Garbage
Worst course conditions of any course I’ve played in 20 years
Great course
They are putting alot of love into this course. Highly recommended
Gets better and better...
Hadn't played this course since early last fall. They had just updated their parking lot, added new carts and new cart paths. Now they're adding a large clubhouse and what looks like a hall. Additionally, they are renovating all the bunkers. A few holes were closed or half-closed when I played this time, but knowing they're making improvements, it wasn't a big deal to me. The staff is, as always, very friendly and helpful. Course is in great shape, for the most part. Just know before you go that they're working to make the course even better than it's been.
Good fairways and greens
Fairways and greens continue to be good. 2 holes have irrigation work in progress and done bunkers are being rebuilt...neither disclosed at check-in. Layout is good with some long par 5s. New clubhouse should be ready by Aug. New practice putting green under construction next to first tee. Rares will likely increase in 2026.
Hidden Gem 1 Hour from Charlotte
My golf buddy wanted to play a "flat" course...the hills around Charlotte are starting to bother his knees. So while looking around I found White Plains. I figured if they have the word "plains" in the title, perhaps it's flat. Knowing Pageland is in SC and southeast of Charlotte, I knew the topography there would certainly be less hilly, so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. Layout was (mostly) flat. They are doing some major renovations including irrigation and upgrading the bunkers (white quartz sand), and laying some areas of new sod, but other than getting a free drop out of the bunkers (win!) or the sod it didn't really interfere. The new clubhouse looks like it will be very nice. Current clubhouse is temp, and small...not too many amenities, but the cart girl was prompt and friendly (we saw her 3 times on each side. At Charlotte courses we're lucky to see one at all). Driving range is small, but adequate enough for warmups, but you can't hit more than a hybrid. Nice putting green. We fully intend to return in the fall to check out all the improvements.
Beautiful golf course, under construction
Great course, staff friendly and helpful
Had to skip holes 8 and 9 due to construction
Hole number 5 is kinda gimmick-like, not being able to use driver on a big dog leg left par 5 is not the best as far as hole design.
Every sand bunker was under construction. No problems
Also the clubhouse is a temporary trailer.
The greens and tee boxes are in great shape
The course is heavily under construction but you can see the beautiful progress they have made. Can't wait to come back.
Overall a 7.1 review but on it's way to a 8.9 when the work is complete.
GaryB5/8
Played here a few times and have liked the course and considered it one of the better public courses in the Charlotte area. However, due to a massive construction project by the new owners, the course was not in very good shape overall. In the front 9, all of the bunkers were closed. The course overall was hard and dry except for the greens. Pace of play was good and the new GPS carts were great, One hole was completely closed and there other holes where areas were closed. This was not mentioned by the clubhouse staff.
Great place for golfing an any event.
White plains has been revamped!! One of SC best golf course. With a new clubhouse coming. Can't wait to see what the future brings.. Thanks to all the staff for a great day on the course.
Work in progress
There was a ton of work actively being done on the course, bunkers were being reconstructed, new irrigation system being installed, and a new clubhouse being built.
The greens were in excellent condition, but the rest of the course is a work in progress with lots of ground under repair. But for how many people they had out working on the course I can’t imagine it will take that much longer to complete all the updates.
Really looking forward to when all the work is done because this will be a great course.
Many Improvements
Course is greening up nicely. Greens and fairways in great condition. Most bunkers are being repaired. Good to see new owner investing in the course. Can’t wait for the new clubhouse to open.
Value
This course has always been a great value. New owner making great changes. Hope the price doesn’t go up after all the changes are made.
Gonna Be Great
White Plains in Pageland, SC is undergoing a lot of renovations at the moment. From a brand new club house to a new irrigation system. This means the course isn’t getting enough water to it, and certain areas are starting to become barren in the fairways. The tee boxes will also need to be redone soon as it is extremely difficult to get a tee in the ground. However, the pace of play and the greens still being in good shape makes this still a value. In a year the course will be in excellent shape.
tee box
The worst part was the tee boxes. So hard i couldn't get my tee in ground.
Fairway grass was sparse.
Big renovation and irritating going on, so I'd wait till that's done in a year.
