Golfer Reviews
Great layout
Fantastic price. super layout, friendly staff, 3.5 hrs
better than expect
I played here several years ago. What I remember was nice layout, terrible course condition. Course condition is better than I expect.green rolls well(look little different than others)not bad at all
Pretty nice course
Nice course, but kind of tough in some ways. I didn't have a very good day on the course, but I'm not sure it was Whispering Woods fault. It was a challenging layout. The tee box layout pics were not to scale...it showed everything to be pretty much straight. It was hard to figure out where the best spot to play the ball to would be. It seemed the yardages might have been off a little too. But it may have just been me. I may give it a try again in the future, to make my final decision.
Worth the trip!!
Well-kept secret. Course design is very engaging, placing a premium on placement and distance. Greens are very challenges in terms of slope, firmness and speed. Plan to use every club in your bag in this track. Exceptional value and very friendly staff.
VERY AVERAGE
Short and Interesting. Greens were in good shape, fairly quick with a lot of slope form back to front. Fairways and rough were OK, some good spots some bad spots. Tee boxes not very good, played back tees and seems like they've neglected most. Little to no grass and very uneven!
NOT COMPLAINING - Paid $11 Hot Deal
For $11 would play there over and over again, not for rack rate though.
Had first tee time, maintenance wasn't aware. Nearly got drenched on 4 green when sprinklers came on and next 2 holes had to wait for sprinklers to turn off before approaching green.
Great value for good course
Very friendly staff
New management?
Tight course especially from the back
Greens hard and like lightning fast
Would return in a heartbeat especially for $14 Hot Now deal!
New greens
Wow, these new greens are tough to read, especially if you are not used to reading Bermuda greens, then you are in for a frustrating day. Greens were in fantastic shape, just beware of slope and the grain. I have not played here in a few years and they are doing a some good work bringing back a good track. The natural areas and areas off the fairways are very true to the area.
Course plays longer than scorecard, very Pinehursty!
Greens were the best out of everything. You got short holes, long holes, narrow fairways and wide open ones. Fairways were nice when found with nice tee shots. A lot of hills and corners to negotiate. Snack Bar/Restaurant opens at 11 a.m and they got the best variety of food choices on there menu. Go play! Go play Whispering Woods. Hope they don't jack there tee times up due to good reviews like a lot of other courses. Some courses bait you with low tee time pricing for 2-3 weeks and then bamm! The tee time prices jump because they got there golfers wanting to play that course again but at a price double now.
Nice course
Good course for the price. My only issue was that the grill did not open until 11:00am. Our tee time was 7:38. If you have an early tee time be sure to eat breakfast. Other that that the course was great. Pace was good we seemed to have the course to ourselves.
Excellent value
Had a 730 time on sun morn,we did not see another person on the course. Played in 3:15. Conditions were very good..greens excellent.fairways good. For 20 bucks I really can't complain.
Great greens/Bumpy fairways
Greens are still in great shape. Fairways need TLC although efforts were seen to remedy that in some areas. Very few players on the course which made for a fast pace.
Excellent course for the money
$22 for 0730 tee time?!? You can not beat that at all especially for a very nice course with Fast breaking greens in pretty good condition. The fairways were in good condition, dry spots here or there but it's NC so it's expected and for the price that's a petty complaint. I am a new golfer so the course was pretty difficult and definitely let let me know what part of my game I needed to work on. Staff was very friendly and did not have a problem with me changing my tee time for 730am to 800am because my partner showed up late. It was not very busy either for a Sunday, no one on our tail and the group in front of us played at a fast pace. Will return in the future when I get s little better.
Surprisingly good
Got tee time in early July for $21 on golfnow.com. Played at 7:34 am...older foursome in front of us but they played fast. The course is an interesting layout and was in great shape. No weeds or crabgrass around edges liked some other value courses in Pinehurst. Clubhouse staff extremely friendly, unlike some other Pinehurst courses. Took time to show us around and give us pointers. Front nine has shorter holes and lots of elevation changes. Back nine opens up and a bit flatter but both sides were very well maintained. Would recommend and definitely play there again, especially for $20 in the morning.
As good as it gets !
This place is scenic, challenging and in great shape. Staff treats you like a member, especially Dan. Like Old Tom says "go play" !!
Fum Day
Will come back again. Very nice course in good shape. Fun to play. Staff very friendly on pro shop, 19th hole as well as on the course.
