Pace of play beware
I was a single and waiting 15-25 min per hole. Ranger did nothing I was pacing 5 hours on a short course don’t waste your money
Course is in great shape!
They have done a great job of maintaining the fairways and greens. I have played a dozen times there and this was by far the best I’ve seen. New carts were also a nice addition.
Enjoyable Round
Enjoyable round at a nice facility. Fairways and greens were in great shape, with a couple greens had been resodded in areas, but the pin locations weren’t impacted. Will play again.
It has lost its touch.
Used to be my favorite around. Unfortunately it seems to have been miss managed. Friday - Sunday it will take 6 hours to play around. #1 tee will have 4 groups backed up waiting to tee off. The amount of over play has taken its toll on course conditions. Staff is never willing to accommodate. It seems there mission is to pack as many carts full as possible and not care about the game or conditions. Extremely over priced for what you get.
Could be a great course...
Let me at least start off by saying this course is heavily overplayed. One of only 2 courses in Lexington. Having said that, first, price is way too high for the conditions and the poor layout. #10 is an absolute joke, and needs to completely be redesigned. It's a shame because it's very convenient, but unfortunately it's another Public Columbia, SC course that's completely lost. Too focused on leagues, member/guests tournaments and trying to make a fortune during Master's Week. So far away from what the #1 job is...growing grass!
The course was beautiful. Love the course layout. The bunker placements and the wind made it pretty challenging. Only downside was a few of the geeens could use a little work. Overall had a great outing.
Favorite course
I've played quite a few courses. I have to say this course takes the cake. It is well kept, classy, historic, amazing course layout, and very reasonable cost to play. My only gripe is it's not in my back yard. Truly love al three courses.
Good course
Recent rains made for cart path only. About half the fairways were extremely muddy and wet. Greens were fast and hard to read but rolled fine.
Great layout
I was in a time "slot" in which the pace of play was about as good as it gets on this course. For mid-winter time, course conditions were exceptionally good, as were the greens, though some player ahead did not do a good job of raking traps and repairing ball marks.
Not worth your time or money
I travel often for work and play a lot of courses, so I was excited to try this one, but the experience was disappointing from the start.
I asked the pro shop about the terrain before deciding to walk, and was told it wasn’t very hilly, which wasn’t accurate, especially on the front nine. More frustrating was the pace of play, I was waiting 5 to 7 minutes on nearly every hole, and there was no marshal on the course to keep things moving.
After the front nine, I asked for a cart since I was tired of standing around, and was told carts weren’t allowed after 4 PM, even though other groups were still out on the course with them. There was no flexibility, and no refund offered.
I ended up leaving after finishing the back nine, who has 7 to 8 hours to play 18 holes?
This is a management issue first, staff second. Policies, pace of play, and having a marshal on staff come from the top, and when they’re not handled well, staff aren’t empowered to fix problems. The course looks nice, but the experience doesn’t match the price.
