Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Great Value
Course continues to get better every time I go. Best value for the money. I now consider myself a regular here. Great topography. Great staff. I absolutely love this place and all of my out of town guests always have a good time. Highly recommend.
Much Improved
If you haven't been to the Spur at Northwoods lately;
you need to. Fist time I've been back in 2 months, and
you can definetly see many improvements. The bunkers have that fine white sand, and belive me I found a few new ones. Overall in in much better shape,
lots of fun.
Fishin', Football, now Golf
Major Improvements Completed
Over the last several months Northwoods has gone from a course in OK condition to a course in good/great condition. Greens even on the hottest days have been very comparible to courses that charge $45+. Bunkers are new/improved and fairways good. This Course is definitely where you get the most bang for your buck if you love playing golf and just want to enjoy being on the course.
Constantly Improving
Have played the course three times in the last three months. The improvements are substantial. Fairways and rough are excellent, and the greens are improving daily. They have re-sodded a number of areas on the course, have made great improvements with regards to drainage and in the bunkers.
Has always been one of the better layouts in the Columbia area. Nice to see it getting back into shape.
Great Improvement
Course is looking great, fairways, bunkers and greens are excellent. huge improvement on the course. Just need to work on car path now very bumpy ride. Overall love coming to this course.
not bad
This place has a lot of constructions. nearly all the greens are sucks. The grass on green tears everywhere. I love the 14-17 holes where you gonna play with a huge pond.
Still improving
I've been to this course since last summer and it is well on its way to being one of the better courses in the columbia area. After the new owner took over I saw immediate change and renovations. Bunkers are being replaced, fairways are much smoother. Greens are still spotty but for under $20 it's a great course to play at
Finally some cares for it
Have played this course for 5 years or so. Glad someone bought this course who cares what condition it's in. Old owners obviously did not care. It's coming back to life now. Great new owners. Greens are slowly coming back. Bunkers are sandy instead of concrete. I'll check it out in a month. Should be even better.
work in progress
I've played this course off and on for 20+years. I am very excited for what it is becoming. The 13 bunkers already repaired are full of sugary sand. The others are being fug out to replace poor drainage. Fairways are in very good shape and tee boxes are in good shape. Greens are decent, suffering from the same malady every other green in Columbia is. FYI, greens are being punched June 1 and any still diseased turf will be replaced. Cart paths are poor and are in the process of being repaved. Can't wait to play again
continue work
Some work is being done to the course, but the greens are in bad shape, just painted dirt.
expectations exceeded
Very nice tee boxes and fareway's. Greens could use a little love, but had heavy rain prior to going. Will be seeing this course again in the near future for sure. One of the best courses I've played on for the money and will be recommending it to all of my golf buddies on a budget.
Growing pains
New ownership..,,working on a few things but project improvement is so big, hard to know where to start. Course grossly unkempt, poor maintenance, looks rough, greens very bumpy
Beginner
As I have only been playing for 1 year and played at Northwoods times I have seen much improvement on the course, easy to get her times, staff is friendly and courteous. Thanks Northwoods, I will keep coming back.
Got lost a couple times
Course needs better/more signs for where the next hole is. I went the wrong way a couple times
Mediocre
Cheap public course which needs a ton of work. They have been bought out and are going to improve, but there are several courses in town to play for under $20 in much better condition.
Bad Starter
The first nine holes were great!! We made the turn & the Starter let 3 young guys tee off instead of letting us play through. Then these guys were hitting 3 balls each, it was 3 of them playing together. This Slowed everyone down on the back nine. We had to wait on every hole for them.
They have made some very nice upgrades to the course. The sand was new. The clubhouse was upgraded Trees were cut down in the parking lot area. Nice work.
Northwoods Improving
Played course a couple of months age and it was in need of care. Would have rated it a 1 or 2 star at best. Course is much improved with lots of work being done daily. Looking forward to playing more in the future.
In town for The Masters
First time playing this course. Got a great last minute deal on GolfNow. Played with a buddy and could not of asked for a better pace of play during Masters week. Course definitely needs some work done to it. Green were spotty and fairways were a little bare. Front side was very wet, not sure why since it did not rain. Definite difference between the two nines. Enjoyed the back more. All in all we had a great day and a very enjoyable round of golf. Thanks GolfNow for another great deal.
Improving
Northwoods has gotten i really really bad shape the last couple years but they are making lots of improvements. However, they need to fix their greens ASAP because they do not exist on some holes
