Golfer Reviews
best greens in county
Course does not reward mistakes. Greens in great shape. New owners have made great strides in getting course back into good shape.
I wish!
There was no refreshment cart. However, no one bothered us about bringing a cooler. I wish they would upgrade the restroom facilities. A porta-john for a 5 hole break just isn't good enough in the Sandhills. However, the people were amazing and the course was challenging. I will go back, I would recommend it to others who just want to play. Last note, GPS in the carts....AWESOME!
Good
Greens in good shape and enjoyed playing. Wasn't happy that had to use golf now app to get a good price on golf in the town you live in.
whispering woods
I really like this course near pinehurst. the price was excellent at $29. I thought it was challenging. Conditions were excellent. tee boxes were plush. Fairways cut just right. Rough thicker but not ridiculous. They had 2 spots where they had issues. 1 on a green and the other close to a green but they had reacted to it and they were healing nicely. I would recomend for average to above average golfers.
Good Round!
Overall the course was great. Fairways and greens were in good shape. The tee boxes have suffered a bit in the dry weather. The price paid for what we received is hard to beat. I would like to play the course again now that I know the layout.
Course Conditions Not Up to Par
Greens looked good, but a lot of them were bumpy (not cut/rolled?) Fairways a little thin due to lack of rain (or watering?) Food/beverage service closed at 2PM (told this was normal for the company running their service. No 19th hole after 2pm??? In general, this course did not meet any expectations for the area in which it is located.
We appreciate your input. There are a couple of fairways that are a little thing due to our single row irrigation. We are addressing the issue. Transitioning from Bent grass to Bermuda has been an outstanding improvement. Just like you we had noticed a little "bump" in the roll of some putts. We have purchased rollers for the greens and the "bump" has been addressed. While the cafe does close from 2-5 to get ready for the dinner service there are always cold drinks and snacks available in the Pro Shop, I apologize if that was not offered to you. We invite you back to see that we are constantly improving to add to your enjoyment. Let me know when you are coming and I will stock a cooler for you on my dime. Just ask for Chris
Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. We look forward to the opportunity to not just meet but to exceed your expectations in the very near future.
Ok for a cheap round
I was down in the Pinehurst area to watch the US Open. I looked on GolfNow to find a tee time, and many of the better courses were booked or had jacked the greens fees way up during US Open week. I decided to play Whispering Woods due to the recent positive review on GolfNow about the recently renovated greens.
The course was OK, with the greens probably being the best feature, although I did feel that a few greens were a bit bumpy and needed to be rolled. Several of the fairways and tee boxes were patchy and need work, mainly on the back 9. The layout of the course was nice and with continued maintenance it will be a good place to play for mid-high handicappers. The length of the course is relatively short, so long hitters and low handicappers will find it too easy. There is no driving range which is a drawback.
Note: beware of the angry dog on hole 3. My playing partner and I hit our drives and were driving the cart down the fairway to our balls when this junkyard-looking dog came running and barking after us. He chased us for about 150 yards until he finally turned around.
Good Track - Needs some help
This was a challenge for first time players. However, the course was nice and great value for the money. They need to upgrade some of the fairways, in fact, I saw a notice to members that they can move the ball if not on grassy area without penalty. I saw this after play. We would play again. It was nice to have the GPS on the cart with hints. Distances didn't match card or our hand held Bushnell V-2
Great staff and great course
This is an amazing golf course with a great staff.
Great time on a course on the rebound
This course was a good value for the money. Booked on GolfNow.com and got a great tee time was paired with great guys and the course was in good condition. Greens are on the rebound and the layout is interesting with many doglegs and elevation changes.
Course features
The course it self was nice and in good condition. Pretty challenging with all the dog legs, so the course really makes you think from shot to shot. The greens were rolling fast and the greens keeper definitely made it rough on the locations of the holes but who does not like a challenge. Hope this helps, for the price you can not beat the playing conditions and the staff hospitality plus the GPS golf carts help selecting club much easier.
Birthday round
Good course. Teed off 1st one. Course was in good shape. Working still on trim work in trees. But good course.
Great course for the money
The Warrior group has spent time and money to improve the overall course condition, and they have done a great job so far! When the greens soften up the will be great!
Variety of holes is a plus
Varied fairways are interesting. Greens are new, good and true. Integral GPS-s on golf carts offering distances and tips make good caddies. Personal are friendly and professional, the food and beverage are good. - what else would we want from a golf course?
Not bad for the money
Some holes are confusing if you've never seen the course before.
All holes are different
No one likes all the same things, but as a player I like elevation changes and turns. This course had both and each hole was unique. Not a cookie cutter back and forth layout. We played from the tips and because of the elevation changes and turns, it plays longer than yardage. From tips par 3s are long. Par 5s are very short. Need to play it a couple of times to get the hang of it.
5 hour round
course let out 3 people with 5 players when the course was busy that is wrong and that is why i had a 5 hour round
