Chippewa Golf Club
About
Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown sits just a few minutes south of Akron. It's one of the area's most popular public courses. Opened in 1962, the golf course has a traditional layout that sprawls across rolling hills. The undulating landscape provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is key since mature trees frame most of the holes and the massive, contoured greens also present a challenge. If you can keep it in the fairway, there are some great birdie opportunities on the par 5s. Overall, Chippewa Golf Club is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy with the exception of the treacherous 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. This trio, nicknamed the "Bermuda Triangle," will test the putting skills of even the best golfers.

Green on #15 needs to be fixed
My only gripe on the whole course....the green on #15.
The front half of the green is at such a slope that it won't hold any approach shot. It is essentially a cheap-shot that costs you a stroke as the ball rolls back and onto the fringe.
And if you do play the green long and it manages to hold, well then you're "reward" is a sloping putt from above the hole that can easily go 10 feet past.
Still @$&^@$*! mad about how this cheapness costed me not only a GIR but a par and possibly a birdie on this hole.
Cant wait to go back
I play at least once a week, sometimes twice and this course remains in my top 3 favorite in NE OH. Course consistently exceeds expectations in every way. Just a must play if you have the opportunity.
A must play course
Hard but extremely fun. The greens are phenomenal…you can actually be thrilled with a three put, and smile about it.
Very good track
Course was very dry but they were watering as best they could
Beautiful course!
The fairways and greens were firm and smooth! Consistent speed. Beautiful layout!
5-SOMES and SLOW PLAY!
Chippewa permits 5-somes and they have no course rangers that could break up 5-somes or force the 5-somes to allow 2-somes to play thru.
I heard the course has new ownership. Ownership that permits 5-somes and promotes slow play should be removed.
My group of 8 players will never play Chippewa again.
This course is amazing!
Only thing I have to say about this course if u haven’t played here what are u waiting for .It’s drop dead Gorgeous.
First timer, will be back!!
First time playing the course and very happy. We booked a afternoon tee time looking to play after a morning 18 elsewhere. We flew in the morning and called to see if we could get out early. Staff was very accommodating to us and squeezed us out about 2 hours early from our scheduled tee time. Course was in great shape, greens were smooth, true, and fast! Only two issues of annoyance. 1) starter warned us of it being slow. However upon teeing off we found 3 twosomes, a single , and another twosome in front of our 3 some. Why not pair those people up?? 2) the carts were very annoying with all the GPS messages and cart speed limiting for no reason. On several occasions the carts would give caution warnings and drive carefully warnings while driving down the middle of the flat cart path. When those messages came up the cart speed would drop by half speed as well..... If you veered off into the rough the cart would double in speed.however if you advanced to the fairway the speed would reduce to half speed again. This didn't make much sense to me. However with that said we enjoyed this course very much and will be back!
Hidden gem
I love playing this course…it’s always in great shape and it’s great for multiple skill levels. As a 13 handicap, I play the white tees from 6100+. If you want to be more challenged or are a lower handicapper, you can play the tips from 6800+.
Well Manicured, They Really Care!
Jumped on the last spot for a hot deal for early Saturday morning. They had sausage and egg sammies being prepared fresh when I walked in the door. Met up with three great guy I didn’t know and had a great time. Very few if any areas on the course that weren’t perfectly cared for. From tee box to green and everything in between, pristine. Take away the power lines running through this course and it is one of the best in Ohio. Since we started very early we had a nice 4 hour round. Only complaint possible would be the range balls spilling over on number 11 weren’t picked up yet. Great time!
Best course in Greater Akron area
Would play here every week if I could. Course beautiful, challenging, and always well kept. Price is about what I’d expect for a course like this. Worth every penny. Pace of play can be a bit slow at times, but nothing excruciating like Brookledge.
Would recommend 10/10
Great track
