The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Slow play
They should not let five sums out. They should also have a ranger out there keeping up with speed of play a 6-hour plus round on a Tuesday afternoon is unacceptable
Raines our second half
I was rained out the second half of the round. John at the shop said I had to contact GolfNow to get a rain check or refund. Can’t find an email or phone number. Can you please help out?
Great course
30 min drive from downtown Charleston, great course, greens ran fast and true, bunker sand was soft and fluffy, fairways in great shape, amazing value !!!! A+
This course is great value
I would say the best thing going for this course is the value. Not many courses in the area can compete with the price I paid.
I love the layout of it. Long hitters have decisions to make on a lot of holes but average golfers will probably only make decisions on the back 9.
My only concern when playing here is how well the course has been maintained. There’s a lot of crabgrass creeping into fairways, and tee boxes are hit or miss.
Overall good value compared to courses in similar area.
Review
Decent course for the money. Even with an early tee time the course was already backed up. Would be nice if they’d book the same amount of golfers but rotate starting on one and ten between them.
Awesome Staff!!
Course was well maintained! Friendly and helpful staff. I forgot my putter headcover on one of the greens and they allowed me to go look for it. When the cart behind me turned it in, the staff came and found me so they could give it to me.
Don't bother
This course has a nice layout on the front nine, (Left after nine). Green complexes are awesome, if only they did some maintenance, They would be a lot of fun. Played behind 3 members who spent a lot of time throwing clubs and cussing. Greens are in bad shape, tee boxes are hard as concrete, little grass on fairways. Was making turn behind the 3 members when another threesome cut in. I didn't feel like a 3 hour back nine so I left. Go play at Wescott plantation, better course, it cost less and pace of play is better.
Great course and great value !
Visiting CHS from Hawaii and found this course as a good value for the price.
Course is Recovering Nicely
Greens are rounding back into shape. Always a nice course to play when maintained properly.
bad greens
there was a black maybe fungus on all 18
greens. it was like putting on a sculptured carpet . awful!
tee boxes were hard.
fairway were good.
$32.
won't go back
Good Layout, Needs Lots of Work
My brother and I played this course yesterday, pace of play was good however you would expect that on a Thursday afternoon.
Course conditions are not very good, crabgrass on many tee boxes, all areas around greens needed to be mowed and trimmed, greens not in great condition however they did roll true.
Wish I could say more positive things about the course but just needs more maintenance.
Save your money
This place should be embarrassed to charge the rates they charge to play this course. Bear up range balls that are so worn out the dimples have worn off. No actual holes on the putting green. Crabgrass and weeds everywhere in the fairways and around the green. Amd the greens are the worst of all dead burnt out spots everywhere 1000 unrepaired ball marks on every green make it impossible to putt fir any kind of score. Do yourself a favor and skip playing here. Also no ranger on the course so pace of play was pushing 5 hours and oh no beverage cart either. Not even close to being worth $60 per round.
Tough course
If you don’t hit fairways over 50% of the time, bring at least a dozen balls. Water meanders along most holes and across them also. Hit a hook and your ball is on a neighbor’s lawn (gone). Mounds along the rough will almost ensure a stray ball gets a bad bounce.
Fairways were pretty well grown in and healthy. Greens still needed some growing in but I hear they have been on the mend so I guess they’re coming along. Tee boxes were hard but the greens were not so hard. A 7 iron hit off the toe was still able to stop close to the pitch mark.
The gentleman in the pro shop was friendly along with the starter.
The round took 5 hours and we were right behind the group ahead and we never saw a ranger to prod us along. I assume this meant that everyone was just jacked up with nothing else to do about it.
Pine Forest SLOW Greens
First time playing there in over one year. Course looks okay, but greens are terribly slow. Lots of unrepaired/unhealed ball marks on greens and divots in fairways. Good value for Weekday afternoon. Will play again. Hoping the greens are better next visit.
