Chippewa Golf Club
About
Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown sits just a few minutes south of Akron. It's one of the area's most popular public courses. Opened in 1962, the golf course has a traditional layout that sprawls across rolling hills. The undulating landscape provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is key since mature trees frame most of the holes and the massive, contoured greens also present a challenge. If you can keep it in the fairway, there are some great birdie opportunities on the par 5s. Overall, Chippewa Golf Club is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy with the exception of the treacherous 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. This trio, nicknamed the "Bermuda Triangle," will test the putting skills of even the best golfers.

Played in February
This course is a gem played in Feb and did not expect a whole heck of a lot but it was in good shape.
Work on irons leave the driver in bag for now
With all tees moved up during Feb. no need for divers. The greens are still rough, and water is ice.
Thank you so much for braving the chilly weather to come play some February golf! We appreciate the review and hope to see you again once the snow/ice thaws!
Worth the money
Fun layout. The front nine was much easier than the back. Greens were moderately paced and had a bit of undulation. Not the most scenic of courses, but tee to green it had nice grass and was fair. I played this before going out to see the Bridgestone Invitational. The two courses are quite close. It is a very wide open course like most in the area, but has a little more elevation change and teeth than the cookie cutter Ohio courses for $25 that are flat and have 20 foot high maples lining the fairways. Definitely worth a look.
Mr
Usually the best greens around but they are not that good. Greens been irritated and very bumpy.
It is that time of the year where we had to do a little maintenance before the winter weather shows up. Come out again in 2016 and the greens will be back to their normal selves.
Another off the Bucket List of NE Ohio couraes
Booked as a single - got there early - got off early-beautiful day but windy- course was in good shape-played from gold tees-very fair and enjoyed the fast greens. Would have finished in less than 3 1/2 hrs if not for the threesome that I caught up to on the back nine. Would not let me go thru. Still enjoyed the day. Would play again. Worth the 1 hr drive from the west side of CLE.
Thank you so much for making the drive to come check us out! We hope to see you again soon!
Honey-Hole
Let me just say, it's rare to find value in courses in this area! However that is not the case here! This was my third time here and I've meant to write this sooner! Soft fairways and greens, manicured bunkers and picturesque views! We booked on golf now and for the price you cannot beat this place, and I've played nearly all of the courses in Wayne and Medina counties! This is a must play course, but remember to bring your game cause you'll need it. ...!!!!!!! Challenging but super fun!!!!
Awesome Staff
Perfect Course, Awesome Golf Carts and An Amazing Club House
Thank you so much for the great review! We hope to see you again soon!
Solid course, solid value
As usual, the greens at Chippewa are in excellent shape with plenty of undulations. The course moved along at a great pace (even was relatively dry after an all night soaking rain). I'd recommend the ride to this hidden gem in Wayne County
What a great review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a great time and we hope to see you again soon!
Nice course, fun round, staff could be friendlier
Had a pretty good time. We caught up to a foursome on #2 that was moving very slowly. They let our twosome through on the 3rd tee, and we had clear sailing from there.
At the turn it was misting, and we asked for a raincheck. Their representative was negative and a little rude. He said it wasn't raining, and that Golfnow fees do not qualify for rainchecks.
We finished the round and had a good time, but still think their representative could have handled the situation much more nicely.
We appreciate the feedback and will look into this issue. Thanks for playing our track and we are glad to hear you had a good time here at Chippewa.
Good coarse horrible country club
Started off basically with the parking signs could've been better to direct you to the pro shop the staff wasn't trained very well and didn't inform me of where the first he was or if there was even a key in the cart the pro shop was an absolute disaster look like some Third World country country club not clean not painted overall Shape of the car it's going to be in cleaner cleanliness is not a high priority it seems nor is the staff well-trained the course itself is not labeled with each Teebox in whole no y shape of the car it's going to be in cleaner cleanliness is not a high priority it seems nor is the staff well trained in the course itself is not labeled with T number Yargers etc. on some holes there is no Ranger to keep the pace of play moving very slow the Bermuda triangle that they talk about I three probably the most difficult holes on the course very challenging but not for the average player course overall should have a even a higher slope from what they actually post on the card also there was no cart lady at all if you can put up with the rest of it this course is in a bad play with some very difficult holes bring your a game
Thank you for taking the time to post a review, we appreciate the feedback!
Great day out
This course was very nice. Looked like the pros came out and took care of this course. Great job greens keepers.

Thank you for the excellent review and for recommending our course!
Excellent Course
I rarely write a review, but this course is worth a review. We thoroughly enjoyed our round. We endured a hard rainstorm as we began the back nine but the course drains well and the greens dried out quickly after the rain. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The front nine is relatively easy. Don't be deceived: the back will challenge your game. A very enjoyable course.
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out such an amazing review! We appreciate you recommending the course and we hope to see you again soon!
Fast and Slick
Course in great shape overall with as dry as August was this summer. Fairways benefited from recents rains but there were several sloppy, swampy areas on and around fairways. Provides challenges on many holes, but as is well known in the golf community, the greens are always fast along with being slick. For the average golfer, these conditions can be frustrating causing scoring to be higher than usual. Two or three good shots to par 4's & 5's are often penalized by roll outs/offs of the fast greens.
There are several beautiful holes that make an occasional trip there worthwhile. Some beautiful views at different points. Holes 14, 15, & 16, all par fours may be the toughest 3 back to back holes in area. But fun to see if you can meet the challenge as long as the pin on 15 is in the back!
Clubhouse and restroom facilities showing age. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Thank you for the review. The greens are quick, but are also fair and we apologize if you didn't feel that way. You hit the nail right on the head, though when it comes to the 'Bermuda Triangle' it can sure show its teeth!
Enjoyable golf experience
We had a group of 8 and all came back raving about the course and conditions. Will definitely be scheduling another trip to play in the near future. It will be good to play the course a second time especially on the back nine. Great lunch menu also, not the typically hot dog affair.
We're thrilled to hear you had such a great time and it extended past just the golf. We hope to see you again soon!
can't wait to get back
second round played with my son and this time was a journey because it was set up for club championship
for which who ever won they earned it. thanks for a great day.
You "can't wait to go back" and we can't wait to see you again! Thanks for the excellent review!
Don't Let golfers off #10 when others making turn!
Very nice course, well maintained. Front nine pace was very good (2 hours). Discovered that several groups were put in front of us at the turn. Waited every hole on the back nine! Took 2 hours and 40 minutes to golf the back. Will not return. Saw a group of 6 on a hole behind us???
We apologize that you did not fully enjoy your round with us. Please send us an email at @ChippewaGolfClub@gmail.com as we would like to learn more about your experience.
Great Character
First time playing Chippewa....really enjoyed this track, really liked the lay out, the staff is friendly and layed back...a few of the greens looked a little rough but putted true and consistant on every hole. Can't believe I have never played this before only a half hour drive from home..I'll for sure return several times... Played from the tips which adds a bit to the par fours and makes the track interesting. If you haven't played this and live in the surrounding area do your self a faver and make a tee time.....
Thanks for checking us out for the first time and we are so happy to hear you had such a great time. Come back and see us soon! Thanks for the excellent review.
Just a public course
Played the course with my 3 handicap son. I'm a 12. Played on a Sunday EARLY morning and it seemed that there were more golfers on hand than the allotted tee times. We waited longer than expected to tee off. One of the biggest issues with the course is the length of tees. You either play at 6100 or 6700 yards (approx) from the set of tees they offer. 6100 is just too short for anyone that plays an average game or better. I decided to play the 'tips' with my son, which was no big deal for me on the front nine, but the back nine was a different story. Starting at #12, the course started to get very long. In particular the 'triangle' as the ranger called it. #14-16. Not that it is going to happen, they need to have a better variety of tee selections. On a positive, the greens and speeds were much nicer that The Quarry that we played the day before.
Course in good condition
Nice course for the $$. Very pleased with the overall experience. Back nine the biggest challenge playing from the Blue tees.
We're thrilled that you enjoyed your round with us and hope to see you again soon.
Chippewa is in mint condition!
This course is amazing and in such great shape! The fairways are pretty awesome!! Can't wait to go back!!
And we can't wait for you to come back! Thanks for the excellent review!
Hey "TD358" thank you so much for the high praise! We look forward to having you back out here again soon.
