Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Very wet, grass not great

The course was very soft and muddy in several spots. Lots of weeds in fairways and greens were rough.

The course is in great shape.

The staff is friendly.

More than enough challenge for an average golfer like me.

Practice Round

I went out by myself to work on my game. It rained a lot the night before, but the course was playable. Layout - A, Fairways - B+, Greens - B (punched recently), Bunkers - D (Unplayable), Scenery - A (Lake Views & Nice Homes), Cart Paths - D, Cart - A (Electric, I hate Gas ones). There was no drinking water on course. I think I was the only one playing. Would definitely play again.

Bad Surprise, Half the course closed and other half aerated greens

I knew something was up when I drove into the Windermere parking lot and only saw half the cars I would normally see. I get to the pro shop and they said "Oh didn't GolfNow inform you that we were doing maintenance this week? Only 9 holes (of 18) are open and on those holes all the greens were aerated".

I decided to play the 9 holes given I just drove 26 miles to get here. The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape and the greens of course a major challenge with all the sand and plugged holes. I would have played 9 holes twice just to get my money's worth but things started crowding up on the second go around as more people came on so I decided to call it a day.

Once this is maintenance week is done I think the course will be in better shape to play but call ahead just to be sure!

Not Great

For the price this isn’t a bad course. The greens were just aerated and had sand all over them. The bunkers looked terrible and you couldn’t hit out of them. But for the price you couldn’t beat it. There were some beautiful holes and could be a really nice course with some minor tweaks.

Too many players booked

Nice course, but had to wait on the group in front and hurry to get out of the way of the group behind. Seems like too many players booked at the same time.

baren fairways - very nice greens

So, simply the fairways are in need of some lush grass. This could be a really nice course if they'd just use the sprinkler system some.

The greens were really solid. No complaints at all...

Cart paths - roots and such have taken their toll on the cart paths; hard to fix without some serious money.

The clubhouse is dated;

But, the staff, were incredibly pleasant.

The other golfers, were very pleasant as well; they make it very hospitable. If i lived in the area, i'd play there more. We had a good time and enjoyed the course!

Major Improvements to Course

This is basically my home course. I stopped playing here at one point because it was in terrible condition. There used to be a ton of drainage issues and the greens were never in good condition. I have played here twice recently and only seen improvements. The greens are in great condition. Drainage issues have been mostly fixed. Fairways are well taken care of. Bunkers are not full of rocks or stones anymore. Tee boxes are in great condition. They worked well with us and gave a rain check as a storm was rolling in as we were about to start the back 9. Great course definitely would play here again.

The WIN-dermere!!

This was my first time playing this course, but hopefully it will not be my last. This course has a challenging layout that is not too overwhelming for folks like me (relatively new to golf). You will not be disappointed with your golf round at this course.
