Making great strides
Enjoyed the layout. Greens in great shape. Obviously putting money into the course and clubhouse.. I will be returning as I live in the area and believe this club and course will continue to improve!
Well worth the drive
There may be more visually stunning courses in the Pinehurst area, but for the money, this is my new favorite course. Not extremely long but a shot makers’s delight. Course conditions are very good. No snack bar but one is under construction. Great pace of play. Will be back.
Good course great value
Interesting course lay out - good mix of par 3s and 5s - some 5s play like a 4....great place to learn course/club management. Super fast pace, did not rush and finished in about 3:20 (on a Saturday!). Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. Restaurant coming soon, but shop sells snacks, beverages, beer and basics in the meantime. Amazing value for a great, easy going 18 holes of golf. Showed up 45 mins before booked tee time and staff worked us into the back 9 to prevent a back up, good management and awareness. Will DEFINITELY be back given it is a mile from our house. Thank you for a great round!
Nice Course
It was my first time playing here. It seems like the new owners are really putting work into the course and club house. The course was very clean and had some unique holes. The 9th really stood out as a cool hole. I gave low score for off course amenities because the proshop only had the bare essentials and there is no driving range (although there is a net and some balls just to get the swing warmed up). However, they are renovating and working on getting a bar and restaurant. With the improvements they are making everywhere I am sure this place is on the upswing. For a point of reference I typically spend 30 to 60 bucks on 18 and this place keeps up with courses at that price point.
Good value
Kinda wonky layout. Greens were quite good. Entire course is rough around the edges but a good value at $28 for 18 holes.
Great value and pace
Took the 1 hour trip down from Holly Springs. Course was in pretty good shape. Hard to complain as it was $32.50 a person and pace moved quick. Staff very friendly but no grill yet (says one is coming). Great day on a good course at an excellent value. Worth the drive down.
A sleeper
I have been living in the Pinehurst area for the past eight years. A great value. New ownership is taking pride in their investment by providing upgraded conditions and excellent and caring customer relations.
Continued to get better
Wasn’t a huge fan of the layout of the first couple holes but not only did the layout get better, but the quality continue to get better as well. Great golf course for a great price and I highly recommend it.
Great Value
Great Layout. Modest Length. Green complexes challenging
Course is coming along
The course is coming along and getting a lot better. The née owner is putting a lot of money in the course.
A fair Sandhills course
Teed off ~10am on the July 5th "holiday" Monday and only took 3.5 hours to finish as a two-some. Possibly Covid casualties, but there were no Starter, Ranger, drink cart, or water coolers on the course. Unsure about snack bar -- didn't stop at the turn. It's listed up front as having no range, but they did have a net to hit into by the practice green which was helpful. Course was in average shape -- some GIR here and there, a couple bunkers with standing water or hard-panned, etc. -- nothing terrible.
Plays as short as the yardage indicates, if not shorter. Interesting mix of five par 5's and five par 3's for a par 72 course, and I'm not sure if some of the 5's needed to be. Driver + PW and Driver + 6I into two of them from the white tees. Course had a good mix of holes and layouts though. You weren't hitting Driver off of every tee, but at times it was difficult to know what distance to target into a dogleg or avoid OB (didn't ask if a course book was available). Greens were firm and I feel like they would have run fairly average except for the amount of slope in most -- led to some tricky down-hillers and slow up-hill putts which helped it play more challenging than the yardage.
I'd come back again but play the blue tees even as a 15+ handicap. It's a better value than a comparably priced course in the Raleigh area.
Whispering Woods
Very nice course. Greens were deceptively fast. But, the greens rolled very true.
