Course in Terrible Shape
Played this course on a recommendation. Never again. There is no value for your money here. Basically, a cow pasture is in better shape. If they want people to play this course then perhaps some upkeep is in order.
I won't ever be back even though I live in the area.
Fast greens
The greens were fast and true and they were the only course in town not to keep you on the cart part after a heavy rainfall.
There’s too many courses in this area to choose this one
I had never played here and a friend recommended it. I wish he would’ve recommended something else because this has to be one of the worst courses in the Pinehurst area. The guy in the clubhouse was great but that’s where the positives ended. The tee boxes and cart paths were some of the worst I’ve played. Some holes didn’t even have cart paths on the entire hole. The fairways were average or below average and the greens sounded like sponges when you hit the putt. One green was actually 85% unplayable and of course the pin was located in that 85%. The price to play was great but I guess as the old adage goes you get what you pay for.
Good group trip
Tranquil setting and in pretty good condition for early spring. Greens were fast and rolled nicely. Lots of mounds and slopes if you miss a green made for tough chipping. Somewhat repetitive tee to green. Local knowledge would be helpful for scoring.
Not exactly Mr Persinality at check in.
Nice restaurant for after the round
Kafkaesque
Greens were in real shape. That ends the positive stuff. The fairways were just ok, but no cores on most sprinkler heads (on four occasions hurting for balls lost in fairway and finally found in sprinkler). Tee boxes a disaster. Funky layout with 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s. Lots of target golf holes.
The real problems were with what I assume were residents, walking aimlessly around the course o driving carts (with no clubs on them) randomly around the course.
The greens were in good shape but the rest of the course needed some TLC.
Excellent Greens
It is September and somehow ALL the greens are in EXCELLENT shape at this course!! Very enjoyable round of golf! Well worth the drive from Raleigh.
Best deal in Pinehurst area
The fairways were lush and the greens were super fast. This was an excellent deal and I will definitely play this course again.
True Test For Your Game
It has been a while since I've played here. You have to place the ball in certain locations & that still doesn't mean you will score well. The greens are turtle back, the ball rolls away from the hole. It gets frustrating then funny after seeing your playing partners do the samething. Had a good time. Grate price.! The staff was friendly. Cant wait to go back & play.
Great Value
Where else in the Pinehurst area can you play a course with greens this good, a staff that is super-friendly, GPS on the carts, and at such a great price? You can't. The greens were super fast and true. Staff is always friendly. Wish they had a driving range. I will be back.
Early-season
Course conditions were OK considering it was early season. However the clubhouse amenities were somewhat lacking struggle just to get a cup of coffee early in the morning .
Great greens and a value play
Still has some areas that need work but overall the greens are fast and a true test of your putting abilities.
Best greens
What a great job on the new greens. Best greens in the Pinehurst area.
Great layout
Fantastic price. super layout, friendly staff, 3.5 hrs
A bumpy start
We had a bumpy start ,but the staff went out of their way to make things right. Greens were great. We will definitely be back.
better than expect
I played here several years ago. What I remember was nice layout, terrible course condition. Course condition is better than I expect.green rolls well(look little different than others)not bad at all
Pretty nice course
Nice course, but kind of tough in some ways. I didn't have a very good day on the course, but I'm not sure it was Whispering Woods fault. It was a challenging layout. The tee box layout pics were not to scale...it showed everything to be pretty much straight. It was hard to figure out where the best spot to play the ball to would be. It seemed the yardages might have been off a little too. But it may have just been me. I may give it a try again in the future, to make my final decision.
Worth the trip!!
Well-kept secret. Course design is very engaging, placing a premium on placement and distance. Greens are very challenges in terms of slope, firmness and speed. Plan to use every club in your bag in this track. Exceptional value and very friendly staff.
