The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Challenging layout, good condition
Challenging layout, lots of water, some fairways are semi link style with rolling hills. Greens are quick with some challenging undulations. Really liked the course. The driving range is mat only, so not thrilled with that.
6 hour round
Longest round of my life. Ranger dis nothing to speed things up. Slowest round I’ve ever had
Quite satisfying
Played here for the first time with a foursome on a Saturday and all of us were pretty happy. The course is surprisingly hilly for one close to the coast, with some tricky dunes and collection areas around the greens, as well as unseen lagoons, so it’s delightfully challenging to the average golfer.
The greens were on the slow side, but very puttable. Likely kept on the slow side so they don’t get burned out and/or frustrate amateurs with the slope of some of the greens.
If I had to be critical, the water coolers on the course were basically empty, just a trickle of warm water left, the ball washers were also lacking fluids, and some tee boxes could use some more grass. Fairways were pretty good, rough had some crab grass and thick-leaf grasses, but all in all, can’t really complain for the decent price. Kinda wish I were a local, I’d surely look into a membership package!
Slow play
They should not let five sums out. They should also have a ranger out there keeping up with speed of play a 6-hour plus round on a Tuesday afternoon is unacceptable
Raines our second half
I was rained out the second half of the round. John at the shop said I had to contact GolfNow to get a rain check or refund. Can’t find an email or phone number. Can you please help out?
Great course
30 min drive from downtown Charleston, great course, greens ran fast and true, bunker sand was soft and fluffy, fairways in great shape, amazing value !!!! A+
This course is great value
I would say the best thing going for this course is the value. Not many courses in the area can compete with the price I paid.
I love the layout of it. Long hitters have decisions to make on a lot of holes but average golfers will probably only make decisions on the back 9.
My only concern when playing here is how well the course has been maintained. There’s a lot of crabgrass creeping into fairways, and tee boxes are hit or miss.
Overall good value compared to courses in similar area.
Review
Decent course for the money. Even with an early tee time the course was already backed up. Would be nice if they’d book the same amount of golfers but rotate starting on one and ten between them.
Awesome Staff!!
Course was well maintained! Friendly and helpful staff. I forgot my putter headcover on one of the greens and they allowed me to go look for it. When the cart behind me turned it in, the staff came and found me so they could give it to me.
Don't bother
This course has a nice layout on the front nine, (Left after nine). Green complexes are awesome, if only they did some maintenance, They would be a lot of fun. Played behind 3 members who spent a lot of time throwing clubs and cussing. Greens are in bad shape, tee boxes are hard as concrete, little grass on fairways. Was making turn behind the 3 members when another threesome cut in. I didn't feel like a 3 hour back nine so I left. Go play at Wescott plantation, better course, it cost less and pace of play is better.
