Great little course
Went out for a quick round last Saturday. Greens were in pretty good condition. A few spots here and there but nothing major. Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was great. Not a long course but you have to hit it straight
Not bad
This was the first time I have been to Knox Muni since the spring. Course was in good shape, a few greens needed some extra attention but overall very acceptable conditions.
Enjoyable course
Very friendly staff, excellent food bar. A playable coursr for all...vurtually no sand traps and very few water hazards ....upgraded carts as well as cart path improvements ...great for high handicap and new players.....
Great bang for buck & very friendly environment
The best Golfing experience if you want to relax and play a game you love. Great course conditions and above par staff. Will definitely come back weekly.
Good value and experience
Overall course in good shape. Bermuda fairways excellent, greens rolled well and consistent. Weeds in some greens, but minor. Only irritating thing is patrons don't seem to repair ball marks. Good experience, pace and value
DGreat course just tough enough
greens and fairways were great. Plenty of water to drink on the course.
Great Shape
Municipal has been in great shape this year. Billy Casper Golf seems to be taking much better care of it now than in years past and the course is responding to their care taking. I've never seen their greens in better shape. I play here quite frequently so i've seen it in it's ups and downs and right now it's definitely on the upswing.
Very nice course for the money
The course was in very good shape. The fairways and greens were in very good shape and the pace of play was excellent. Other than the heat, it was an overall good experience.
Great course for the money
This was a last minute choice but turned out great . The time was right and so was the cost. The weather was fine and so was the golf. We enjoyed the whole experience . The course was in great condition and a great value.
Awesome course!!
Course is in tremendous shape! Greens are fabulous and extremely challenging, fairways already look and play great! Cart paths are in exceptional shape and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Overall one of the best courses to play in the Knoxville area. Highly recommend. A++++ rating.
Just one thing
Thought the overal of the course was awesome! Only thing was that wish someone would have said something bout the greens. They were aerated so putting was more difficult.. Doesn't make a big deal just wish someone would have said something.
Great day for golf
The fairways were in good shape. The greens had been punched but still played OK. It was a great day because I got a hole in one on number 5!!!
Same old Municipal
Considering how long this course has been around, I would have thought it would be more improved than what it is. I've played here a bunch, but it's been around four years since I last played, and the condition of the course is the same as I remember.
I thought I might notice some improvements, changes, or anything really but I didn't. It's a fun relaxing course that's good to play for practice. I wouldn't spend over $25 here or take work clients here, but a fun game with friends is right up this courses alley.
It's not in great shape, but it's not in bad shape either. There's not much else you can say about it. It's just a shame the course has gotten better in all this time.
Much improved
I grew up playing this course, but this is the first time I have been there this year. The course was in the best shape I've ever seem it in. I was very satisfied
Mr. Adverage senior golfer
Course is in great shape. Is fun to play. Close to home. Greens are a little slow.
Course shortened
Been doing construction on this course since I have lived in Knoxville, I enjoy continuous improvement but this place will always be under construction. The course plays par 69 now, hole 17 is par 3 110 yards, also hole is a par 3 about 130 yards. There aren't really any tee boxes anymore, they just place the boxes in the middle of the fairways or even out of the rough - no way this should be more than a $20 course. Oh, also 9 has last 50 yards landing zone cut off to play into a par 5 before water. No cart service but lady was nice in shop. Greens were in fairly good shape and cups okay. Fairways have had disease forever, seems to only get worse. Never been impressed, was at least hoping to play a full round. First time I've played in years, I'd recommend another course. Only played here because no other availability
Blackb1,
I am sorry that you did not have an enjoyable experience during your most recent visit to Knoxville Municipal. As you mentioned, we do have ongoing efforts on the course to improve conditions for our players. Beyond the new cart paths, which have been completed, the most impactful of these projects is the grow-in that is underway in the fairways on holes 18 and 2. Both fairways were sprigged in late May, which is the reason both of those holes are currently playing as par 3’s from temporary tee boxes. The unfortunate outcome of a rough winter was damage to a few of our fairways and tee boxes, which was a condition out of our control that we have been vigorously working to repair. I have written a number of entries about our ongoing course recovery efforts in my blog, which I would encourage you to check out – hopefully that will address your concerns more in depth: http://www.golfknox.com/blog
Nevertheless, I understand your frustration in having to play both shortened holes, as well as work around the newly sodded area on the 9th hole. These circumstances are necessary evils in getting the course back into shape, which is our main focus and will result in a higher quality golf course for all of our customers to enjoy. I would ask you to come back and give us another try once the grow-in process is complete and we are able to fully open the course – I believe you will see the payoff of all the hard work we have put in thus far in 2015. Again, I sincerely apologize that your experience playing our course was not more enjoyable, but I hope that you afford us the opportunity to show you the outcome of these projects and play another round here in the near future.
Best Regards,
Justin Smedley
