Woodlake Country Club
About
The natural beauty of Woodlake is mirrored in reflections upon the water that now covers the shallow basin where once meandered the estuaries of Cypress and Crane's Creeks. These fertile waterways encouraged a thriving habitat for wildlife and vegetation that continues to exist today. With this vision also came a plan to build a spectacular golf course dedicated to the waterfront, and architect Ellis Maples completed the task in grand style, designing an exciting course with the lake coming into play in nine of the eighteen holes.

Hotdeal
It is a fun track and in good condition. Played here a few times in the winter and <$100 is great. If you can get the hotdeal rate now, then it’s worth it. I just can’t justify it at $180.
Overpriced
Not a bad course. Challenging greens. Feel like $150-$180 is steep. Not a great clubhouse and so much construction going on from the dam still being fixed. #2 is a unique layout and #8 par 3 is a fun hole to play. Other than those, nothing really memorable. During winter when rates are ~$100 that’s when it’s worth the time.
Considering the circumstances of new ownership, the course is in decent condition. However, in the same breath, it should not be $140/round. In its glory days yes, but certainly not now.
The course did have an awesome layout featuring some of my favorite par 3s to date. Plus a ton of water holes always make for an exciting round.
I’d say this course should be $75 at best right now.
Woodlake - Maples
Overall this was a nice course with some fantastic holes. The course did seem to hold water and seems to have a tough time with drainage. The staff was super friendly which certainly helped with the rating. Despite the nice layout and overall good condition of the course, at this time I would not say it is worth the cost of $140/round. I’d say this is a $70 course at best.
Good course. Slightly overpriced
Great track. A little expensive. Dam still under repair makes for some construction noise at a few holes. Overall would play again.
Solid layout.
Good course. The greens were firm and fast. I last this course 25 years ago. I had a great time.
Outstanding Course!
I would give Woodlake CC a 7/5 if I could given my first time experience on this terrific track.
It’s a stunning unique layout with a tough and testy feel to it.
Staff friendliness is what stood out to begin with . I had forgotten to grab my putter and had driven 90 some miles to get there, Baxter let me borrow his Ping out of kindness. Superb members who were wonderful to talk to and great kitchen staff that put together delicious lunch was what I encountered .
The course is perfect . Bunkers all in great shape , greens were fast and pure , and fairways in immaculate condition . For the price I paid on Golfnow , I feel immensely fortunate and deeply grateful for the experience . Thank you again for having me :)
Solid Course!
Heard that it was shut down for about 5 years if I’m not mistaken. Was a bit concerned reading reviews from prior to the shutdown as it looked quite rough, but since they reopened I think I only found a few reviews below 5 star.
I can certainly understand why! The staff were all great (security guard can be rude but that’s with the territory). Course was in great shape and the opening stretch of holes were beautiful.
Will be awesome when they reopen the original clubhouse
Hidden Gem
We come to the Pinehurst area every October with a group of 12 golfers and routinely play many of the same course, our favorites. This year due to course availability we had a explore other options. After much research we decided to add Woodlake to our list of courses. Always a little concerned with playing a new course, but Woodlake didn’t disappoint. They have gone through a complete renovation and the course was in excellent condition. All of the staff was super nice and very helpful. The layout of beautiful and the facilities were top notch. Can’t say enough about it. Highly recommend!
Great course in great condition
Played here often since first time in 1980. Course in great shape. The renovation is wonderful. Can't wait for the dam to be completed and lake restored. The traps are a challenge, , very old school.
Pinehurst level quality & beauty
Great conditions & stunning views. The greens were the highlight. Perfectly cut & great speed.
Sleeper course in the sandhills
Conditions are excellent, this is on par with many of the resort courses found within the sandhills. Really fun layout and incredible greens, once they finish the dam and refill the lake this place is going to be an amazing option for a sandhills golf trip
Amazing updates
This course is 100% better and will now be in my top 3 places to go to, it still has a little ways to go but just WOW!
