The Windermere Club

About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Great Place to play
In town for the holiday and this was a great place to play
Too many players booked
Nice course, but had to wait on the group in front and hurry to get out of the way of the group behind. Seems like too many players booked at the same time.
baren fairways - very nice greens
So, simply the fairways are in need of some lush grass. This could be a really nice course if they'd just use the sprinkler system some.
The greens were really solid. No complaints at all...
Cart paths - roots and such have taken their toll on the cart paths; hard to fix without some serious money.
The clubhouse is dated;
But, the staff, were incredibly pleasant.
The other golfers, were very pleasant as well; they make it very hospitable. If i lived in the area, i'd play there more. We had a good time and enjoyed the course!
Major Improvements to Course
This is basically my home course. I stopped playing here at one point because it was in terrible condition. There used to be a ton of drainage issues and the greens were never in good condition. I have played here twice recently and only seen improvements. The greens are in great condition. Drainage issues have been mostly fixed. Fairways are well taken care of. Bunkers are not full of rocks or stones anymore. Tee boxes are in great condition. They worked well with us and gave a rain check as a storm was rolling in as we were about to start the back 9. Great course definitely would play here again.
The WIN-dermere!!
This was my first time playing this course, but hopefully it will not be my last. This course has a challenging layout that is not too overwhelming for folks like me (relatively new to golf). You will not be disappointed with your golf round at this course.
A tale of two nines
First time playing. The front nine is very ‘normal’ and satisfying to play. But the back nine is a totally different layout — like links golf on steroids — with too many deep bunkers and ravines. Greens were very nice throughout. I will play again, but I’ll know better how to navigate the back nine minefield.
Nice layout.
Nice layout. Very hilly and lots of bunkers. Love that each hole had its own layout and challenges. Length is not a critical but accuracy is important. Two great par 3’s all carry over water. One was 185 and the other was 160 from the whites. Greens had some dead spots covered with sand and smoothly and ran at 9 to 9.5. Friendly staff but the. bar food was ok and expensive. I truly hope course conditions change over the next few years because it is a fun place to play.
Windemere
First time on this course and really enjoyed the challenge. Nice Pete Dye Jr. design with some waste buknkers and elevated approach shots. Definitely play again when in South Carolina
Expected a nicer course
I played here because of the 4+ star ratings. I should know better, most golfers seem to have very low standards. The layout was nice. The staff was very friendly. The driving range was adequate. The layout was fun. Most of the course was browned and the fairways had a lot of bare spots. One thing I will say though they did have five star greens. The greens were large, very fast and undulating. You had to be very creative when hitting your putt. I absolutely loved the challenge of the extremely well manicured greens. Spend serious time reading your putts, these greens can be tricky, but they are true in the ball rolls beautifully on these greens. My hats off to the Greens keeper.
Nice place to golf!
At 72, we were looking for a nice place to golf that offered 9 holes instead of a mandatory 18. Windemire offers that and the food and service was great. Carlos (bartender) was very professional and pleasant to talk to.
I understand the course is semiprivate, and while we were eating lunch 2 couples came in and for over 45 minutes talked about people falling, heart attacks, going to the hospital and all maladies known to man, so the lunch atmosphere was more than a bit tainted, but Carlos(staff) was fun to talk to in spite of them. The couples were too loud for the public location, but if they are members, they can do anything they want, right? hmmmnnn...
Needs some love
The layout of this course is awesome lots of potential, however the condition of the tee boxes and fairways was atrocious. The greens were in awesome shape, the surroundings lakes and house on the course just magnify that the course conditions could and should be much much better.
Nice
The greens were a little slow and bumpy but they looked exceptional. It’s that time of the year. There was grass covering the whole green. They can grow really good greens. I forgot a wedge and called down they found it. Mailed back to me. I’d play there again.
