maintained, it felt like money well spent.
Cobblestone’s routing winds through tree-lined alleys with elevation changes, sloping greens, and strategic bunkering that keeps players engaged from the first tee through the final putt. The conditions on our visit were excellent—firm fairways, healthy turf, and greens rolling at a consistent speed with plenty of subtle breaks. We rated the course’s overall condition a strong 9 out of 10.
The course plays to a traditional par 72, offering a mix of attackable par fives and challenging par fours. One of the clear highlights was Hole #11, a beautiful par three that demands precision and rewards a confident swing. With water in play and a well-protected green, it’s a hole that perfectly captures the course’s character— I fired off with a light 9 iron, and was able to leave with a par after two putting, which I was extremely happy about.
Off the course, Cobblestone doesn't disappoint either. The chicken tenders and sweet tea stood out as our lunch staple, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. We were greeted with genuine hospitality from check-in to the 18th green, something that truly set the tone for the round. The starter was extremely friendly, asking us how the pace of play was, along with how we were doing, and even snagged a picture of our group for us.
An unexpected highlight? Wildlife. We saw numerous turtles and rabbits, including one of the turtles casually walking across the green on Hole #10, adding some light-hearted character to the round and making it clear that Cobblestone lives in harmony with its environment.
Whether you’re a local looking for a steady weekend track or a traveling golfer exploring South Carolina’s public options, Cobblestone is well worth a stop. The mix of strategic holes, excellent conditioning, and laid-back atmosphere makes it one of the better public tracks we’ve played in the region.
Final Yardage: Cobblestone Golf Club brings together value, playability, and personality in a way that leaves a lasting impression. With an outstanding rating from us, it’s a course we’ll be recommending—and returning to.

Great Course; one of the best I've played in SC.
I didn't know of this course until a buddy of mine booked it and we played it. Wow. Beautiful course. The tee boxes, the fairways, the bunkers, and the greens were just in perfect condition. Rolling terrain makes finding a flat spot challenging. I just loved the layout. Elevation, protected greens, etc. Par-5s are rather short but usually protected with water. And watch out for the par 3 8th hole. Elevated green and if you miss the putt with too much speed, you might be back at the tee box. Staff were friendly and the facilities are top notch. I had played all the Barefoot course in Myrtle the week before, and none of them impressed me like Cobblestone. Probably my favorite course that I've played in SC so far.
Incredible Course
You will not be disappointed playing this course. I’ll play this course again on my way back home to Florida I can’t imagine what the conditions will be like in the summer.
Great Course, nice amenities, friendly staff
First time here for my wife and I. the staff greeted us and made sure we knew where to go as there are 3 - 9 hole courses. Range balls are free (this offers a nice Country Club feel), tee boxes on the range are grass.
We paired up after 4 holes with another couple which helped because we didn't know the course. The holes were challengine with plenty of risk/reward. Thankfully the pro shop gave us a course book because there are no hole marker diagrams (this woudl be nice). Greens were good, considering teh time of year, as were the fairways (dormant Bermuda, but plenty to hit from). Tee boxes were a little uneven at times, which I never understand, but the course layout and scenery was beautiful. Undulating fairways (lots of uneven lies) and a beautiful setting of 4 holes that circle a long lake. Upon finishing, we turn away from the 18th (9th on that course) green, and find Joseph was cleaning our clubs at the cart. Hard to beat. (I have a family member who belongs to the Trump course...and they don't do this!) To finish it off, the beautifully appointed clubhouse offers outstanding club food at very reasonible proces. Drinks were expertly crafted (my wife ordered a pineapple jalapeno margarita that was fantastic...so she ordered another!) and our food was excellent.
All in all, a wonderful day. Can't wait to go back when it greens up.
My wife and I enjoy finding intersting places to play - this one is just over an hour from Waxhaw and is a real gem. Wish it were closer. We'll certainly be back.
Beautiful course on a beautiful day
Three 9 hole courses. We played our first 9 on the Gold Course and the 2nd 9 on the Garnet course. Speed of play was as expected until we made the turn and then things came to a complete stop. It took near 20 minutes to finally get to tee off on 10. It didn’t help that they let a 5some tee off in from of the 2some in front of us. All in all, aside from the slow pace after the turn I’d definitely play this course again.
Great Course
Great course, Great greens, Great layout. Staff could have been more friendly, but I don't play golf to hang out with staff.
Beautiful Fun Challenging
27 hole course in great condition. We played the Gold Course on the front and Garnet Course on the back. The starter and beverage cart attendant were great. Pace of play was very very slow. They allowed a 5 some to go out ahead of twosomes which really slowed play which normally would have been very annoying however, it was such a nice course and day we didn’t mind too much.
Great course!
Beautiful course, easy to get to, security gate attendant friendly and helpful as was pro shop staff, starter and snack shop staff! Well marked for 27 home course. Great greens and fairways! Would play this club again!
Great course, have to get a good deal on it tho
Great course but if you don’t get a good deal on it it’s alittle expensive.
Nice Course
Conditions were perfect, grass and sand very well maintained. There was a tournament the morning I went and so the course was incredibly over crowded and I almost couldn't even get a golf cart but thankfully one became available while I was prepping my gear. Unimpressed by how they tried to cram so many players into half a day which caused a very long delay each hole, but I've got a tee time set again for a week from now which will hopefully shine a better light on this highly praised club.
Sunday Funday
Course is in great condition everyone was really friendly and helpful.Excellent amenities this was a great deal and we had a lot of fun.
