Timberlake Golf Course

About
Timberlake Golf Club in Clinton sits halfway between the Triangle and Wilmington. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

4th hole par three. Pond in front and lake to right and back Photo submitted by u631580812 on 07/01/2019
Outstanding!!
Haven't played here in 2 years due to conditions deteriorating & then the required repairs. Well, it was worth the wait!!! From tee to green, simply marvelous conditions, especially for this time of year. About only negatives, greens are very hard, and hard to hold except using a wedge with a lot of spin/bite, and a few sand traps could have used a tad more sand..... otherwise, pristine conditions. I imagine after a winter of rains, greens should soften up & be a bit more receptive. A GREAT layout, (with almost all new cart paths as well) that most occasional golfers will find difficult, but for advanced players, a real treat. New carts with awesome GPS. Definitely have to manage the course to score well. Greens are slick as snot, but roll really true!!! A phenomenal golf course & a beautiful facility. At just over 6000 yards from the Blues, this course can kick some serious butt!! Play it if you can!!
Awesome!
The course was amazing! Beautiful layout and challenging. Alot of blind tee shots. Staff was great and the facilities were immaculate. Will try to play there every time I'm in SC.
Closed front l9 slowed play
With the front 9 closed for maintenance, our second run through the back 9 had us behind a group of 5 that were pretty slow.
Had to play the back 9 twice - but in very good shape
We could only play the back 9 given all the work being done on the front 9. Course was in very good shape from teebox to green.
Course continues to need work: tee boxes, sand traps and greens
Only had back 9 available for play.. There's no notation ofI this status on Golfnow booking. Front 9 closed for repairs.
Nine Hole Course.
Currently a nine hole course due to the front 9 holes being closed until at least mid September due to the greens being re-done. Of course no mention of this on Golf Now.
Beautiful Course
Playing Timberlake with my adult children. The course as beautiful and well maintained. The only negative is the condition of the cart paths. They need some work. Views on the lake and position of water hazards makes this course one of my favorites.
Really enjoyed this course - 1st time playing here
Over the past year or so I've read mixed reviews about Timberlake CC and all I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised! The driving range is right outside the pro shop where you an hit as many balls as you like (if you signed up to play) and the carts had large display tablets showing each hole along with the yardage from where the cart was at any given time. I'm a 25+ handicapper and I enjoyed playing this course (from the senior tees). It was wide enough to allow for some stray shots but also provided some interesting tough holes with strategically placed bunkers in the fairway and guarding the front of many greens. There are a few holes with water views of Lake Murray which was inspiring to see as well as Lake Murray being in play for a few holes. Course condition was in pretty good shape with a few holes a bit thin but all in all for the price I would come back here and happily play this course again!
Tough Course
Corse is in good shape. Lot of blind shots and not knowing the course well can lead to extra strokes. We were paired with another twosome and they were great to play with. The greens rolled well.
We Decided to Play the Course Twice!
Our family of 4 traveled to stay on Lake Murray for Spring Break and the Masters. Booking thru GolfNow / GolfPass+, we played the course on 3/30 and then decided to book another round on 04/02 thru the Pro Shop. Timberlake’s service and communication was excellent. We were able to use the practice facility before each round. The carts are brand new and have tablet-size GPS. The clubhouse and restaurant are very nice. The course was in great shape for both rounds and had a Masters-like feel with the yellow pins/flags. The greens on the back 9 have been replaced. They are looking to replace the front 9 greens this summer, even though they are very playable. The views of the lake are spectacular. If you decide to play here, you’ll not regret it.
Great Course, Great Time Despite Weather
Plan on coming back for sure. The layout is awesome, the course isn't TOO long that its tragically challenging, but it's not easy at all, especially with the pin placements we had. In general I enjoyed the course a lot and plan on adding it to the rotation of regular places I play.
The only real detractor is the clubhouse prices. $3 for a can of coke? Unreal, I know the prices have gone up, but assuming you get a 12 pack (and not a better deal at Sams), you're making $24 profit per 12 pack. That's a ridiculous upcharge.
Timberlake
Good course with new carts. A little overpriced in my opinion. Course conditions weren’t perfect but it has been raining a lot lately. Great views of lake Murray on the course
