Nice course challenging fairways were tight at some points old-school greens with the size of them over all had a great time here
Ok
3 times we were on the actual cart path and the dang cart shut down and made me go in reverse. 2 times we were on the fairway and same issue. Not the first time this has happened there either. Course is laid out ok but fairways are a bit rough. A few cart paths you have to go back where you came from just to turn down another path to get to the next hole. Not a very good flow but for the money it is what it is.
Avoid This Course
I showed up to the course early morning and immediately got the sense that the old gentlemen in the pro shop was having a rough day or something got under his skin. Man spoke to me like I was dumb and unfamiliar with the sport. After I paid I go hit some practice putts and the same guy starts yelling at one of his employee almost trying to embarrass him. He was being very loud and obnoxious. He also was being “smart” to some of the other fellow golfers. Shame on him. Awful playing conditions. Would NOT recommend. Never going back.
So unexpected!
I have lived in western North Carolina for over 20 years. I am very familiar with elevated tees and greens, leaning fairways and undulating greens. Having played Greer a few times I can't help but think of it as a misplaced world. This is such an unexpected find in this area. The elevations, the sloping fairways and the undulating greens are dumbfounding (in a good way)! I'm about 1.25 hours away and won't think twice about making the trip to play this course; a land before dozers ( LostWorld, Land Before Time way)! It's so worth the trip to play. Don't miss out! Give it a shot!
Nice course
Course in good shape, stay on the fairway if you don’t want to loose your ball in the thick grass. First time playing the course and would play again when Im back in the area.
Not really all that playable - multiple issues
There are multiple issues.
Should not be charging full price or even close under the conditions.
Large number of sod replacement areas on many holes.
No food or beverages available for sale in the clubhouse at all. Not even a soda machine.
Fun place to play
Awesome course with great people working. I had blast. It's a simple course and it was in great shape. Recommend trying it for yourself.
Go somewhere else
This was my 6th time in 3 years playing Greer Country Club and the experience has declined every time out. When checking in to play 9 holes the employee in club house didn't give any type of greeting. After quickly saying I'd like to get 9 in, he gave me a look that said "Yours only going to play 9?" He rang me up for $22 even though the website states $20 after 2:00 PM and I started at 3:20 PM. Once I got on the first tee box it was apparent to me very quickly that the course was going to be in rough shape. Tee boxes didn't look to have been cut for 7-10 days and half of them were slopped to where your ball was below or above your feet for your tee shot. Fairways and rough had several different kinds of weeds growing all over the place and also desperately needed cut. I hit my Drive on the first hole into the middle of the fairway but upon arriving at the ball, it was sitting down slightly with grass behind the ball, due to uncut fairways (what a reward for putting a ball in the fairway). The greens had been punched semi-recently, which I understand has to happen, but the greens, like the rest of the course, were overgrown making putting impossible. This is the closest course to me, but unfortunately I won't be returning Greer Country Club or recommending it to anyone due to what seems like an all around appathetic attitude in managing the club and course.
Great Greens !!!
This is a fun track !!! It is not particularly long, but there are some very challenging , tricky holes. The great thing about this course is the greens. Think pool tables !! They have recently been rebuilt , and they are very smooth, and very fast. They were great to play on.
