About
Grand Oaks Golf Club enjoys a peaceful, tranquil setting among century-old oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with tree-lined fairways and small greens that will test your accuracy. It may have a traditional design but there is still some bite to this round. There are several strategically placed bunkers that lurk greenside to challenge you even further. Two meandering creeks weave along the golf course as well, coming into play on a few holes. The layout has a nice mix of holes from reachable par 5s to tough par 3s. Grand Oaks Golf Club is a fair test that is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. There are some birdie opportunities available if you play it smart and it's forgiving enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

Great Value, great pace
We played on a morning after some light rain day of and moderate rain day before. The course remained in great condition. I think the tee times were spaced 10 minutes apart. We had no delays and never had anyone waiting behind us (may have been due to some cancellations as it had been wet earlier that morning, but even with rain, I encounter delays on almost every Dow municipal course). Jimmy was the Marshall. He was friendly, kept things moving as the group that got to the 1st tee box behind us was actually 20 minutes late. Rather than pushing them in front of us, he placed them on the 2nd tee box so it wouldn't delay us- how it should be if you're not prompt to your reserved tee time. Thanks Jimmy, see you again soon

Coming back
I have read the reviews since the hard winter seemed to effect the course more than a little,
As of yesterday I played there and obviously the staff has worked very hard to get it back in shape.
It is now good and should only get better.
Please come out and support this course. The staff are some of the best people and will do their best to assure you have a fun and quality experience.

Enjoyable layout
1st time playing here. The course has a great layout and you need to know where the trouble is. Luckily I got a hole by hole booklet that was awesome on distance to hazards etc. invaluable
The front 9 was in good condition, the back 9 was obviously impacted by the freeze In February (some greens badly damaged)
Overall round was a good pace
I will be back to play again

Greens are horrendous

Hidden Gem
I know the February freeze caused damage to many golf courses and Grand Oaks is no exception, in some areas it was notable. But the maintenance staff has the rest of the course in great shape! Good Value for money.

Course in deplorable condition!!
The course is in really bad shape. The staff was awesome. The cart girl was absolutely amazing. A+ for the staff. Couldn't be a better staff. The grounds keepers need to get the course back to playable before next season. If they do that then I would love to come back and play again.

Back 9 greens in horrible condition. Only course in dfw that I’ve been to that has Porta potties and two shacks for bathrooms.

Decent Bang for your Buck
Pros - Very cool course with awesome clubhouse.
Challenging holes and great layout.
Very friendly staff
Cons - they stack the tee times so you’re constantly waiting on group in front of you.
Greens are in real bad shape, balls take crazy bounces. Some are very dry, some have patches of sod put in, some have sand pits on them…

Horrible back 9
First and last time playing here. The front was good and enjoyed it. However the back 9 was the opposite. The best way to describe it is playing on a goat farm. The greens and parts of fairways were horrible. It’s not worth the money.
