Champagne on Beer Budget DOES Exist!
This might be the best golf value I've ever experienced. Well kept course in great condition with stunning views of canyons, mountains & rock formations. Our 4-some paid less than a single would @ Kiawah, Bandon or other high end resort courses, and this course, with its scenery, is in that class.
Superbly friendly staff.
If you visit St. George, you must not miss this course. In fact, play it more than once. You won't be disappointed.
What a view!
This course was a championship course with some of the most majestic views I've ever played!
Gorgeous red rock and mountain views
Absolutely the best value in southern Utah, but the course conditions rival anyone in the area (in my book, much better). Sometimes narrow fairways with desert sage and lava rocks. So hit 'em straight! Also, it can tend to be breezy, and sometimes windy. Hence the name of the city: Hurricame!
Poor Course Management
The course was in excellent shape and very scenic but the course needs a qualified manager. There were 4 tee distances indicated on each of the beginning tee plagues but only 3 sets of tees were placed on each hole, notwithstanding the fact that there were multiple tee boxes on each hole that were well maintained. In addition, there are no ratings and slopes indicated on the score card.
When asked about not having some intermediate tee markers between the white and red sets of tees, the answer was that for older men, the red tees could be used. When asked why weren't shorter tees for the older women place, no answer could be given except to say at some point in the recent past, they decided that there would only be 3 sets of tees placed, one at 6302 yds, one at 6014 yds, and one at 5044 yds with no provision for those needing a set of tees in the 5500 yd range or lower than the 5000 yd range.
" Hurricane Valley"
It was a warm day but the gale force winds made play interesting in the least. Course was in good condition but only played the front 9 twice. The back 9 started with housing so decided to give the housing a break and stayed on the front which is safe desert style golf. Beautiful scenery. Could have cancelled but came to golf.
Scenic Course In Southern Utah
This is a well conditioned course which provides a good test for golfers of all levels. The staff are friendly and the pace of play is very reasonable.
Resort Golf on a Budget
This is a great course in Saint George, Utah. It's like the resort courses that I've played. The course has amazing views of the surrounding mountains and river.
Best kept secret in Southern Utah
Breathtaking views, great value, friendly staff. One of the best courses I've played near St. George. Loved it!
A MUST PLAY
I have played Torre Pines, Harbor Town, PGA West,
Banff Springs (Canada), Whistler, and many other beautiful courses; however, none more beautiful than Sky Mountain. I play 60 plus games a year. My wife and I absolutely loved the scenery at this course.
Considering it was February when we played the course was in amazing shape with only one green with damage. One of the most wonderful days of golf ever!
bad greens
Had rough patches on the greens made it difficult to putt.
Very scenic holes
Great course to play with some very challenging holes. Back nine has some very scenic hole.
Sky Mountain play was extemely slow.
I have played this course quite a few times. It is usually great. But this time it was ridiculously slow. It took almost 3 hours to play the front. I was teemed up with a couple and we played the 10th hole and just quit because we were tired of waiting 10 minutes between every shot. We weren't enjoying the round and we figured at the pace we were going we would never finish 18 before it got dark. They should have marshals out on the course making sure people are moving along.
awesome views
Sky mountain is one of my top three courses in the St. George, It area. The course offers a risk reward challenge for all levels. The views are breath taking especially 16, 17, 18 you'll want your camera for those. The staff are very friendly and helpful and overall condition is great, love the new green on how four.
Great course
This course is one of the more scenic and well kept courses in the area. It is also a bit cheaper to play than the others as well so I always enjoy get a round in.
Scenic Course
Great golf course. Great price. Amazing views. Had a lot of fun!
They call it Hurricane for a reason
Played a Sunday afternoon and a Monday morning.
Sunday was delayed due to a couples tournament but course was pretty empty after the tourney so I could play alone. Course in good shape but did have some type of blight on several greens. Monday was a mess, the winds were smoking from the North all day and just never let up. Odd thing was when I got back to the airport in St. George it was calm.
Pleasant course, very scenic, nice facility but be wary of high winds even if not forecast for St. George.
Tony makes a killer Breakfast Burrito. A few hotels nearby but not much else...I prefer to stay in St. George and drive out.
Good challenge for the money
Course was a nice tract with several challenging holes. Greens rolled true and were in great condition. Lot of elevation change on course and very few holes that played level from tee to green. Par 5's played short from the white tees. Sand traps were well maintained and played like sand traps, not crusty or hard like some other courses. Overall condition of course was good and well worth the time and money.
Short holes Tough greens
The greens had some lind of desease but played well. Pin placement was really tough on several holes
Typhoon golf in Hurricane
If you like to play in the wind, this is the place to be. It's a beautiful course though. I'm not a good golfer and this was one of the most frustrating places I've golfed.
I am looking at the scorecard and I see the course ratings.
I agree, it would be nice to have 4 sets of tee markers. I believe the greens keeper is trying to keep cost down with maintenance and upkeep. I will mention it to him. If you see a tee box you would like to play, I would suggest you play it, and not worry were the markers are. Just a thought!
