A Diamond in the Rough
This was our first time to play since the switch to bermuda greens. They were a little bit slow but very smooth. Surprisingly good. We played the ball as it lies and could not complain about any lies. We actually played in 3 hours and let 3 groups play through. I will definitely play it again!
Good challenging coarse
Fun fast paced a good challenge yet easy. Would play anytime I get a chance
Want to come back!
From reading the card I knew this was one of Knoxville's oldest courses. It has an interesting layout where the entire course is contained in a fence, clubhouse is catty corner to the course. When we played they had cut temporary greens about 150 yds short of original greens which made this course super easy. Due to the ruggedness of the greens we played a two putt rule. The greens they are building look fantastic though and I really want to come back when they are in. Signage at the clubhouse says greens should be open for play in September, I plan on coming back in the spring to try them out!
Temporary greens...
All holes shortened with new greens being conditioned, and this gives you the temporary/horrific playable greens as your only choice....bottom line barely playable
Great Day for Golf
Went on a Sunday with my Dad and broke a 100 for first time!! So great day all away around. Course was in great shape as well.
Very Rude Employees
After being falsy accused of making divots by an employee we were kicked out. The employee didn't even see it, but accused us because we were the only younger golfers there and weren't regulars. The employees were very rude when asking them about it and just said that we were the only ones that would do it.
Whittle Springs Golf
Great price! Some narrow fairways, lots of trees makes it challenging. Not much water or sand, but nice course. Staff very friendly.
Great Value!
Course is short, but challenging! Great tee shots don't always end up great, so plan accordingly off the tee boxes. Overall, great value and a fun place to play!
This course is a great value
This being the first time I have played this year I played terrible, but the course was great ,the weather was fair ,and we just enjoyed being out there on the course.
Worth a shot
A good place for the discount on golf now. A lot of older guys play here a lot. Like a hang out. Course was rain soaked. Still not bad for first of season warm up. Shop did let us off back 9 to get ahead of group. Rusty is good.
Love to play the course, hate the people who play the daily tournament.
Love to play the course, hate the people who play the daily tournament.I think its the same guys for the past 30yr. We { 3 some} started out fine but by the 3rd hole we were behind the infamous Whittles five-some daily tournament then on the ninth hole we tee off one us hits the best drive of his life and you guessed it lands on the green,so we drove up words were exchange he said he was sorry and one guy from there group says hes the superintendent of the course. So i asked him why he was playing a five-some.He said it was a tournament and they were gambling{that makes it better} so i told him he should know better or let people play through. We all go to hole ten at the same time and they start teeing off. This is why you don't play whittles lady's and gentlemen.
The course was a challenge.
This course had the worst greens I have ever tried to play on.
Great for the price and high handicappers
I'm a high handicap golfer so any course is a challenge for me. I enjoying playing here and I paid what I would pay for a large bucket of balls at the range.
Good course, fairly wide open
Good course with wide fairways. No bunkers to speak of, and limited water hazards.
Fairly easy to moderate course.
Cheap enough to go and play.
The course was in the best condition I've seen it in since I've lived in Knoxville in the past 5 years. Employee running the cash register wasn't the friendliest, stood there waiting five minutes for a cart key. Will play again if the price is under $20, if not it's just not worth it to me for my overall experience.
Great course and value for the money
I caught a super discount to $14. I always enjoy Whittle Springs. Nice variety, course was in good condition although today it was a bit wet (cart path only) due to the recent rains. This course is always a good value. Today it was about as crowded as I have seen it but we played a round in about 4 hrs
Best public course in Knoxville for the money.
Course was in very good shape, greens were a little smallish but very playable.
Great Course For Last Minute Decision to Go Play
Great course for a last minute decision to go play while visiting the Knoxville area. The rental clubs were in great condition.
cheap golf but enough challenge to keep you coming back
It doesn`t have sand and the water shot on 18 is okay but easy enough for amateur golfers. The fairways are not the greatest cut but for 20 bucks you cant beat it
