About
Lake Marion Golf Course is situated in the heart of Santee, one of the East Coast's premier golfing destinations. The course is routed through a series of lakes and mature pine forests. Trees border the fairways and there are 47 strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the greens. Water also comes into play on a few holes. The gently rolling terrain provides elevated greens and subtle but tricky contours. The winding layout also has a few doglegs that can be hard to navigate. Don't let the challenges fool you though, the golf course is player friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence. It is a favorite amongst both locals and visitors not only for the extremely playable layout but also the well conditioned greens that putt fast and true all year long.

Nice Day at Lake Marion
When we arrived, there was no one in front of us, so they allowed us to tee off early. We had no one hold us up but might have held up some that caught us on the back nine.
Course was in good condition and the greens were true.
A pleasure to play this course.

I'm sure that this course is great at some point in the season because it is a great layout. I must have missed the good conditions. The greens were UNPUTTABLE!! It was not due to maintenance as many courses with lacking greens might boast. They were just BAD!!
I can deal with poor rough and fairways and tee areas, but the one thing that matters is the putting surfaces. Nobody really cares about anything else. It doesn't matter how "green" the course appears to be. I guess most clubs take that for granted and take our money and run so to speak.

Good course with a great feel....staff was nice and course was in good shape....Played TOUGH from the back tees with the wind blowing.
Good course
The greens and fairways need cutting, but everything else is good. Staff not as friendly as they used to be.
This course was in great shape.
This course makes you hit all the shots, it plays longer than the distance on the card as many of your approach shots to the green are at a higher elevation. Greens are in good shape(some bare spots), and are undulating so there are not many straight putts. A challenging experience!
Very beautiful golf course.
This is a very nice golf course. It has beautiful fairways and greens, nice restrooms on the course, cold water, range finders on the carts, and some challenging holes. We enjoyed playing here very much.

THE COURSE HAS TREES AND WATER, BUT WAS FUN TO PLAY INSPITE OF THE OBSTACLES IN YOUR WAY.
Hot greens
I like fast greens but not slick. The greens are perfect and the fairways are well maintained. I left most fairways unscathed but the irons are rock solid. Overall rating for this course is exceptional and challenging for a public course. If you are ever in the area give Lake Marion Golf Course a call and see how good your game is.

Played late in the afternoon. Allowed to play a fivesome...if we let faster players through...and we did. Good layout, nice greens, variety of hole types.

excellent COURSE. HOWEVER, THE BACK NINE GREENS ARE IN SAD SHAPE. OVERALL THIS IS A GREAT COURSE BUT VERY DISAPPOINTING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COURSE WITH COMMENTS ABOUT THE BACK NINE. SANTEE COOPER(NEXT DOOR) DOES NOT HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM
Many greens seriously diseased with bare spots.
Played Monday June 9th. Great course with fairways and tee boxes in pristine condition. Some greens are in excellent condition, fast and true putting conditions. Unfortunately many of the greens are covered in patches of bare black patches of no grass. The bare patches range in size of silver dollar size to 8 or 10 inches in diameter. Some greens were not affected, some had just a portion of green affected, and some greens had these bare spots everywhere on the greens. When you had to put through these both the line and the speed of the putt would be unpredictably affected by these bare spots in the green. I would highly recommend this course when the greens are decent condition.
Greens need serious work!
This course was average at best. The greens had some serious issues(mold) and need attention! In addition there was a rude maintenance crew blower operator that just drove by me on the green and blew grass in my face and didn't care. Bad experience.
A gem in Santee
For this time of year Lake Marion is in the best shape of all the courses we have played this year. Fairways are perfect and greens are in excellent shape.
Course is challenging and you need to think your way around the course. The greens are big so just landing on the green does not assure a two putt. Can't wait to play again.
Love the GPS
We played the first nine holes.We are advanced beginners and found the course to be very good. Challenging with the water and bunkers but not frustrating. Love the GPS in the carts. Nice that they have a driving range to be able to warm up. Well stocked pro shop.
Favourite course in the area
Made a point of playing this course twice! Absolutely was the consensus favourite of our group in the area. Was challenging enough to keep you interested but still was open enough in spots to pull out the driver. Greens and fairways we're excellent and carts with GPS were an added bonus. Would play this course any time I was in the area. It was a great experience and the course had an excellent layout.
