Good but slow
The course was in good shape and the greens were firm and fast. I like the layout because it’s one of the oldest courses in South Carolina. However don’t expect to play a quick round. My son and I can usually play -8 in slightly over two hours. It took us over four due to the slow play of the twosome in front of us. I’m not exaggerating we waited 20 minutes on the 10th tee. I don’t know how it is during the week but it’s slow on the weekend.
In good shape as of 9/17/25
Course in great shape despite the lack of rain. Greens rolling good, little stressed, but they are watering regularly.
Affordable and Fun
This was our first time playing here. We had a great time. Snack bar staff was very friendly, and hot dog was really good. Carts had screens with yardage which was nice. Course was in great condition. Only thing we didn't like was how close the holes are to each other. You really have to keep your head on a swivel. There are balls flying at you from every direction.
Really enjoy playing here few times year
They have put some work into the course in the past few years. Good layout , almost always in playable condition. Staff is friendly and good food if you need a bite to eat . Not a 5 star course but a very good value for the money and enjoyable course to play.
Nice course
Nice course. Nothing too special about the place but a solid course with a few unique holes. When we played it was a week day and we didn’t have to wait on a single person the entire round!
Good option
Course is in great shape. Greens are slow, but very consistent. A couple had some bare spots, but they have them marked GUR for relief, and hey it’s SC in the summer. Gonna burn a green up every now and then. My only drawback every time is the lack of a range for the public. Otherwise, love coming here!
Great course
Played here for a tournament once., and enjoyed it so that now I drive an hour to play the course. I’ve always found the course in great shape, pleasant staff, and nice amenities.
Mother Nature got in the way
I normally enjoy playing this course. Today was different because only 9 holes were open because of bad weather yesterday. so we played the front nine twice. And the greens were not in good shape. They really should have given us a price break or at least a beer.
I still would recommend this course, though, because today's experience was unusual.
Nicely laid out, well kept fairways, mostly quiet, except that there were several foursomes in front of me in the back nine. The greens were pretty poor though, mostly sand, the ball did not roll at all.
All in all, a pleasant experience for the price.
Pieter
Greens are pretty good only a few weeds
or foreign grass.
First thing I recommend is repairing the cart paths which makes the golfcarts last a lot longer.
I enjoyed the round and had the course to myself which does not happen very often.
Rude staff
Course was decent, guy in pro shop was just rude. That interaction honestly ruined it for us. The GPS in cart didn't work, and the score cards were on hole 2 for some reason. Side note the guys playing for newberry college are awesome, they tried to help with the cart but no luck. Seeing them play was 10/10.
Improving Golf Course
The money spent by the course upgrading its bunkers and tee boxes has been money well-spent.
Fantastic for what it js
I love this place for what it is. Staff is great pace of play could’ve been better but a great time.I’m
Great Day of Golf. Wish they let non-members use the range.
Course was in great shape. Most of the hurricane clean-up is done, they continue to make improvements. My only comment is that they do not allow non-members to use the range. Why? I'd be happy to pay for that option - it is one of the reasons why I don't play there more often. I like to warm up on a range prior to my round.
Always enjoy playing here
Good layout. A lot of variety on the holes. Usually in above average condition. Never disappoints
