Don’t waste your money
Horrible layout! Drive the ball to middle of fairways and they roll out of bounds! Many fairways are sloped 30 degrees right to left!! Add in a lot of blind tee shots and you have no idea if you’re in bounds or not!
Cafe was closed, no vending machines to get a drink, no snack bar. I would not recommend it at all.
Don’t waste your time or money.
I heard the course was improved….if it is I can’t tell. The layout is horrible. Probably half of the fairways are sloped 30 degrees right to left in places. A drive to the middle of the fairway rolls off the fairway, through the rough and OB! Most frustrating round I’ve played in years.
So many blind holes from drive to approach, there’s no telling where the green is. Several times we had to wait and ask people which direction to drive the ball!!!
Carts were controlled and not allowed to drive off paths making it almost useless to pay for the carts since the path was along the top edge, and the balls rolled to the bottom of the fairways.
I do not recommend.. At all! Under and circumstances.
First visit
Have played many other courses in the area and this one is about average. It’s in good shape except for hole 9. And it is a solid course but not better than area corses like river falls plantation and Cherokee valley, but it’s not terrible either. It’s a very tough course and the tee boxes are rock hard but otherwise the new sod on most holes is great!
Challenging course
Really liked the layout, very challenging with shot placement more important than distance most holes. Tee boxes like concrete, few greens have some nasty spots, few fairways need sod in dirt areas.
But overall I liked the course and will play again.
Familiar turn in Greer
Improvements since the city took over. Still wish they would level out first fairway and take away penal mud areas.
WJG3
Fun course, tight in places. Need to play it to figure out where not to hit it. A few of the greens need some work and you need a hammer to put your tee in the ground on some of the tee boxes. Staff was great. Good value for the $.
Bring a hammer for your tees.
This course is in rough shape. Starter non existent on a Saturday at noon? 2 fivesomes on the course made pace slow. Multiple greens had rough patches that basically make it unputtable. 17’s green is so bad my partner joked that I landed in the bunker on the green. I’m admittedly still getting used to Carolina courses moving from FL here in November but this course is very unforgiving in a lot of ways. The ground is absurdly hard so much so that I advise bringing a small hammer to knock your tees in the ground. If your balls lands short of the green forget about it holding where it lands and just pray that it doesn’t shoot sideways and bounce OB. Multiple holes are right next to each other so more times than not you’re waiting for someone to clear out of the wrong fairway. Imo Willow Creek is a much better value for relatively the same price.
Close and convenient
The greens are great, but the tee boxes are rough. The pace of play at this course is always slow (probably overbooked). The layout of the course is nice and can be very challenging at times.
It’s a great course to play if you are wanting to play close to home, but it’s nothing I would run towards.
Had a Great Time
Course was in good shape and the greens were perfect. We had a great time.
Great course
Saturday was less than ideal conditions in the morning with the rain the day prior and the cold morning. However, the course was enjoyable. It’s winter conditions but it was the best it could have been! Really enjoyed playing here, I’d love to come back and see what it’s like during the summer! Highly recommend playing here! The one hole that boarders the water on the back 9 is very narrow. Wide open fairways on the rest of the holes though! Overall, good course
Greens in GREAT shape.
Greer got a new Greens superintendent maybe 3 years ago. Course is SO much better shape. For this to be a late January day the greens were great, smooth and true. Not a long course but a bunch of up down and side hill lies. Placement off the tee and position below the hole around the greens will serve you very well here. Fair course but very much allow for the slope of the fairways. We will be back. Course is SO much approved from just a few years ago. Job well done !
No woods just other fairways
It’s a bit narrow in some places. Super hilly, some slopes were ridiculous. Some 3 - 5 foot hills in the middle of the fairway maybe 10 yards apart. Never hitting on a even lie. Pin placement was.fine except one hole I think the 10th Or 11th. Buddy missed a putt and ended up OUT OF BOUNDS. Some greens had a bit of damage but it wasn’t near the pin. I think the other problem I had was hitting tree limbs. You also have to hit a perfect banana slice to end up around a few trees. They just seemed to overhang the fairways in places. But, hit a slice on the front 9 and end up in another fairway. I’ll never play here again. I’ll drive to willow creek or river falls.
