Have been playing here for years. Has a decent layout with some challenging holes. This time, the course was in terrible shape from tee to green. Almost unplayable bad. There are not too many courses now for $55, so if you just want a cheap spot to hit it around, it works. If you are looking for a halfway serious round, pay another $25 and play elsewhere.

The back nine were really rough. A lot of unkept grass in the fairways. Greens suffered a lot, bare spots and sand. Carts were well kept. Would be good if there were portable potties around the course.

It is a shame what happened to this course. It is a fun layout, but was in awful shape. I have never played a course in worse shape. A Dog track at best!

Crazy we look to play in souther pines because it should be the honey of golf courses we play all around and always book a course looking at the price thinking of what we gonna get $65 we expected a good course when we got there man what a waste terrible conditions from top to bottom when we made the turn we were told the greens were worst on the back than the front and he didn’t lie Baywood golf course is a $25 course and look so much better, please if you play a course leave a review so what happens to you don’t happen to any body else

Fairways: The fairways proudly embrace the “less is more” aesthetic. More sand than Scotland, more weeds than an experimental botanical garden, and about as much grass as a tax audit. Each drive is a thrilling lottery: will you bounce off compacted sand, slide into a secret patch of nettles, or discover the coveted micro-lawn — a postage-stamp of real turf hidden like a Pokémon? The bunkers have unionized and moved into the fairway, so strategy now includes translation of ancient dune maps.

Greens: Greens? The word here is used loosely, as in “green-ish,” or “we’ll get there next season.” These putting surfaces are a patchwork quilt of stubborn weeds, desiccated mud puddles, and depressions that double as emergency potholes. Read the grain? You must first find the grain. Expect putts that curve like plot twists and speed that alternates between “molasses” and “projectile.” Putt once and you might inadvertently donate to local mole populations.

Construction chic: Holes dug up everywhere — an avant-garde tribute to subterranean pipe repair. The course operates on a generous timeline where pipe maintenance is performance art: trenches crisscross the fairways like runways for gophers, and every green is an archaeological site where the crew is half buried in antiquated PVC. This provides delightful hazards and authentic blind shots; if you miss the fairway, you might discover a fresh excavation that turns a bogey into a thrilling excavation-assisted double bogey.

Final verdict: If you came for pristine conditioning and predictable lies, you took a wrong turn at the interstate. But if you crave character, unpredictable terrain, and the chance to tell your grandchildren you once battled trench lines and wildlife to sink a par, this course is a charming, infuriating, unforgettable saga. I’ll do my best to be fair about my review. The layout is fine. It’s short. Some fun holes. I understand there was a drought, but appears they aren’t spending any money on water and the fairways on many holes were just sand. Greens are burnt up. Looks like they are repairing the irrigation system. Other than the two of us, we only saw a single and a twosome on the golf course all day. 6 cars in the parking lot. Not sure why they let this course fall into such a state, but it could be nice with more care and water.

This course has a fun layout. It needs water. Looks like they are addressing this issue. It’s a fair layout. Greens were sandy and sparse grass on many holes. Nevertheless, for less than $35 it was worth the hour drive.

I have played a few times here, this was close to the worst condition of any course I have played. Fairways were in very rough condition, greens were part grass, part sand and some weeds.

After new owners the course started to look better, but I wouldn't waste my time playing here now. I don't think its worth the money.

Course is really dry. Traps were in decent shape ....absent of rocks and most weeds. Yeah, I played out of more than one! Tee boxes are mostly sand, fairways are HARD.....leave any club with a flange out of the bag. Generally we had a good

time playing this course and hope they're able to get it into good shape because the layout is fun and challenging. Lots of uneven lies, doglegs left and right, elevated tees and greens. Look forward to another visit.

The course conditions really left a lot to be desired. Greens were spotty, fairways were just sand, tee boxes were a flat mound of sand, most everything was meant to be grass was mostly sand. It feels like they just need to water everything. The course layout was also not my favorite. A lot of blind shots that if you haven’t played there before, you were just praying. Better courses around for the same price or cheaper. Nice people but no range. Paid about $50 a round on Saturday.
