Chippewa Golf Club
About
Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown sits just a few minutes south of Akron. It's one of the area's most popular public courses. Opened in 1962, the golf course has a traditional layout that sprawls across rolling hills. The undulating landscape provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is key since mature trees frame most of the holes and the massive, contoured greens also present a challenge. If you can keep it in the fairway, there are some great birdie opportunities on the par 5s. Overall, Chippewa Golf Club is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy with the exception of the treacherous 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. This trio, nicknamed the "Bermuda Triangle," will test the putting skills of even the best golfers.

Excellent Course
A great course that will test all your skills. Course was in very good condition except, the greens had a bug problem that they are fixing. They have a famous "Bermuda Triangle" on the back nine. It is 3 holes in a row that are very tough & fun to play. I highly recommend this course.
good course, fast greens
Nice course. Weel maintained. Friendly staff. Play can b slow at times due to overbooking.
Great course
This course is well maintained and challenging. The greens are the best around.
good
I enjoy plaing the golf course. very nice place and enjoy the people at the course
Great place to play
Super nice day and course was just awesome so go play
Extremely Fun Course!
If I had written this review after the first nine holes, I probably would have given 3 stars and considered this course just above average. Not bad at all, but nothing that stands out. But, then the back nine... what a fun nine! The front was short and tight through the trees, and required a lot of target shots off the tee and working a draw or fade around doglegs. Definitely a fun nine, and will lose you some golf balls if you're not precise off the tee. The back nine is a little more wide open and longer, with lots of elevation changes. That length will be more pronounced with a number of uphill approach shots. Lots of carries over water on approaches as well. Greens rolled true, maybe a little slower than one would like but that is only to be expected this time of the year. It was nearly impossible for me to read most putts, the subtle breaks are very difficult to distinguish without some "local knowledge". If it is your first time playing, don't be surprised when a few putts break the exact opposite direction you were expecting. All-in-all, a fun course that I would recommend to anyone to check out. Well maintained (especially for the time of the year), courteous and friendly staff, and a great bargain from GolfNow when it is a hot deal.
great course
Front 9 way easier than back 9!
Greens are a challenge, lots of sand and water!
Pretty course with many slopes and drops and elevated greens and tee boxes. Had a great time!
Plenty Challenging
Chose this course due to a great deal on Golf Now and equally because they were one of the few area courses not to have their greens aerated. Last four rounds played elsewhere in the area were all courses with punched / top dressed greens which while we know is necessary, it certainly detracts from the value and fun received. On this day, Chippewa's greens were as fast and challenging as any we've played all season -- and that includes a whole bunch of courses. Enjoy playing their "Bermuda Triangle" (14-15-16) and see if you can manage to emerge unscathed. My playing partner (a repeat player of this course) scored a PAR on 14 and admitted it was the first tiime ever he had accomplished that. Nice people, decent bar and food and a good pro-shop available.
Great Course
As always, course was in great shape, and staff is always very friendly. This is definitely one of the best courses in the area.
very nice course super friendly staff
Akron Chippewa is a very nice public course the staff was awesome and the course looks great. We played on a Saturday so slow golf unfortunately it was do to the people that we were paired with. the course overall is not very long but has very challenging blind tee shots and elevated greens. overall I gave it 4 out of 5 because the greens we're very hard and damaged in certain areas due to the amount of play.
Nice back nine
My day at Chippewa was soured by very slow play. I think they cram their tee times together a little too tightly. There were 3 groups sitting, waiting to tee off on #4. The back nine was very pretty and challenging. Massive greens here and average condition. I would not drive from far away to play here though.
Greens were rolling fast, fairways were in great shape.
Had a great round, enjoyed the other twosome we played with, getting food at the turn was hard, only one lady working counter, others at counter were standing around. Not paying attention. They lost out on our money.
Really nice play.
Great course..Older clubhouse that smells of good food. Very quiet, non residential, with wonderful views..lots of "TRICKY" challenging holes that really try your placement skills. Love the course, an hour from my house, but we will return. Excellent value. Considering the parking lot was FULL, we breezed through 18 with little or no wait. Timing was perfect. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great golf!
Chippewa has the most beautiful greens. They are fast so stay below the hole especially on the triangle holes( 14-16)
Chippewa is one of my favorite courses in the Akron area. The front is much easier than the back so score while you can before getting to the back nine especially 14,15 and 16.I think 15 is the hardest of the Triangle holes with 14 a close second and 16 is not that difficult as long as you stay below the pin.Pace of play is usually pretty fast although this particular round was slower than normal but only because they let a couple 5-somes out .I am not sure why they allow that but it has happened several times to our group mostly on weekday mornings.
August greens were hard and fast. Difficult to hold greens. Bermuda Triangle always is supreme .challenge.
Very enjoyable round overall. With Tee time of 8 a.m. the fairways and greens were all ready to go as we got to them. Good job.
Beautiful rolling hills
I felt as if I were in Ireland. Beautiful rolling hills, and very tough greens. For the most part, getting to the greens is relatively simple, its what you do when you get there that separates good scores from poor ones. These greens are large, and if you are a long way from the hole, 4-putts are not out of the question
