Starters were rude
They wouldn’t let us play as a twosome even though there was one in front of and behind us while the course was wide open. Also, no one is wearing masks there. Greens were hard and slow and putting from 10ft off the green because the grass hasn’t grown in yet. Sand traps are mostly washed out too. Can’t wait for it to be in better condition.
not quite the mountain course
!st time playing this course.
enjoyed the conditions of it coming out of the winter.
would like to come back when the course is green and lush in the summer.
somewhat hilly but not as mountain like courses in gatlinburg.
greens played well and i really liked the layout the course threw at you
Not like it used to be
I was sadden to see the course like this. I played this course a few years ago and it was really good. It seems that they have really let it go. I recognize that this is the end of winter and the grass will be brown. But the bare dirt spots, uneven tee boxes, standing water in sandtraps, most sand traps seemed like clay and not sand, along with slowness and a player assistant not keeping the pace of play up was a disappointment. I enjoy this layout and it was challenging. The guys they paired me with were great guys who were regulars. They told me that it has gone down hill. They were a pleasure to play alongside. I’ve ha d a good experience here in the past and I’m hoping they can turn this place around and get back to the days when it was in good condition and played better.
Great value for good tract.
Had lunch before the round and food was good and staff attentive.
Good course, friendly folks, def sharing carts
It was nice to play down in the Free State of SC and you can tell it's free. No more masks or corona BS so you can enjoy life and the full course amenities. Staff are super helpful and informative. The course seemed dry but i think the dormant grass was just coming back into season. Definitely worth the money for $30
Okay for wintertime
Fairways dormant & greens pretty slow & unpredictable
Much better course to play when grass comes out & greens are rolling truer
I had many putts break @ the hole & not from lack of speed
Still for the ridiculous Golfnow discounted price of $11 due to my membership, it was worth it despite missing many putts by inches
Fairways are inconsistent in their texture with some areas wetter than others or softer/harder in spots
Fun to Play
Marc Brady (PGA) and Kyle both work well with the public players. They are both friendly and efficient.
The starter is on top of his game and keeps the players on time at the first tee.
The course was pretty dry considering the wet weather we’ve had the past few weeks. The fairways were in pretty good shale for the middle of January. The greens were a little on the slow side but I’m sure the weather we are having keeps the maintenance guys off the course more often than not.
I believe we had a fivesome in front of us so it was a little slow playing which is highly unusual. Most days they have a ranger on the course who keeps everyone moving, which is a good thing.
I don’t get to Links O Tryon often enough to play but when I do, Im always ready to return as soon as I can. Unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way and I don’t get back there for another 3-4 months.
Pleasant Surprise
Course in great shape for this time of year. Nice greens and a fun course to play. Will be back.
Golf at its best
We played this course in cold, wet, windy conditions, and it was an absolute gem. Staff was great. The course was in great condition, and we played 18 in less than 3 hrs comfortably. I’ve played there a lot, and will continue to do so.
Hidden Gem in the Upstate
Although a little out of the way, this course is always well maintained and has a fun layout. The greens for this time of the year are some of the best I have played. I recommend playing here if you haven’t been!
