Lake at Carolina Trace Country Club

The Carolina Trace Lake course is super underrated considering it’s competition in the surrounding areas. The layout is fantastic and the conditions are top tier. Best bang for your buck!! Thanks again!!

Course is fabulous. Always in great shape. Greens were 12..girl in shop super nice unlike most there. Bar and grill shut. place is weird but course is awesome. Superintendent is fabulous.

Greens fees are ridiculous for this course. The Pro Shop snack bar was atrocious, old hot dogs and a very limited selection of drinks and snacks, that were equally atrociously priced. I’m not sure this would ever be a place I would return to or recommend. They need to recognize it is by no means a special course but the pricing is completely ridiculous

This course is always in excellent condition. I’ve played both the Lake and Creek course and struggle to say which wins. I’ll give a slight nod to the Lake course due to the views. Both courses have fantastic layouts that don’t punish you a ton for going for it. However trouble is placed strategically to still make you think. Course doesn’t play exceptionally long, however still hard to score. Greens read true and fairly straight with only a couple holes with a lot of break.

This place is phenomenal! Impeccably maintained and not for the faint of heart. This is an extremely fun and challenging course. I’m not a member yet but hope to be some day as the rate and initiation is very doable compared to some. I played the Lake course twice and looking forward to playing the more challenging Creek next! Bring an extra sleeve or two. You might need it. Pro shop is top notch! As are the staff. Only one thing I’d change is the gas carts and they didn’t have much for food options. That being said, give this place a go! You will not be disappointed!

It’s a fun course to play once or twice but it’s definitely not an amazing course for the price point. It’s a rather expensive round for just a decent course not amazing by any means.

This course had a wonderful layout and excellent course conditions which made for a great day of golf. Easily one of the premier courses in the area!

Very nice course. I’ve lived in Sanford for about 8 years but never played here. I was not disappointed. Will definitely be playing here more often.

Except for 3 notable holes, pretty unremarkable design. Tee boxes were horrible, fairways were sparse, greens were spongy and slow, sand had grass in it and rough was very inconsistent. Save you $100+ and find somewhere else to play. Very little RTJ feel to the design. Very disappointing.

We played The Lakes on a wonderful low 80s afternoon..there had been a fair amount of rain in proceeding days, so a few spots were slightly wet and greens a little slow, but we enjoyed the round. If I were to change anything here, I'd put in some hybrid Bermuda greens to speed the up & reduce the grain(which you could easily read by looking at the rough vs smooth side of each flagstick cup). Otherwise a great layout...I parred all 4 par threes, which have a lot of trouble lurking, so I left a happy camper.

Really fun course. Lots of doglegs and elevation changes. Have to use your whole bag. Looking forward to my next round there.

First time playing here. Greens were about 2 weeks out being punched so that was the biggest challenge. Layout was awesome and we played in 3 hours, although it was hot that day. Definitely going to go back when greens are 100%. This is a course you need to see first before you can challenge some holes.

The course was great and the staff was very nice and helpful. Only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5, for course conditions, was due to the course had been plugged a few days prior. There were no dirt clumps everywhere but holes were still present. The price was significantly discounted due to this so no complaints and it still played great!
