Chippewa Golf Club
About
Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown sits just a few minutes south of Akron. It's one of the area's most popular public courses. Opened in 1962, the golf course has a traditional layout that sprawls across rolling hills. The undulating landscape provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is key since mature trees frame most of the holes and the massive, contoured greens also present a challenge. If you can keep it in the fairway, there are some great birdie opportunities on the par 5s. Overall, Chippewa Golf Club is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy with the exception of the treacherous 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. This trio, nicknamed the "Bermuda Triangle," will test the putting skills of even the best golfers.

Don't Let golfers off #10 when others making turn!
Very nice course, well maintained. Front nine pace was very good (2 hours). Discovered that several groups were put in front of us at the turn. Waited every hole on the back nine! Took 2 hours and 40 minutes to golf the back. Will not return. Saw a group of 6 on a hole behind us???
Great Character
First time playing Chippewa....really enjoyed this track, really liked the lay out, the staff is friendly and layed back...a few of the greens looked a little rough but putted true and consistant on every hole. Can't believe I have never played this before only a half hour drive from home..I'll for sure return several times... Played from the tips which adds a bit to the par fours and makes the track interesting. If you haven't played this and live in the surrounding area do your self a faver and make a tee time.....
Thanks for checking us out for the first time and we are so happy to hear you had such a great time. Come back and see us soon! Thanks for the excellent review.
Just a public course
Played the course with my 3 handicap son. I'm a 12. Played on a Sunday EARLY morning and it seemed that there were more golfers on hand than the allotted tee times. We waited longer than expected to tee off. One of the biggest issues with the course is the length of tees. You either play at 6100 or 6700 yards (approx) from the set of tees they offer. 6100 is just too short for anyone that plays an average game or better. I decided to play the 'tips' with my son, which was no big deal for me on the front nine, but the back nine was a different story. Starting at #12, the course started to get very long. In particular the 'triangle' as the ranger called it. #14-16. Not that it is going to happen, they need to have a better variety of tee selections. On a positive, the greens and speeds were much nicer that The Quarry that we played the day before.
Course in good condition
Nice course for the $$. Very pleased with the overall experience. Back nine the biggest challenge playing from the Blue tees.
We're thrilled that you enjoyed your round with us and hope to see you again soon.
Chippewa is in mint condition!
This course is amazing and in such great shape! The fairways are pretty awesome!! Can't wait to go back!!
And we can't wait for you to come back! Thanks for the excellent review!
GREAT CONDITION
I play several times per week at different courses throughout northeast Ohio - and Chippewa is in the best condition of any course I've played this year. I highly recommend this course!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We strive to keep the course in the best shape possible and are thrilled that you found it that way.
The Bermuda Triangle
Chippewa is always well maintained despite what the weather holds. The greens are fast and their speed is consistent throughout the round. The Triangle will eat one alive if they're not on their game!
We have had a lot of rain lately so we appreciate the hard work to keep the course in great shape was noticed. Watch out for that Bermuda Triangle!
Chippewa Golf Club should be on your bucket list in Ohio
Beautiful course, well maintained, nice flowers, shrubs add to views. Front nine is relatively easier than the back. Several 400 yard par 4s are challenging especially the water holes. Greens were moderately fast and smooth. Easy to putt well.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend you play this course if you live in northern central Ohio.
Thank you so much for recommending our track! Please send us an email at ChippewaGolfClub@Gmail.com so we can thank you further.
In great shape.
Friendly starter. Fast, consistent greens and fairways. Round completed in good time.
We hope you were able to add 'good score' to this list as well! Glad you had such a great time with us.
Hidden Gem In Ohio
A must play course. Great lay-out with meticulous fairways and greens.
Thanks for the kind words, William! We hope to see you again soon.
Decent course
Very fast play the day when went even though it was crowded. A couple of greens need some work but they were still playable. The only thing i didn't like was, it was really hot out and they had no water on the coure or a beverage person driving around.
Thanks for the review. We're glad you enjoyed the course and that the pace was excellent for your round. We apologize if you found yourself thirsty on the course and we appreciate the feedback.
Average Course, good value for a golf now price
Played here for the first time. The course is decent and worth playing. It's not a terribly far drive from Akron and the condition is little better then average. The greens were a little beat up/had some dry spots which was surprising considering how much rain we've had recently, so it could just be that the course has gotten a lot of play. It wasn't unplayable by any means, just had some rough spots. The greens also don't break nearly as much as you think they do, which is probably a product of their condition, but again, they aren't unplayable. A couple of weird blind shots, but mostly out in front of you. All in all it's a decent course and worth playing.
Thanks for recommending our course and making the drive from Akron. We appreciate the feedback on the greens and we hope you shave a few strokes off your next round with us now that you know to play a little less break!
Chippewa
Wet, rainy day. Tees and fairways are country club quality. Greens were a bit firm, even with the rain.
Sorry Mother Nature didn't cooperate during your round with us. Please send us an email at ChippewaGolfClub@Gmail.com as we would like to offer to have you out at a discounted rate so you can get the full experience of the course (with the sun shining). Thanks for taking the time to review our track.
Great course
Overall, I am in love with this course. Great conditions every time I play here, even with all of the recent rain. Staff is extremely friendly and even when i was running late for my tee time they managed to cater to me and still get me off before a huge rush! My only problem with the course is the greens. I absolutely love how firm and fast they are when putting as I prefer fast greens. But the receptiveness of the greens on approach shots is a bit different. I have played on many a courses with fast greens and yet they were receptive to wedge and approach shots from 150 and in. For some reason chip is not but either way it just adds to the difficulty of this beautiful course! I still love it and would recommend it to anyone!
First and foremost, thank you for the kind words. We are thrilled that you are "in love with" our course - We feel the same way!
We appreciate the feedback on the greens and as you say they are in great shape, just a bit firm. Come on back soon!
Excellent
Excellent and forgiving would play there again and. Recommend to others!!'
Thanks for the review and we are thrilled that you would recommend us to others. We apologize that the food at the turn wasn't as speedy as you had hoped but would like to thank you for commenting to clarify why you gave us a poor mark. Hope to see you again soon!
I did not mean the food was bad. I just would have had to wait 15 minutes at the turn because the chicken was frozen. I understand student safety first!
Great shape
The course was in good shape. Greens were quick and fairways were great as well. Nice tee boxes as well. Need a new cart path.
We're glad you found the course in excellent shape as we strive to keep the course in the best shape possible. Thanks for the review and feedback on the cart paths. Come back and see us soon!
Great day at Chippewa
Played in a foursome on a Wednesday morning and got around in four hours. Course was in its usual excellent shape. I'll look forward to playing again this year.
Thanks for taking the time to fill out a review and thanks for the kind words. Your tip is a good one as we have some pretty undulating greens! See you soon.
Dont waste your money
I played there on Memorial Day with the full understanding that pace of play wouldn't be 3.5 hours for 18 holes. But the fact that we played 13 holes and had already been out there for nearly 7hours is disgraceful. And they didn't have ONE ranger attempting to speed up play....just some lazy guy on the first tee punching peoples receipts. The course is rock hard. But at least I had to wait 15mins for some girl to cook my frozen burger with no toppings....that ended up being completely raw when i bit into it. On a positive note, this place was expensive. :/ Never again will I play at this poorly run dog track
This course is phenomenal
I have never given a review to any course. This course is my new all time favorite. Comparable to a windmill lakes as far as how well kept it is.
Beautiful scenery, fast greens, very enjoyable course.
We are so glad that you enjoyed yourself enough that you came here to GolfAdvisor to share your enjoyment.
We found your review a lot like you found our course... Phenomenal!
Hope to see you again soon.
Awsome
Very enjoyable round overall. With Tee time of 8 a.m. the fairways and greens were all ready to go as we got to them. Good job.
Thomas, we appreciate the kind words and thank you for taking the time to give us a review.
We'll take "AWESOME" every day of the week!
See you again soon.
